  1. ANOTHER public input session scheduled for McKalla. This time, at the Central Library on the evening of July 19. It’s almost like someone is intentionally trying to wear out the supporters. At least this one won’t go until 4 a.m.

Why did they quote you as “noted public masturbator”?

You gotta be known for something. I will not back down in the face of antimasturbatorism.

  3. Brandywine developer now out in favor of MLS2ATX.

Finally read the ABJ story about the council vote, and I’m quoted in it, so that makes the whole “staying until almost 4 a.m.” thing worthwhile.

I was pretty pissed that in order to show support for 130, I had to also support 60, even in its altered form. What a crock of shit. Now there's no differentiation and the opposition, such as it is, can claim that support as well.

83% of testimony in favor, which mirrors the last poll PSV did. City folks I know seem to think we were good.

When did you register? I was there from 5 pm on, except for a couple hours in the bar at the W with a couple other MLS 2 supporters, an insurance agent buddy, city lobbyists, a local TV personality, and the pedicab driver guy who's running on a platform of putting a dome over the city to keep Californians out and also giving APD flame throwers. He testified against it, but that guy is crazy enough that I love him.

Looks like he tweeted this right after we left.

Just enough time for Eliteserien to swoop in and present a better bid for their first team outside of Norway. I personally can't wait for derby matches against Lillestrøm

Except that city staff can fully evaluate all bids. So the Epstein bid can be seen as the fugazi it really is.

  6. Yeah, that math is patently absurd. It’s almost like COTA knows that a real pro soccer team and an outdoor music venue in the middle of town would be a serious blow to COTA. Serious enough to AstroTurf some local opposition.

In the end, overwhelming positive response from the populace will carry the day.

This should prob go on another thread but she is almost unbeatable. Has the pseudo liberal NIMBYs, Central auston crowd, ex leg network, and Austin Neighborhood Assn.

Running against her would be a fools game.

She and Alter are the worst. And unbeatable in low turnout races like City Council.

  8. Thursday is the big day gang. Positive sounding comments from Flannigan earlier this week about the proposal. It’s time to ignore the folks who never want to get anything done, ever and make a thing happen.

    Fuck the USL.

So what about the other resolution asking for negotiations to begin? What kinda feeling do y'all have re: Flanigan, Kitchen, & Casar? Does either side have the votes they need to get their resolutions through? And of course, y'all know there's suddenly, conveniently, gonna be a competing official proposal for the site, right? After decades of non-use, suddenly someone "wants" it just when PSV wants it. Interesting coincidence.

I think it’s super interesting that Code NEXT  and MLS both have 4-4 voting blocs but they aren’t the same.

For both - Adler, Renteria, Garza

For Code NEXT/anti MLS - Troxclair

For MLS/anti Code NEXT - Tovo

For Code NEXT/? MLS - Flannigan, Casar

    ?? Both - Kitchen

Anti both - Alter, Pool, Houston

I think Casar is good (b/c PSV will deal with Workers Defense Fund which is his base) and ultimately Flannigan is pro-business. Which is good, because we don’t want to leave this in the hands of Surly’s favorite taxi cab advocate.

A mayor with more political will could twist some arms and make both of these deals happen.

  10. It comes down to Flannigan, Kitchen, Casar just like it did before today. Could be a long night on the 28th. I’m planning to sign up to speak in favor.

You should definitely be anti-CodeNEXT if you're just interested in selling out to an investor. Bonus points for being able to hide behind "community character" while doing it.

Nothing wrong with selling to an investor.

    Totally agree.

If your only motivation for taking a position on Code NEXT is to sell to an investor, who is going to maximize their own value, while hiding behind 'community character' to guard against increased density (which serves as competition for you and your investor making as much money as possible), then that's a problem. Or at the very least, it super hypocritical.

Hmm I live in D7. Is there a suggested message. Should I just call and say hi I wanted you know that this D7 resident is for the stadium at McKalla?

That’s pretty much it. If you want to add that it’s a net positive to the community as a whole, with possibilities way beyond soccer (like concerts),and would create a bunch of jobs, that would be even better.
