  1. Spoiler

I was cracking up from the get-go with all the "Are ye rowing?" "I didn't tink we were rowing." Over and over. But overall, even though it had a lot of funny moments, what a sad movie. I'm really glad they didn't have Padraic go after Colm's dog, at least.

Both of my grandfathers worked their entire careers at the Texas Company refinery.  They both lived on Howe Street in the Groves.  My parents were both PNG graduates.

I am so very grateful that my parents relocated to Austin before my first birthday!  (And stayed there!)

I could walk to Howe from my parents' house. I enjoyed growing up there, but I couldn't wait to leave and have no plans to move back.

Pretty sure there were more PNG people there than SOC. Great energy in the stadium, for sure. The last time they got this far was the season after I graduated, and I didn't go to that game. It was fun to be back in the atmosphere of a really good high school football matchup, even if the win wasn't in our favor. My 14-year-old, who's never experienced a game like this before, had a lot of fun.

  4. PNG came out of the gate looking like the championship-level team they've been all year, but couldn't adjust quickly enough to SOC's more flexible play calling and, frankly, more skilled offensive positions. SOC had a ton of offensive penalties called on them in the first half, and our run defense was great, but PNG couldn't match up to their pass playing - which, admittedly, is pretty excellent for a high school team. Sad to see my alma mater lose, but it was fun to catch up with old schoolmates and to know that some of those 5-star SOC players are coming to UT. Not a bad showing for Johnson, considering it's his first year.

    Greg won’t get shit.

Did Ethan fuck Cam’s wife? I missed a few minutes after they walked over to the hill.

Why won't Greg get shit? They didn't go into specifics but it sounded like he'd get something if she died.

They weren't clear on what happened with Ethan and Daphne.

  6. I've watched the whole thing. It's not Dark but I still enjoyed it.

    Spoiler

I think Daniel is some kind of failsafe in case of interference with the program, and isn't an actual human. Maybe he was her husband at some point, but he wasn't on the spaceship when she woke up in the last episode, and there was something about when he said "I'll always be here" that made me think he meant THERE, in the simulation. And maybe the pain she was trying to forget was losing both Daniel and Elliot.

  7. New Netflix show. I'm on episode 5 and it's intriguing - like Lost meets Event Horizon, but on a ship and set in the 1800s, if you couldn't tell from the name.

I started the series a week or two ago and am caught up. I am in the minority here in thinking Lucia is hotter than Mia. And this is probably a stupid thing to say, with all the Italian spoken, how is that language different than Spanish...it seems so similar. Also, it wouldn't surprise me if Ethan is on the spectrum.

I took Italian for my language credit in college, and one semester these two Mexican exchange students took the class. It took them no time at all to become fluent. All the interrogatives, for example, sound the same in Spanish and Italian; they're just spelled differently. Italian does plurals differently, too, but if you're fluent in one you can pick up the other really easily.

You’re falling for the honeypot as well. Think she’s improvising. They’re doing what they need to to survive. Gave no fucks about poisoning the piano player. remember the grandfather talking about women being just like men

Mia poisoned the piano player, not Lucia. Although she did use Lucia's stash to do it.

  10. That was Uncle Rico with Quentin in the picture Tanya picked up, right? Could there be an infidelity clause in the prenup that they're trying to get her to violate? I also assume that Jack taking Portia away for the day and then getting too drunk to drive home was part of Quentin's plan.

Pretty sure the nephew is also an “escort” who just gets to fuck chicks on the side as long as he has enough stamina for his “uncle.”

Yeah, and that would explain why his accent is so different from the "uncle".

I was a little disappointed in episode 1, but last night hooked me. And today I'm down the YouTube Mina rabbit hole thanks to this song.

I heard this on another TV show a while back, and the tune sounded incredibly familiar but I couldn't place it to save my life. Then I realized that it's a cover of a Gene McDaniels song I first heard while listening to oldies with my dad as a kid. I do think the Mina version is better, though.

  13. It's been a while since I watched season 1, but I remember thinking Tanya was a typical Jennifer Coolidge character - quirky in a funny way. This season though, Tanya seems way more crazy, like actually crazy in a psycho way. I don't find anything redeeming about her at all, and even with Greg probably cheating and generally acting like an asshole to her, it's hard to feel sorry for her. She's narcissistic and cruel, especially when she's interacting with Portia. I find her totally disgusting this season.
