All kidding aside, there is a lot of truth to this. These kids endure a lot of crap and I don't think the blows are lessened by being compensated via NIL. I don't think the kids in our program will be psychologically crushed if we don't win the national title or the Big 12. They know what kind of team we really have. But bizarre losses like the one to Kansas, and all of the public humiliation that comes with that, really hits these young men hard.
Sark is in control of much of this. He can ad players from the portal at key positions to bolster the team. He can call plays that suit our players and not a system. He can hire the proper coaches and not retain coaches that have obviously failed down to an unacceptable level. It is very difficult to square Sark caring about the mental health of our players with the decisions he makes.
wait a minute.... is it really as easy as that?...You need a player at a key position so coach is supposed to be able to go out and get them?....Is any team able to do that? I know Caleb Williams went to USC, but he was following his coach. I thought the players in the portal were the ones that couldnt crack the lineup where they were. Has any Portal guy turned in an AA season at the new place? I understand what you are saying....I just dont agree it is that easy.

Hmmm... Texas at 21 and25 seems about right....

There is no evidence....how could there be.The fact is he has no real game experience. He will take some time to grow. I am willing to let him grow. I bet he gets better and better....but I don't expect Joe Montana from day one.

Fuck the scheme. Get back toe when Sweat and Coburn,Coburn get under 650 lbs collectively. Until then we are shit on defense.
-
Goddamit!...Ewers has an all world arm and a freshman head. He will make great throws and bonehead plays.Live with it for a year.

I'd agree, but a DC is not going to implement one defense, teach it, the change it later.
However, a good coach can take his defense and give it layers. PK can treat the 245 as a 425 by varying how much he asks the OLBs to do... It could all look the same.... 425, 336(stack), 425... It could all act the same... Just depends on what the coach wants out of the front 6.
I would be happy with some disruption, pressure, and tackling out of the front 6

To help you with your research...
16 Longhorns have been drafted in the First round since 2000....
-
So you are saying Earl Campbell was not drafted ???
Bogus list....

I will shit a golden bottle of Cutty Sark and light @BurntOrange&White on fire if Marcus Washington is playing meaningful snaps over Neyor next season.
This is the type promise that separates Surly from all other sites. Add in Futuremans guarantee last year and you can see the dedication...

I just read the last 3 pages and, I don't know how this is possible, but they're actually completely shittier pages than the pages where I go on rants about Seven Loss Steve having done nothing to merit the benefit of the doubt from us here. We have to be the most worthless gaggle of fucktards on the Internet outside of the various groups of mouthbreathing, room-temperature-IQ blowhards spewing volumes of ignorant takes on the SEC boards. Fuck.
Please...you are making me blush...

So reading a couple pages of this thread too catch up and I realize....
We really just make shit up and run with it likes it's real or like it happened/didn't happen...
I read a few responses where the posters just said a thing, called it truth, and used it as the basis for the rest of the post... Even though the thing was not necessarily true (or just outright false.)
I'll keep reading the made up stuff, but damn, fellas....
I thought that was why we came to this site in the first place....

Only Brian Davis would thinks fans give a fuck about how "comfortable" QB's are with the media instead of, ya know, how comfortable/productive they are as an actual QB. I continue to be amazed that dumb son of a bitch can manage to be employed as a sports writer.
Goddammit!...I hate that ....when a sports writer doesnt have a clue what else to write he says ....so and so is more comfortable .....AAAARRRRRGH!...What in hell does that even mean? I want the bastards to play football and have no mercy on the other guy. Comfortable my ass!

I have been thinking about those comparisons a page or so back between Aikman and Ewers. At first I was thinking ...wow!...if only......
Then I remembered that Aikman at Ewers age was a 3rd string wishbone QB whose coach liked him so much he helped him transfer....

Bahaha this is incredible. The mix of utter stupidity and unintentional racism is truly exceptional, even for the Football board.
what is the sign at the Store in Study Butte?.......something like....This is the place where brilliant minds pool ignorance with questionable logic in order to form absurd conclusions......
Sounds like Surly to me....

I get that we have crappy O linemen. However, I have to believe that with decent coaching even crappy O linemen ought to be able to act in concert to somewhat disrupt the defense. Last year every play looked like we had drawn in up in the dirt in the huddle and "sprung" assignments on the Oline. For that reason alone I think we might be a bit better. Surely in 2 years our vaunted coaching staff might be able to teach some basic skills.....
Jesus!.....what was I thinking?Our Line?....skills?....Doom!

Best running back group. Not the best running back
I understand what you are saying, but if you have a guy that can gain yards every time blocking or no, and you never take out of the game, anyone else is irrelevant.
However, point taken, we are loaded at RB.

This may be the best RB group we’ve ever had.
I am sorry, but the best RB we have ever had was Earl Campbell and who ever else was playing RB at the same time.

I heard from a guy today that was at practice....He said Ewers was way ahead of Card....said that there was not a throw Ewers could not make. That was the good news. The bad news was that the only guys on the team that could catch at all were the RB's. He said we might have the best RB room in the country. That was the good news. The bad news was that the OL was terrible. He said they did not cast shadows because they cant even block sunshine.
now send me those 9.95 checks please....
