What a fucking pathetic post. “We didn’t beat anyone with a pulse”. We beat a Kansas State team who is about to be ranked top 10 in the country ON THE ROAD. There is 1 or 2 home losses TOTAL for teams in the top 10 and the university of Texas is responsible for one.

What about today made you feel worse? Was it Ohio State losing the first time they played a team who could throw a forward pass after their previous 11 opponents had a combined 61-65 record ? Or was it #5 LSU, whose second best win after beating Bama is mediocre Mississippi fucking State, losing to a sorry A&M team? Or was it pastor Dabo continuing his slow decline by refusing to adapt? Or I bet it was watching darling Oregon piss away their hopes and dreams against Oregon State.

Please tell us more about how today’s slate of college football spelled doom for the future of Texas.

We saw most of the traditional powers over the last decade take one to the knee cap yesterday and through the year. Parity is coming faster than we would have expected since the handful of teams that were paying players have lost their schematic advantage. Too bad Bama couldn’t lose but they are declining.

OU went 6-6 and appears to have hired a coach on par with our latest hires or worse and aggy managed to go 5-7 after laughing at us for that record all off season.

Regardless of your opinion on Sark (I’m waiting for next year to decide) yesterday was a major win for programs like Texas that can now stockpile talent by paying players.

  2. 8-4 is not stellar but it is solid progress. I can’t remember if it was Umlang or somewhere else that I read that this is the first time we haven’t lost back to back games in a regular season since 2009. We are still a program learning to win.

After the pathetic showing against TCU I would have bet against Texas winning the last 2 to get to 8-4. I’m glad Sark realized he has a very rare back that deserves more than 12 touches in any game he is healthy.

And Auburn is the biggest cesspool in college football. People were undermining Harsin before he stepped off the plane. They’ll do the same thing to Lane or anyone else.

They think championships are their birthright and they have no problem doing whatever they think necessary to get their way. They constantly meddle. They’re the larger than life version of what people falsely accuse us of being.

    Also true

Yeah I don't get that Auburn is a better job than Ole Miss.  Not at all.  Auburn is little brother to a Saban coached Alabama.  Ole Miss is big brother to Miss St.

Ole Miss along with Vandy, Kentucky, and A&M are the only SEC teams to never have gone to the SEC Championship. Auburn won the National Championship 12 years ago. Big difference in programs and support.

The board absolutely suffers from group think. Always has. You can set your watch by it. There are technical reasons why we lose or struggle, but you guys throw all that shit out the window. Last week we couldn't run the football. That was because TCU's aggressive front was whipping the interior of our line. We are weak at the guard/center spot, and teams try to attack us there. Whether you have the manpower to do that to us or not dictates if we can run on you not how many times we hand it to Bijan. TCU backed that up by loading the box. KU did not and paid the price.

A lot of people on this board struggle seeing what is going on, or aren't watching the game fully. They say shit like we made no adjustments in the second half when we did but they didn't work. It's happened time and time again. We call for the backup when the starter is struggling and then find out why the backup is the backup. I argue those points and here we are. "Ryan Watts sucks we need to get him out of there". Backup comes in and immediately gives up explosives. This is who Surly is.

I, for one, appreciate your commitment to the two space paragraph indentation to begin each and every response. Your third grade teacher would be so proud.

Wasn’t someone in this thread earlier this week sucking off Napier for back to back wins against A&M and South Carolina and how much they’ve improved over the course of the season.

Down 14-6 to Vandy as a two touchdown favorite.

I’ll own it. Name checks and all that. Pathetic performance today by gata

Could they beat KState? On the road. At night.

By the way I’m not saying our season or trajectory is heading. But the trajectory can change the next two weeks.

For the past two seasons, we’ve won fewer games than we easily could or should have. That isn’t changing no matter how the next 3-4 games go.

Would they beat this Texas team if they met on a neutral field this weekend?  Absolutely

Just heard Joel Klatt call Sark the next Scott Frost. Ouch.

He just did a whole radio segment on how the good coaches can turn around a team in 6 mo now instead of 3 years with NIL and the portal. See Lincoln Riley and others.

Sark isn’t going to make it.

I’ve been to three Florida games this year and watched the rest on TV. The difference between how the season started for UF and the 2nd half ass whipping they laid on A&M and absolute demolition of USC last weekend is a whole different team than started the year.

  9. I didn’t post the TCU record as some discussion point on how great of a coach Sonny Dukes is but to emphasize the point that you can go from bad to good in a hurry if you actually coach the team.

We aren’t required to have a 7-5 or 8-4 season before we can win 10 games.

We managed to hire the football version of Shaka Smart complete with the idiotic tagline that doesn’t match the product on the field. Seven win Steven can stack up tons of talent but he can’t coach a team to trophies. If he would just start slapping the field after he squats to look at his play sheet we would have a carbon copy.

  10. 8-4 (aka the Aggie standard) is the minimum acceptable level for a Texas Football team. It isn’t a good record but it is ok. 9-3 is good and anything better is very good or great.

TCU was 5-7, 6-4, 5-7 the last three years and are now 10-0. We have a shit coach that will get us to 7-5 with the best talent in the conference. This isn’t that hard. We should be 8-2 right now minimum, but we have a fucking idiot running the program (again).

We will all watch 2-3 more years of mediocrity hoping we can maybe win ten games or at least make the conference championship, then we will hire some other slap dick and watch him fail too. It’s who we are now.

17 touches for our two best players. We loaded the box against TCU and what did they do? They kept giving the ball to their best player and eventually he made something happen. Weird how that works.

Could we throw one of our 50 yard jump balls we attempt 17 times per game to Bijan or JT or Whittington or anyone besides the guy who absolutely never catches it?

We really have seemingly nothing other than the marquee players.

Billingsley got a target, big drop.  Milton got one and backpedaled oob for no reason.  Sanders and Whitt had early drops.  Worthy worthied unworthily.

Other teams, including TCU, have backups or non-marquee players that step up and make plays.  We don't seem to.

We had three receivers catch balls last night.  TCU had 11.

This has been one of our biggest issues over the last decade plus. We supposedly have tons of talented players but we have very few playmakers.

Other teams have players that make tough catches when covered or break tackles for big gains. We have Bijan and RoJo but failed to feature either, and sometimes JWitt and JT who we found in the 2nd half but not early or often enough. I can’t name any other playmakers on offense.

Sark’s body language on the sidelines when shit turns sideways tells you all you need to know.

He squats down and buried his face in his play sheet and stares confused into the distance. How many times when they cut to a sideline shot is he taking to a player or another coach? Ya know…coaching?

He gets overwhelmed by the moment and goes to his happy place, which is staring at a bunch of plays on a piece of paper while the game goes on without him.

What was his Tom Herman bullshit in the tunnel before we came out where he is shoving players? It looked totally ridiculous and even the players seemed like WTF. It looked like someone scared to death trying to cover for it by fake “hyping” his players.

That was one of the most disappointing losses in a long time because it showed we really aren’t going anywhere with Sark as coach. Hopefully he at least stockpiles talent for the next guy.

Dikes got that one by working the officials for one earlier.

Yep. One of the many many ways he out coached Sark. Maybe one day we will hire a real coach too.

That no call on the Wiley blatant hold at the point of attack completely turned the game. Instead of 2nd and 21 inside the 5, they get a first down and score a the first td of the game a play later. Was an absolutely awful miss by the refs at the point of attack.

The TD run had a blatant hold on Watts two yards from the ball that wasn’t called either. But without a doubt the biggest fuckery was the “roughing the punter” call where literally no Texas player even touched him.
