If I was a coach I would only call the plays that work and never call the ones that don’t

If I was the coach I would feature my rock solid tail backs rather than have my Freshman QB chunk the ball to a diva WR that can’t catch.

Check out Alabama's 2020 OL and then compare it to ours.

    Report back.

Looking at my post above we outrushed Bama on 6 fewer attempts but fell a slight 1500 yards short passing on 20 less attempts. I wonder what we should have emphasized more?

So Sark was OC at Bama over the highest scoring offense in their history, or something like that???

After watching the Horn offense completely disappear for entire halves at critical times this year, I can't help but believe that it was Saban on the headset saying,

"...okay, Steve, second down, Smith needs the ball... give me a flair to the strong side that takes advantage of that new Corner they just subbed..."

and stuff like that on virtually every play Bama ran.

Sark (Headset)(Looking at clipboard): "X-25 right, swing 3 yada yada."

I had to look it up after this comment.

We had 7 games this year with less than 35 rushing attempts. Bama in 2020 had 3.

In both seasons the offense had two games with over 40 pass attempts, but Bama exceeded 35 rushing attempts in both while Texas was below 35 in both with the egregious 18 in that pathetic performance against Washington.

Saban most definitely told Sark to run the damn ball. The swings in game plan from game to game this year also show absolutely zero offensive identity. Bama was pretty consistent across the board from week to week.

You seem to think results without a process are repeatable. I don’t.

Exactly which results are we trying to repeat with Sarks process?

And claiming a team playing for the national title will suck next year so their Coach probably sucks is one of the most aggy things ever.

No, you're right about that. I'm not saying if you start the game off by giving ROJO 12 straight carries that doesn't mean you win. What I'm saying is we shied away from the running game way too fast in favor of a true freshman throwing deep balls to invisible receivers.

Here's a perfect example (because a common theme seems to be "TCU shut down Bijan") Here's TCU's commitment to their running game despite Texas "shutting it down"

Kendre Miller running sequence vs Texas

    1 for 5 yds

    2 for -3 yds

    3 for 4 yds

    5 for 6 yds

    6 for 4 yds

    7 for 2 yds

    8 for 4 yds

    9 for 2 yds

    10 for 5 yds

    11 for 3 yds

    12 for 5 yds

    13 for -1 yd

    14 for -1 yd

    15 for 4 yds

At this Point Miller had 15 carries for 39 yds  2.6 YPC

    ***16 for 75 yds TD***

    17 for 6 yds

    18 for 9 yds

    20 for 2 yds

    21 for 1 yd

    21 carries for 138 yds 1 TD 6.6 YPC

The point is, when you have a dynamic player like Bijan Robinson, he can take one to the house at any point in time. He was given 12 carries during this game which is down right criminal. Meanwhile, QE was given the green light to launch 39 throw punts.

Exactly my opinion. As I pointed out in the bowl thread, J Brooks had the only two TDs of the game for us on 8 total touches. How does our dipshit coaching staff not ride that guy for at least double that amount of touches?

Bijan should have had over 2000 total yards but we went Jack Pardee run and shoot in too many games.

Sark is the football analog to Shaka Smart. Capable of amassing a ton of talent but incapable of game day coaching.

Could have been a W with just Brooks getting more carries.

Maybe, but he couldn't find running room either when given the chance. His TD was technically a long handoff, but not running between the tackles.

He had 2 TDS in 8 touches. full stop.

I’m pissed because he was never given an actual chance to establish anything. If our idiot fucking coach can’t figure out that 14 carries by RBs (and K Rob barely fits that description) versus 47 (53?) pass attempts is a losing formula every time then he will never win anything.

He needs an actual OC to focus on running the offense. He gets severe tunnel vision.

I find it really fucking rich to bury Sarkisian who was playing with one offensive arm tied behind his back with Bijan and Roschon in street clothes. This. Game. Did. Not. Fucking. Matter (from a win/loss standpoint).

Sark decided to let Brooks ride the pine and let Ewers play run and shoot football and completely abandoned the running game just like he did in every loss this year. He hasn’t learned anything.

We have one fucking player costing us the game and some of you are acting like this is a program-defining loss.

This is as shitty as shitty gets but it isn't some commentary on where this team is headed.

They're gonna be fine. But #1 either needs to leave or have a long talk with Jesus.

At this point I would prefer he leave

  9. He is a small fast guy that gets bumped off of routes pretty easily but was incredibly misused because we really only had 2 WRs and one just completed his first healthy season. He is lightning quick and the moves he pulled on a few of those TDs were jaw dropping.

We need him on this team for his experience in the system and consistency. He is excellent as a 2 or 3 WR but not the go to guy. I really hope JWhitt comes back because we need his seniority in that room.

I was just curious what the reaction to his switch to 1 was. He’s always been 8 right? Johntay seems like the type to brush that off. But I seriously have to question the motivation.

Anybody have the story about how his players dreaded player meetings because when they’re ready to leave, a player could ask a question that could turn into a 45 min answer about something totally irrelevant to the question?

    That was a classic

I don't know this topic deserves additional discourse, but that's an over simplification of my thesis. I'm not saying that awards don't matter at all, but I do reject the inference that Bijan losing out on the Doak introduces any risk to our ability to sign Baxter. Maybe I mis-read the thrust of the debate as I was skimming through the replies, but I think the idea is absurd.

What were you saying? I couldn’t hear you because I had two Heismans in my ear…
