Was that from the storm that spawned the Cedar Park and Jarrell tornados? I was working at the Custom Sounds store that used to be on S. Congress and Academy when that storm hit. The straight line winds came right down Congress. Our storefront had two 4'x8' windows on the Academy side of the corner that had an aluminum strip between them that blew out and drove rain into the store like it had been shot out of a high pressure hose. Still can't believe the windows didn't break. There were limbs down and trees uprooted all over the place after that one.

I don't think so.  I remember hauling ass home to get ahead of the Jarrell tornado that was barreling south, and don't recall any damage near our neighborhood.

I don't think it was his wife.

^ this is the reality.  Alito has total job security.  He likely did it himself, or at the very least agrees with it.

The choice is “raise the black flag and start splitting throats.” The MTG’s of this world need to be attacked. Brutally, mercilessly, and relentlessly. She needs to be hated, mocked, and taunted in every aspect of her life, at every waking moment, driving her to insanity or suicide.
They don’t follow rules and norms. We shouldn’t either. It’s stupid to box under Marquess of Queensberry rules when your opponent is swinging a folding chair. The better move is to metaphorically swing a nail-studded baseball bat back at her, and anyone who supports her. And slash her tires. And burn her house down. And salt her fields. Do not stop until she is crushed and defeated. Then keep going and desecrate the corpse.
These are the rules now. Play by them.

Jesus, dude.  I was responding to someone who wondered if he was part of the problem because he laughed.  One can laugh at the absurdity and still feel compelled to fight back.

I love the comment in the report about DETECTIVE Gillis being in "full LMPD protective rain jacket".

Yeah, from the photos I saw they could have been street maintenance guys.  I'm sure it was a complete shitshow but cooler heads would have been nice.

You know that video will be the TV lead when Georgia comes to Austin this October.

I think they should try to get Bevo and UGA to make amends.

(I do believe that version of UGA is now deceased, though.)

I will have to dock you for the Lone Star Light. Their bartender is a trip.

???  Lone Star Light is far and away the best lower-alcohol macrobrew out there.  Sometimes people DON'T want to get ripped.

I would prefer dickheads out of bail to not be out playing real life GTA on our streets. Apparently tongue in cheek comments are too much for you to handle.  Sorry wheels hurt your feels.

WTF does that have to do with this particular case?  Do you not support the rule of law?

    Don't answer that.

Of course I didn't attempt any math.  Just a reminder of the sheer amount of net takers in our society.  We can bitch all we want about the "rich", but there's a whole lot of nothing being contributed by a whole lot of people.

I think it might be instructive to consider the revenue that might be generated if the top 5% of income earners paid, say, 40% marginal income tax.  Beyond that, consider the vast amount of wealth being accrued tax-free (or at least tax-deferred).

Can you imagine if we raised taxes, made the rich pay their fair share, and then made the freeloaders actually contribute something? Anything at all. Like $300. We could be out of debt in a coupe of years.

I'm not sure you've done the freeloader math there, Lou.  Let's say we generously consider half of Americans "freeloaders".  That's what, 165 million people?  At $300 a pop, that's roughly $50B annual.  We're including children here, which is laughable, but I know you think they should be pulling their own weight (the little shits), so let's go with that.

Our budget deficit is $1.7 TRILLION each year.  Your idea would put a 3% dent in that number.  Maybe we need to be looking towards the wealthy and the corporations that pay a far lower annualized tax rate than I do, huh?

I believe flying the flag upside down is meant for a mayday situation.

    More or less.

The U.S. Flag Code states that the American flag is not to be flown upside down “except as a signal of dire distress in instance of extreme danger to life or property.”
