My take is while I’m happy he hit on the deep balls there is still room for improvement. Both Worthy and AD made really good catches but had either one dropped those people would have come down on the respective receiver when Ewers could have given them much easier passes to catch. My take is I'd much rather him work to get better on his placement on deep balls instead of having the WRs have to make difficult catches as the former will increase the success rate.

uh....better placement on a ball that went 54 yds in the air?...Say what? How much better do you want it? My nomination for dumb take of the year!

I find it somewhat shocking that Shaun Alexander has an award named after him.  I mean, nice player and all, but doesn’t quite fit in at the table with Jim Thorpe, Bronko Nagurski, Doak Walker, etc.

Why not? Butkis has an award named after him and Butkis could not carry Nobis' jock

  3. I dont know why I think this but I was under the impression that we were going to get less than a full share from the getgo. I also thought we might get something back for folding in the LHN into the SEC network. OU was pissed because they didnt have a LHN to fold in. Seems like that was why this thing took so long to finally happen.

Then again I may have been deep in a Tequila dream and none of this happened at all....

That's completely fair - my ears start burning when I hear people downplay a lack of momentum in recruiting by saying "don't fill up on bread." But for me, the time to start worrying begins in July or August. Especially when our big weekend is still coming up. I'll save the rest of my thoughts for the 9.95 board, but I do share your concerns. Just not yet.

    wait!!!....Surly has a 9.95 board?

he's faster and stronger than Nobis and very productive on the field, not just physical metrics.

stronger??? That was what made Nobis a freak. More productive??? Hager was nowhere near as strong as Nobis....and production?....over 20 tackles a game for his career?....My God man!. What kind of production do you want from a MLB? Oh, and that little deal of Nobis making AA as an O-Lineman might have been considered productive as well.

DJ was God like, but Nobis was God. The crime in the whole deal was naming the best LB award the Butkis award instead of the Nobis award. Nobis had twice the college career Butkis did

2009 was not a special offense. They scored 16 against an average OU team. They barely scored double digits against Nebraska with it all on the line with the D giving up about 110 yards to NU.

For 2008, I gave the appropriate players the credit. The rest played well enough to allow that to happen. Colt is one of the most underappreciated players of all time.

If you want to debate who’d make the two deep, then go ahead. My original point was that Ewers would have betters weapons at his disposal than Colt did when he made his leap as a QB. Outside of Colt, there was what 1 offensive guy drafted or maybe two from 2008/09. That’s pretty weak star power for a national champ contender.

I will not debate that the 2008 &09 teams did not have great running backs....but with all respect....to think that Worthy could even hold Shipley's jock is just pure lack of football knowledge.....Perhaps in the future Worthy will show up and show out, but as DKR would say about potential....he aint done it yet...

As the Texas Longhorns continue with their spring practice sessions in 2023, they are working hard to prepare for the upcoming season. The team has undergone significant changes since last year, including the addition of new players and coaching staff.

One of the most significant additions to the Longhorns' roster is quarterback Quinn Ewers, who transferred from Ohio State. Ewers has quickly become a leader on the team, impressing coaches and teammates alike with his skills and work ethic. He has been working closely with offensive coordinator Kyle Flood to learn the new offensive system and develop chemistry with his teammates.

Running back Jonathon Brooks has also been standing out during spring practices. He had a breakout season in 2022 and is expected to be a key player for the Longhorns in 2023. Brooks has been working hard to improve his skills as a runner and receiver, and he has also been working on his pass blocking.

Javion Sweat, a defensive end, has also been making an impact during spring practices. He has been working hard to improve his technique and develop his pass-rushing skills. Sweat is expected to be a key player for the Longhorns' defense in 2023.

On defense, the Longhorns are working hard to adjust to the new scheme implemented by defensive coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski. While they will miss DeMarvion Overshown and Luke Brockermeyer, who have moved on to the NFL, they have several talented players who are stepping up to fill their shoes. Defensive back Darian "D.D." Demery has been leading the secondary and is expected to be a key player for the Longhorns in 2023.

Overall, the Longhorns are making progress during spring practices and are working hard to build a cohesive team that can compete at a high level. With Ewers leading the offense, Brooks leading the rushing attack, and Sweat leading the defense, the Longhorns have a lot of talent and potential. They will continue to work hard in the coming months to prepare for the season ahead.

I dunno about this one. What stood out to me was that every damned line said how hard we were working.....well except that it was pointed out that we would miss Brockermeyer????

  8. I would think there is a chance....however small it may be that some of the team might actually be able to play a bit faster just due to better understanding of the system alone. Never mind that they might even improve due to work and effort. If we have any luck at all on the injury front we have a chance to be greatly improved.'

I suggest some of y'all start buying the large size tampons to help stop that damned vagina squeek.

Last years team was a 10 win minimum team talent wise, maybe even 11. Shithead Steve decided that J Brooks should ride the pine because he's a braindead fucking moron.

You will never convince me that with Sarklostagain at the helm that this team will win anything important, because to do that you have to outcoach someone.

I concede that you know much more about this game than I ever will, but with all respect....We did not have Bijan...or Rojo...or agent O and several others along the D line. I agree that we could have won the Washington game, but I also know we did  not get to "Dance with the ones that brung us".  As for Brooks.....he had hernia issues. We were going with our 4th string RB....
