For rationale adults, admitting you made a mistake and taking steps to correct it is not considered weak or hypocritical

I'll check it, thank you. I've been posting on the football board for 6+ years, and shaggy before that, and hornfans before that. I've had no problems with negs or hostility on there.

But how do you handle the low IQ fucking idiots?

sorry yall. end of the month stress got to me.  misplaced frustration all around.

special apology to @SydneyCarton for my prickly defensiveness

No apologies necessary, buddy. I almost sent you a PM to see if you were doing all right. And it's not like I'm not an asshole. We all say stupid shit on the internet sometimes.

I am going to fly to Austin, sit on the tailgate of my truck in the Whip-in parking lot, drink a bud heavy and literally beat the shit out of you morons one by one.

Finals end in a week. Coverage* ends in a week. Coverage is a handful of international students and International Relations nerds. 50 individuals arrested with only half having ties to UT out of 50,000 person campus. Do the math.

Biden was born in 42. He’s not a boomer.

The DEA today had 5 people confirm they’re going forward with rescheduling cannabis to schedule 3.

And with a snap of my finger, none of you are allowed in my Biden thread any more.

If you have to fly to Austin, how are you going to sit on the bed of *your* truck?

What is deporting 11 million people going to do to inflation and the economy!? JFC, you think things are expensive now, how much is it going to cost to frame a house/buy a package of strawberries/go out to eat/literally everything that laborers touch?

The same stupid fuckers who say things like "no one wants to work anymore" can't see any problems with this?

Not to mention the pure evil of ripping that many families apart, but they don't care about that. (probably a welcomed side effect actually)

If it didn't also come with a complete end to Democracy, and living in a fascist state with an uncertain future for my son, I would 100% be cheering for this to happen to watch all of these people get exactly that for which they have asked.

I am not sure where to put this?  Either here are in "Trivial Things That Make You Surly".

I went to Hobby Lobby this past Saturday looking for some bookends.  I looked in what I thought would be a logical location for them but did not find any.  I found two young employees and asked them if they had any bookends.  Neither one of them knew what bookends were.  I found myself describing to them what bookends were and what they typically look like.  You would have thought that I was describing quantum physics to them.  Does anyone read or keep books anymore?

Not the kind of people who work at Hobby Lobby...

hold on i need to check Newsmax.

you come at me with ad hominem bullshit like that and expect civility?

    go fuck yourself.

biden is a boomer doing or allowing cruel boomers to do boomer things.

did i miss where he decried our governor sending in goons to back up a peaceful protest? he's always had a tough on crime old school boomer mindset. that's why he isn't succeeding with the youth.

but keep telling kids about infrastructure I'm sure they fucking love that

I described your childish behavior with an apt comparison. Clearly it hit a little too close to the mark, you don't seem pissed and sensitive about it at all. I'm sorry you're a sensitive little boy, Tommy.

oh hey guys I'm totally over here trying to have a serious discussion with Newsmax guy here. from the jump, i came into this discussion like a reasoned, calmer than you are person, you all saw, and Newsmax guy over here might have sarcastically stated that old man crime bill biden might enjoy uppity youngsters getting smacked around. WE CAN'T HAVE THAT GET THAT NEWSMAX SHIT OUT OF HERE KNOWN POSTER WITH THE SAME USERNAME FOR 25+ YEARS! STOP TROLLING LIKE INCREDULITY

    whatever

yall keep telling young people what to care about

You literally suggested with no hint of evidence that the President of the United States loves watching college students get their skills cracked. And at any point, you could have claimed you were pissed and went too far, or didn't really mean it, or walk it back. Instead you've doubled and tripled down at me for being critical of your shittastic HAWT TAKE, and you're acting all butthurt becuase you're acting like a MAGA fucktard who watches newsmax.

You are a known poster of 25 years. Which is why it's so perplexing to see you go completely off the fucking deep end on this topic. But yeah, I'm sure you were just being sarcastic and continuing to be sarcastic. Which, btw, if it were true, you could have just said "I was being sarcastic you dumb motherfucker" the first time. But you didn't.

Biden’s been an extremely consequential president in a good way for young people, on everything from worker protections to reproductive rights to climate.  His accomplishments would be even more impressive if not for judicial and legislative obstructions from the same people who support his opponents.

On the other hand, it’s easy to imagine him having the wrong feelings when watching protests get broken up even though there’s no evidence for that at all.

    So I guess it’s a wash.

Don't be so subtle. I'm not sure hayden is going to get it.

i know i know if course your are right but fuck.

i don't even want him to go free Palestine but you know some part of him enjoys watching protesting kids get their heads cracked by state police riot goons

Where in the fuck are you pulling this completely fabricated bullshit from? Why don't you just come out next and tell everyone that he's brain damaged and his handlers are injecting him with drugs to do speeches. Just completely made up bullshit, straight out of Newsmax. Get the fuck out of here with this stupid unhinged garbage.

What’s happening on campus is reflective of a growing sentiment among Texans who are tired of feeling like we live in an apartheid state. The right wingers have gotten so aggressive in their quest to make us 1950s Texas, that people are finally beginning to pay attention.

And the young people still won't vote.

I'd be curious to see when people think conservatism veered away from small government, state's rights, individual freedoms, etc.

If you ask all the big government, authoritarian loving republicans who want to legilslate a woman's body, they'd tell you that conervatism is still all about those.

So I will assume you meant "curious what the people on this forum think." AKA voting democrats.

In action I think the actual veer happened in 2021...right around inaugeration day.

Wisconsin and Georgia make me the most nervous.

Like others, I feel good about Wisconsin becuase of the people in control of the state government and the new maps should galvanize voters, mostly D. But maybe I'm overly optimistic.

  14. I hope I'm wrong. But we'll see.

Few people feel good about what's on the line this fall, and at the end of the day, if Trump were to win he's going to have to win states he lost in 2020. What states are the most likely?

Better human being? 1000X yes. He is by all accounts and kind and decent man. But the Bush body count is incredibly high and I can’t look past it.
Donald Trump may very well have finished off the American experiment, but no president ever left such an extreme  a legacy of human suffering with less to show for it than George W. Bush.

Over a million dead from Covid is a hell of a body count.

I haven't checked historical voting patterns yet, but I can't see GA and NC going opposite directions. I'd bet they have similar tendencies, except NC moved farther left than GA in 2008, while GA moved farther left in 2020.

I think there were a lot of GA voters who didn't bother in 2020 becuase they thought they were solidly red. Plus bad Senate candidates. I think they'll find some more voters in 2024 than they did in 2020, enought to eek it back red.

    1 hour ago, immamac said:

If Georgia goes R then Trump will win. If any state is getting redder that isn’t already solid red that’s a bad sign for everything. I can’t fathom Atlanta becoming more willing to vote for trump than in 2020.

Biden could lose GA and still win if he keeps AZ. Hell, Biden could lose NV and GA and still win. So for your prediction to happen, it means that other states flipped from Red to Blue. Which ones are you proposing?
