Fisher is very good at the "control your local town press/police" part of the job, and always has been. Now he gets to align that with the existing structure of Pravdaggy "journalism".

Eh, he had a hard time with the FSU Rivals and 247 guys, especially Corey Clark at Rivals. He and Jimbo got into screaming matches over what Jimbo considered misrepresentations and unfair treatment. Clark used to write for the Tally paper and he called Jimbo out for misrepresenting why EJ Manuel was out. Manuel had a concussion at that time and Jimbo said it was for other reasons. Jimbo called Clark up and screamed at him for "questioning his integrity". Clark went right back at him. Jimbo didn't like that he got called on lying through his teeth.

I can't see any Aggy writers or pundits doing that. Deifying their coaches usually gets in the way of that.

Why didn’t Jimbo use this amazing 3-star-from-the-northeast strategy when he was at FSU?

Because his in-state competition for recruits was practically non-existent. Miami and Florida were both down for most of Jimbo's tenure there and Clemson wasn't as much of a pull early on as they are now.

  3. Stan Wilcox was a turd of an AD for FSU. You won't find any FSU fan who says otherwise or misses the guy. Wilcox and Jimbo absolutely hated each other but no one in the admin liked Jimbo.

This can be chalked up as a lesson in not burning bridges. Fisher has burned a shitload of them in the CFB business and this time it bit him in the ass.

Hamm Lite on 6’5” 350 pound FL DT Desmond Watson ::

He is now officially down to just A&M and Florida. Those had been his top two, but it is now the final two.

Also, he has been adamant that he wants to wait until after his official visits before making a decision. However, he said today that he might move it up a bit if the dead period keeps being extended. Right now, it runs through the end of August. If it is pushed back again, Watson may just make a decision.

Some people think Florida is the likely destination and it will be interesting to see how A&M handles things with Vaka already committed and the Aggies being after Tywone Malone and Taleeq Robbins as well as a number of bigger SDEs.

I'll have a full update in the morning.

    https://247sports.com/Player/Desmond-Watson-46050369/

    also from that thread ::

Watson's size is similar to Vaka but A&M has told him he is too athletic to simply play as a nose.

I would honestly be shocked if Watson picked Aggy. Armwood has traditionally been a Gator feeder school.

He is committing on Monday at Noon. I am guessing most people have already realized he is not headed to A&M but I figure with his announcement nearing that people might ask. He is not going to be announcing for A&M.

    Which leads to ...

  6. That o-line coach is the most bitter dude on the planet. He's the one who single-handedly delivered the FSU OL grad transfer to Bama over A&M because he's still so chafed that Fisher didn't bring him to College Station with him. Thing is, the guy should have been let go at FSU long before he was but the administration there wouldn't let him make changes. That was a big part of the issue of why he ultimately left when folks who didn't really understand how bad things had gotten in terms of Florida State being second-rate in terms of support and infrastructure couldn't comprehend why he'd leave Tallahassee.

    This is pure horseshit 😂

Trickett had nothing to do with Landon Dickerson's transfer. Fisher had AMPLE opportunities to replace Trickett and the administration was not handcuffing him from doing so. Fisher's staff at FSU was Top 10 in total compensation. He just chose to distribute it poorly. That's not on the administration. That's on Jimbo.

Jimbo and Trickett had a strained relationship in the last few years he was there. Fisher wants yes men and he sets the tone for what his coordinators and position coaches run.

Sometimes it helps to know these things.

Sometimes it helps if you don't attempt to speak about things you know nothing about fat ass

Aggie 247 / Brian Perroni / Looking at A&M's safety board: Who will the Aggies land?

Looking at A&M's safety board: Who will the Aggies land?

    Brian Perroni

Texas A&M is looking for one or two safeties in the class of 2021. Like with the previous classes, the Aggies are going to be very selective in who they decide to truly pursue heavily.

Right now, there are really four or five names that are targets with two or three of those a bit out front.

-Tallahassee (Fla.) John Paul II S Terrion Arnold

A&M is incredibly high on Arnold, who was recently ranked as the No. 2 safety in the country by 247Sports. He has the offer list to match with over 40 schools having extended them.

Arnold was supposed to visit Aggieland for the spring game last month and not being able to have visitors at that point was a big blow, especially since he still says he wants to commit before the season. A&M would need to get him to camp in August, should camps even be allowed then and A&M deciding to hold them.

Though he does not have any public favorites, in-state foes Florida and Florida State are in good shape as is Alabama. Arnold has known Jimbo Fisher for a long time and the A&M head coach is personally involved in the recruitment. But, the Aggies really need to get him on campus at some point.

    -Beggs (Okla.) S Kendal Daniels

Though some schools have mentioned a hybrid position to Daniels, A&M likes the 6-foot-4, 190-pound defender a lot as a pure safety.

Like Arnold, Daniels was planning to be at A&M’s spring game. When visits are allowed again, the Tulsa-area prospect should have an easier time getting to Aggieland than Daniels, though.

Daniels is very high on in-state Oklahoma and the Sooners are the team to beat at the moment. But, at least for now, the four-star wants to take all of his official visits before making a decision. A&M and Clemson are two places that seem likely to receive visits.

This one is an uphill battle but there is legitimate interest on Daniels’ part and the Aggies are also very, very high on him.

-Canonsburg (Pa.) Peters Township S Donovan McMillon

Out of this group of four players, the 6-foot-2, 193-pound defender could be the most likely to end up at A&M. Ranked as a four-star prospect by 247Sports, the Pittsburgh-area standout has a number of impressive offers.

However, the question remains as to who will still have room out of those. Many of the schools already have quite a few commitments and can afford to be extremely selective with the final spots.

McMillon is actually currently really open and is not as far along in the process as others when it comes to truly narrowing things down. However, he is in regular contact with A&M and will almost assuredly take an official visit to Aggieland.

-Miami (Fla.) Northwestern S Kamren Kinchens

On Friday, the four-star safety included Texas A&M in his top five. He has never been to Aggieland but has some good friends who have and have talked it up to him.

Right now, Auburn is probably the team to beat for the athletic defensive back. But, if A&M is able to land Miami Central running back Amari Daniels and makes a push for Kinchens’ teammate, four-star wide receiver Romello Brinson, it will help the Aggies’ chances with Kinchens as well.

As of now, the South Florida defender wants to take his official visits before making a decision. With him having never been to Aggieland, it is very important for A&M to get him on campus should they decide to truly make a hard push.

-Oakdale (Conn.) St. Thomas More Prep S Marques Buford

Buford was a member of the 2020 class at Cedar Hill Trinity Christian but is headed to prep school in Connecticut for this coming season. The 6-foot, 190-pound athlete has added a number of offers as of late, including ones from A&M, Iowa State and Pitt this past Thursday.

Buford is originally from Chicago but spent the past two seasons in the Metroplex. He is open to playing just about anywhere at the next level, regardless of location.

Buford plays on both sides of the ball but projects to safety at the next level. We are supposed to catch up with him soon to see where things stand.

    -Frisco Centennial S Caleb Ellis

Ellis is a bit of a wildcard in this and the only player in this group who does not have an A&M offer at this point.

The 6-foot, 180-pound three-star defender has seen some big interest as of late. He was offered by Stanford on Saturday and picked up offers from Arkansas and Northwestern in the past two weeks.

Now, he has been in communication with the Aggies as well. Ellis is a guy that normally A&M would love to get on campus for summer camp, but there might not be that luxury this year. The Aggies are looking closely at him and he knows there is interest from the Maroon and White.

If Ellis is offered, it would not be an automatic that he would commit, but it would definitely put the Aggies up there at or near the top.

They don't have a shot at Terrion Arnold. He's either FSU or Bama bound.

    Ryan Brauninger

    11:14p, 5/4/20

    Staff

    - I spoke to a Florida source today that was able to give me a little more local feedback on the pulse of some of A&M's targets from the Sunshine State. Here's what he said...

DT Desmond Watson - sounds like there's a large consensus that feels like he's going to be a Gator at this time.
WR Romello Brinson - didn't have a great feel for that one but felt like he could stay close to home with Miami.
RB Amari Daniels - he said he's heard it's Texas A&M or Penn State with the Aggies having the edge
Kamren Kinchens - Auburn making a huge push. Aggies still hanging around.

He also mentioned that he did not believe LB Terrence Lewis was a take for Florida, Florida State, or Miami at the time he made his decision to commit to Tennessee.

No shit Lewis wasn't a take for FSU, UF or UM. The kid has serious baggage.

Of the 4 that Brauninger listed, the only one they have a possibility of getting is Amari Daniels and supposedly Ja'Juan Seider is bringing the house to get him to go to PSU. Watson is locked into the Gators and Brinson is also being pushed by UGA and LSU.

    Billy,

Your high dollar coach has not fielded a competent O-line in like a decade.  And the recruiting has been awful in terms of ratings and fit (fat short and short armed 3 stars aren't going to be good).  And he actually recruited quality OL at FSU.

That's debatable but Florida State is an easier draw than Aggy, considering it's a higher premium brand and they've actually won something in this lifetime.

I took a peak at SEC Rant recruiting and found some stuff on this 5* LB.

Just dropped a top 6 with no Florida schools.

Poster said he was kicked out of his previous school and Miami dropped his offer.

Has same handler as Donnel Harris.

    What says you @TBGFL

Yes, he punched a teacher. He's got multiple red flags. Even Mullen, who will take red flags and reaches, has backed away.

Both Trickett and Henson were well respected OL coaches before working for Jimbo. Neither specialized in fatass cubes.

Fatass cubes are Jimbo's specialty. He makes his coaches adapt to what he wants to run, like he did with Trickett, Turner and now Henson. When Jeremy Pruitt was DC at FSU, a booster made a comment to him about how great a job his defense has done. His response was "It's Jimbo's defense".

No way she just put Jimbos name in her phone without actually having his number. Nah. That first digit looks like an 8, guess he kept his Tallahassee number. Probably plans on going back after he fucks over aggy for $75 mil.

That ain't happening. That bridge was blown to shit.

Perroni has an article up saying a ton of high rated Florida kids are visiting this weekend.  Coley about to hand out a room full of money bags.

I saw that article. They're trying to spin up the base because all of those kids Perroni listed are going to be longshots for Aggy.

Another really good Martin House beer (Outstellar...a black currant sour) plus a tasty tropical pale ale from Cigar City (Invasion) as I enjoy the first post-yard work beers of March/post-winter.

They used to do a rotating hop variety in this beer. Always very well made.

They just started canning their Florida Man DIPA which is extremely good. 10 years ago, Cigar City was untouchable in Florida but now, with outsourced production of their core stuff, it's fallen off a bit. It's still good beer but Jai Alai is not even remotely as good as it was when it was made on premises.

any recs for Orlando breweries, will be there next weekend

Ellipsis out near MCO is good. They're a mostly NEIPA shop but they make good stuff. They're probably top 3 in the state for NEIPAs after Southern Swells and Civil Society.

Ten10, Castle Church, Half Barrel Beer Project, Tactical, Dead Lizard and Rockpit are all good.

Ten10 had a Cinnamon Toast Crunch Stout that was fucking awesome.

Breweries in Orlando are pretty spread out. Be prepared to hop around on toll roads.

So Looch is saying that Raymond wanted the Aggy gig twice and Jimbo turned him down for Linguist and Rushing? That's what he's going with? Because that would be quite the indictment on Jimbo. Looch, you may want to walk this one back on your podcast or one of your next threads. Yes, we know you are reading surly. (Hi Hamm!!)

That's what it sounds like. Not sure how he reconciles the fact that Jimbo grossly overpaid for Rushing. I can't keep up with the TexAggy spin.

"Corey Raymond turned us down so I'm going to offer $675K to a guy that doesn't have anywhere near the resume or track record Raymond has"

    Yeah.....still not following.
