  1. The boy accompanied me for a rare hole overnighter. First two shots are after first 7 buckets Friday evening (prior to fite pit poking). Then worked a little more this morning. Home by noon.20230318_081304.thumb.jpg.1fd13febe196e3026674d07de2b9437e.jpg

it's now about 7'4" on the one side, maybe 5 ft from where I am sitting. Hoping to dig another few inches on the deep side and then knock out the shelf on the one side. Then I'll need the ladder to get out.

craziest and hardest rain i have ever driven through was just outside of Sanderson. obviously in the middle of nowhere. road was decent but went from dry to water standing on road in no time. crazy wind...had to pull off on the side of the road in the MIDDLE of nowhere. scared the hell out of me. 0/10 do not recommend.

Bad rains happen there. From our own ToT: https://m.facebook.com/TracesofTexas/posts/1770249726340482

Do a google search for: lobo texas germans

I like disappearing to Sanderson from time to time.

I have a spot spot for Samderson. Fun fact: you could go from to my house in Austin to Sanderson via Cap Metro to Amtrak. So European!

edit: working for El Paso Water Utility (they bought Dell City about 5 years ago)?

Guadalupe Mountains NP. Did the dune hike on the north side. Meh. Stayed in Carlsbad and really wanted to try and drive from Dell City clockwise around GMNP/Carlsbad and connect with 137, but wife didn't trust Google maps to not put us on a cow path. Fair. Here is me slowing for a tumbleweed outside of Dell City:

I’m sending this to your special lady friend. Please tell her it’s my go-to for manual labor.

I was born in Alton. I have hummed more than a few bars of this whilst digging.

Fantastic Spring Break with my kids in 2016.  Both were in elementary school at the time and summited Guadalupe Peak like champs.  Mom and Dad were ass whipped tired but kids are troopers.  Highly recommend it!

Knocked it out today! Woke up 5:30am and made it to the trailhead by 650am. Got the last spot at the close parking lot. It took us a full 8 hours but we did it. I think I'll be asleep by like 8pm. Lol

I'm missing a few, but wouldn't be horrible would it?  As far as name cache, it would be better than the B12?

Similar to what I was thinking. Dont truly kerge, just gather "the best of the rest." ACC 6 east division (Clemson, FSU, Miami, VT, UNC, UVA) + Pac 6 west (UW, Oregon, Utah, CU, AZ, ASU/Cal). Or even more meta: West (UW, OR, AZ, Cal) + Cental (KU, Tech, ISU, OSU) + East (UNC, UVA, FSU, Clemson)

  8. I got married in Big Bend NP (vows by the second bemches up in the Basin, by the hotel). Met up with a Brewster justice of the peace. He was happy to do it but he told us if someone dies, his official duties for a inquest took precedent. No worries, my buddy is gregarious and would humor us. Already had the minister of life care in his wallet, mail order from the back of Rolling Stone! It didn't have to be official, just something for the family and friends who made it out.

Two months before said buddy got bariatric surgery. While he's out in BBNP with us he begins to feel sick. Park people can't really do anything.  Ends up driving in the middle of the night all the way to Alpine. Boom, our backup plan out of the picture. Turns out he had scar tissue blocking his guts, and would have died if not for emergency surgery. Side effect. So our backup plan nearly took out our primary plan.

Got hitched. Crazy biker woman without phone catered fajitas. It was great. The end.

  9. Fwiw sildenafil studies show an all-cause mortality reduction. Something to think about re: blood pressure and vascular issues. Also helps give boners like a bois d'arc fence post.

  10. I'm in love with the idea of a conversion van when I early-ish retire. I'm just worried about the cost and depreciation. Buy it for $X, use the hell out of it. Sell for $Y. But would $X-Y have paid for the same amount of perfectly fine hotels, with maybe occasional tent camping out of a standard SUV or pickup with topper? I guess you can't really substitute hotels for true off grid BLM boondock camping. Seems like $50k gets you 200 to 250 nights of hotel.

@CleverNickname there you go. If you’re not interested, I might be.

Do it! Might be too much a project for me.  I might have been the poster mentioned below who was converting a go kart (Manco dingo maybe? Scorpion?) to electric. Never did get it working.  Sold it to an engineer who fiddled with it and got it going. My son complains about that. The one that got away... We have a 36v golf cart. It's fun - the kids drive it about 50x more than do - but it's not really for hooning.

    So anyone know about brands?

  12. Anyone handy and knowledgeable about such things? My son (10) is interested in cars and engineering and also tearing around the ranch. But I'm cheap. I want something that will last until he gets interested in girls and doesn't have time for his old man anymore. Then I can drove it.

What's the way to go? Buy a used yerf dog spiderbox? (But spare parts a probem?) Are modern coleman or gy6 the way to go? I don't have any dreams about putting a 400cc engine or whatever. Keeping it 150, max maybe a harbor freight predator 212. I'm not super handy, but fixing flats and adjusting cables and cleaning carbs might be a fun experience to share.

  13. First set in. Shored up all sides.

I need to get my jig saw and embiggen the hole a tad. My hole saw didn't want to cut all the way through. I thought I might need to come back and back fill, but it's tight. I may run a bead of expanding foam. Or not a little air exchange is probably good.

After completed the sides I dug another 8 or 10 buckets full. 36" crowbar for scale.

And here is my dirt pile. Spoils.

Ok, I need some background. What am I looking at?

Peterson did experimental rapid benzodiazepine detox in some Russian hospital, where apparently a penis pump was strapped to his junk. Idk exactly. My only knowledge of klonopin is from Jason Isbell lyrics.
