  1. Whether it was Franklin, or someone else that put them out, all of the trolling is funny and warranted. Along with the person who had crumbl delivered to the psu athletic admin building Monday night. Leaving yourself with zero options short of trying to lure away a guy that seemed destined to spend his whole career at BYU, only to get outbid by the Mormon church and a cookie tycoon deserves to be mocked.
  2. From what I’ve heard, which is probably bullshit, is that Stein interviewed but Kraft didn’t feel he was ready for the job. This would have been while he thought he had Sitake on the hook. Declined to offer Stein & kept Chesney waiting and lost him while trying to reel in Sitake. Sitake was the second coach offered after the first offer was turned down after his school extended him. Some think it was Elko, some Rhule.
  3. I don’t know why, but the “Welcome home” in so many announcement posts bothers me when the guy has no previous ties to the program or area. Feels like that phrase should be reserved for guys returning to their alma mater, home state/area, or a school that they at least had some sort of previous connection to. Sounds dumb to say welcome home to a guy that has no connection to a place and will leave the moment he has some success and someone offers him more money.
  4. If you’re an AD, it seems like one of the top priorities for your job would be to have a list of coaches you want to target ready to go at all times. Even more so if you feel your current guy’s seat is slightly warm. And then be ready to go asap. If you’re the one doing the firing, and picking your time, how are you not ready? When Saban retired he made his decision on the 8th, told his AD on the 9th, told the players on the 10th. That night Byrne had his top 2 targets of DeBoer and Norvell. Interviewed both of them on the 11th, offered DeBoer the job on the 12th. He was announced on the 14th. 48 hours from Saban’s announcement to having his guy. Granted that was Alabama, the offseason, and the same agent for Saban, DeBoer, and Norvell. And Saban had warned Byrne that it was coming in the next year or two. But 50+ days? So what, you thought you had your first (2nd, 3rd) guy but his school matched and he backed out? And then you let all of the G5 coaches and OCs get snapped up while you wait for the Tongan to receive a sign from the ghost of Joseph Smith if he should stay in Utah?
  5. Vrable looking like dave wannstedt out there with that mustache.
  6. Actually, sort of. Same agency. Kiffin, James Franklin, Kirby, DeBoer, Saban, Sark, Norvell, Chesney, Dabo, Lanning are all represented by Jimmy Sexton.
  7. Looked like me chunking a wedge out there.
  8. I guess the cookie business pays well.
  9. At this point it feels like any coach that wants a raise takes an interview for the Penn state job or has his agent link him to it.
  10. Despite being there for 12 years, through 5 or 6 DCs, he never got tapped to run the defense, seemingly by choice. Never even suggested as a candidate. After a couple of weeks as the interim coach he said that this reignited his fire to become a head coach. I don’t see how you can go from “not having the fire to be a head coach” to suddenly being seriously considered to be the head coach at a top job. Go be a head coach or DC somewhere else for a few years and see if you actually want to be a HC. And when Franklin’s replacement gets fired in 3-4 years, maybe come back.
  11. Especially if it’s Hartline. A little different if it’s a HC leaving his team. If they aren’t going to announce the hire before Wednesday there is no hurry to make an announcement before the transfer portal window. That they haven’t announced it yet, makes me wonder if they missed on their top choice(s). Seems like more than anything they have been tight lipped about it and everyone is just throwing shit out there hoping to be right. Drinkwitz, Rhule, Elmo, Dabol, Chesney, and a few others have all been “the favorite” to get the job. And we all saw how well trying to install the air raid at Wisconsin worked out.
  12. I guess as part of the terms of the deal to avoid the chaos around leaving on short notice. Seems like a significant error to miss out on the early signing period this week, and why everyone else is falling into place before the 3rd.
  13. Two camps seem to be that it’s either Chesney or Hartline and they are waiting until after the championship games to announce, or Kraft is fucking up and no one wants the job while Franklin steals all the recruits.
  14. The media collectively using kalshi odds as a legitimate source of who might be hired for a job has to be one of the dumbest parts of the current carousels. There have been so many guys listed as “favorites” for a job and a week later he never interviewed for the job and was never considered by either side.
  15. If BYU loses next week I think they are out of the conversation. If BYU wins I think the big 12 steals the SEC’s 5th spot.
