  1. Echo pretty much what was said above; for the minority non revenue generating sports, the draw is not going to be balanced with Texas potential second round being tougher than it has to be. That said I think Texas' bottom of the lineup is stronger and will be more favored than against Michigan. Auburn, Virginia and Oklahoma State are the other seeds on this side and I agree that OU's path is much tougher when that is factored in.

As a side note, I'm pretty sure all matches at NCAA's have to be outdoors (weather permitting). I know the Big 10 tournament was played indoors last week.

A&M getting the seventh seed was expected. In my opinion, the ITA formula rewards one good win over two tough losses. The best out of conference win for A&M was USC. Only loss was against Cal. And that was it- did not play any of the ACC or Big 12 contenders. Which is how Texas, OU, UNC, NC State, Virginia, and Duke are higher ranked-> they keep playing themselves and beating each other.

With UNC and OU failing to win their conference tournaments, there's a pretty good chance that aggy will be the #1 overall seed in the NCAA tournament. Duke, UNC, Texas, OU, and aggy are all #1 seed worthy, but at least one will fall to a 2 seed. Stanford looked like a bad loss for Texas a couple months ago, but Stanford ended up winning the Pac-12 tournament so our "worst loss" doesn't look that bad. NCST lost to both Duke and UNC which is why I think NCST won't get a #1 seed. Guess we'll find out on May 2nd!

Historically the NCAA seeds are based on the computer rankings. If that's the case, UNC is still number one. Texas will be around 4-5. Aggies would be number 7 as they don't have a single top 10 win. If the computer rankings hold, OU will have the roughest draw as the two seed as they'd face Stanford (#15) in the Sweet 16 and then A&M in the Elite Eight.

This is my exact quote from last year

"I'd rate Texas as having a 20-30% chance of beating UNC. Things that have to happen are Peyton needs to get hot during NCAAs and Joffe has to decide between Labrana and Rapolu at 6. "

And those things did happen- Peyton went on a tear the last three team matches at NCAA's and Joffe was able to manage the line 6 spot (4-1 record splitting Labrana and Rapolu).

I actually think there's no clear cut favorite this year compared to last year's UNC. Last year I'd say there were 3 or 4 times capable of winning. This year I would say there are 7-8 teams in the hunt. Key thing for Texas this year is Charlotte needs to find her freshmen year groove.

Yeah I'm not sure why he wasn't in the lineup today, but I'm assuming its injury related. @Aleemay would probably know

lolz- this time I don't; wasn't at the match, been spending much of the week at the ATP tournament in Houston

Hope it's not vertebral stress fractures, I know that he's struggled with those in the past

Those were our final home matches of the season unless we host a regional. Gotta take care of business against the Oklahoma schools and then hope TCU doesn’t murder us too bad. It’s sad watching Spizzirri’s decline this year. He was really struggling against the UTRGV opponent

Really lucky to have him in the lineup at all; he can only slice on his backhand due to his left wrist injury. The fact that he has won the last 7 of his completed matches (after starting 2-4) with only half his shots shows how good of a player he is

  5. Unfortunately Texas didn't get the diving points they usually get.

Scoggin does a great job for the diving team. The women's diving team scored the most points at the national championships compared to other teams.

Just not the year for the men's diving team...Windle's legal issues, the national Canadian team member not enrolling, etc.

Texas comeback falls short. Ohio State wins 4-3. Coach Burke needs to get on the phone with Prairie View A&M for a double header so we don't miss the tournament with an under .500 record

Looks like Berque heard some rumblings...UTRGV match after Tech. Pretty sure that doubleheader was not there earlier in the season.

Texas def. ISU 6-1. Next weekend is the crucial Oklahoma swing which will probably decide the Big 12 title.

Cowgirls lost a heartbreaker to UCF today 4-3. UCF won 3 3rd set matches that included an 8-6 score in the tiebreaker.

Can the women make some noise? Moved up from 11th to 7th after a couple events. Still quite a bit of events left

Most likely a 2nd place finish with Florida being the champs

  9. Cracked Racquets podcast did a number of interview pre season with some college head coaches. Tech coach said that their middle part of the lineup would be the weakest. True to form, Texas had some convincing victories.

Next up is TCU. Was shut out to Baylor yesterday.

I thought that .500 requirement was scrapped after what happened @ Arkansas a few years back?
Anyways, the final score today was Texas winning 4-3 over aggy.

My understanding was that the .500 requirement was temporarily waived for the 2021 season. This was due to teams having limited traveling capabilities for a full non conference schedule. I have not seen the requirement waived for this season yet (last year I believe it was waived mid season). From what I've heard a lot of the Power 5 coaches want that requirement to be removed.

Somebody explain this to me. In the team slalom competition last night, US goes against Norway for the bronze medal. US is down 2-1. Radamus goes last. The announcers say that he has to win by at least 0.4 seconds in order to get the tiebreaker. They race and the Norwegian guy doesn’t finish the race, but Norway wins the tiebreaker. WTF?

What the announcer meant was it had to be 0.4 seconds faster than the previous Norwegian male time. Tiebreakers are combine fastest men and women's time. Female Norwegian was faster than US time (24.32 vs 24.72). Previous round the male Norwegian skier was 24.02. Last American was 24.04. Thus Norway won.

Yep. She's good. But there is a 5 point CCP bump. It's stupid. Her 1st run was better than her second... but it's 2 points higher.

Gu added a 540 spin on her second run. Second run was plainly better than her first.

No way was Sharpe better. She missed a lot of her grabs. If you look at the replays, you see Sharpe repeated opening and closing her hands trying to reach her skis.

OU plays UNC in the finals ITA indoor finals tomorrow. Last year it was us that played UNC in the finals. Its a good thing we play OU at home this year, otherwise OU would be the clear favorite to win the conference

Actually I think Texas will be playing OU on the road this year

Was the half pipe fucked up like everything else or do the women normally get no air?  Cause that’s terrible either way.  They are getting above the lip like once maybe twice?

That's the way women normally are on the half pipe

On the broadcast, it was mentioned how great the facility was

  15. Playing against Missouri tomorrow indoors. Missouri is constantly in the bottom of the SEC but has shown that they can beat top 30 teams in the past. Still weak enough that hopefully the Zamarripa twins can get some court time.

  16. Playing Baylor today in non conference match, Baylor has had a lukewarm year so far. Did not make it out of their ITA regional as host losing to USC. Also had a really bad loss against unranked BYU.

Like Texas, Baylor's lineup is freshmen heavy

is jordan larson the best american hitter ever?

Larson is a great all around player but if you're talking about a pure hitting ability- I wouldn't even put her into top 5 of American history. Larson never fit into the OH1 role as a national team player. In the early years, it was Logan Tom and once Logan Tom retired, the role was given to Kim Hill.
