I hear ya man @Grimas. I’ve been working expat for four years straight and trying to save as much as I can. Lot of coworkers who’ve been rotational for a long time have multiple ex wives and so many toys at home they can’t quit the beast. It’s quite a confluence of factors. Needless to say, this can be a bit beyond just the good old Raptor and Boat crew.

I'm 3rd generation O&G and have been in it for 15 years. I don't mind risk, but that doesn't mean I can't wish for stability. I have positioned myself to be "boom/bust proof" to mitigate the risk and make sure that if I transition out of the industry that it won't come with a big pay cut. But to say that those wishing there wasn't risk shouldn't be in O&G is quite the broad brush, doctor.
How does one become risk proof then? Don’t be circumspect. Data scientist?

Yup. They don’t give out business class for free. No matter what.

Get on websites like thepointsguy, they always have reviews of various airlines cabin experiences. It should help you compare. I do a lot of international business class flying but it’s usually on KLM, delta, United, or Lufthansa, so I can’t help you out on this particular one.

I got in at 33 and that’s an 11% yield so I plan on just holding it for divvies.

Looks like the opposite of stock price movements, go figure. Instead of an escalator up and an elevator down, it’s the opposite.

Can you just burn all the rest of your shit too? How much are you hoarding lol

Mammoth
This is the correct answer for April skiing. I’ve had such good corn snow spring skiing in May at Mammoth that I was doing laps dropping the double black lines off the top while rocking athletic shorts and sunglasses.

Osprey 40 liter carry on sized backpack. I’ve flown around the world multiple times with mine. Takes a licking and keeps on ticking.

I’m going to start fly fishing (again) this year and wanted to get y’all’s opinion on some solid gear for mostly trout.
I did some backpacking back in the day and had a cheap bass pro backpacking rod but like to get something nicer.
Heres what I’m thinking so far:
-freshwater fishing
-6 wt rod?
- orvis clear water?
Any suggestions on local companies or am I heading in the right direction? Also, is YouTube a great place to learn or lessons etc?
My pick has been a Hardy shadow 5 wt for a high quality mid range rod. If you want to step your game up, I have a Douglas sky G that’s been quite nice as well.

some solid reviews up above - it’s tough to find fly rod reviews without an angle these days.
I went with a Galvan torque for my reel - frankly if you’re not going to get into some big fish it’s not going to matter much what your reel and drag are like, because they won’t pull on it.
that’s been my experience I’m sure there’s others who can tell me I’m wrong. But I don’t think you could go wrong with the equipment above.

Sounds like you got some leaky circuits. Which I’m sure you already figured out.

Solid base in the sierras. Just got some days in at kirkwood and mammoth.
kirkwood was an icy bitch but the snow is nice in mammoth. -
Kazakhstan which produces 43% of the worlds uranium is experiencing massive protests and riots right now. The government has resigned and seems to have at least temporarily lost control of the situation.

Thought about hitting Snow Summit yesterday. Decided to play golf instead of fighting the masses.
Tahoe Squawalpine over MLK. TBD Presidents. Mammoth week of St. Patrick's. Mammoth in April. Gonna be a stretch to get to 20. I figure 17 is where I end up.
I was looking at mammoth In April too. If the snow keeps up it will be a great year for spring skiing.

Let me ask a question here… have you guys ever been through a GOOD layoff exercise?

My iPhone view just switched from black/dark mode to white mode. I can’t figure out how to switch it back.

I used these guys when I renewed mine in 2019. Door to door was a week or 10 days, and I had a new passport with a new work visa for my job in it as well. -
That honestly sounds like a maintenance bitch

Mexican? I don’t know about that. Spanish brandy, I like Lepanto PX Solera Gran Reserva.

I too read something awful back in the day… maybe from 2002-2008. It was full of some weird and crazy people for sure.
Not just normal harmless weird and crazy internet people. Straight up nut jobs.
there was a lot of good stuff in there too though.
I remember that one forum, FYAD, was basically a non stop stream of consciousness thread shit.

Damn man. I spent five years hanging around the central coast, you sure managed to hit a lot of highlights in your trip. Well done.
