i did t22 right after they opened on burnet.  i thought it was excellent chicken, maybe a little better than lucy's. could not eat there all the time as i just don't agree with the marketing plan. elevating fried chicken. hmmm.   $32 for an 8-piece is just not sustainable.  it's better than popeye's, but not that much better.  e

false and dumb. the 8 pc  is $24, right there on the menu, and it comes with 3 sides. and it's way better than Popeyes. cmon man.

  2. Turntable on Airport picked a really terrible time to debut.....Maybe there's room for three pizza joints in the immediate half-mile radius but I'd bet Homeslice puts a major ass whipping on East Side Pies and Turntable.

I think there was a short-lived sushi place there between Dickie's and Bonhomie . . . not sure about that though.

Actually Bonhomie took over both spaces and knocked out the wall that separated Dickie's and Roll On Sushi. They did a good job with the space.

I was definitely a fan of Bonhomie when it first opened and went a few times in those first few months, but when they changed their hours I knew they were probably fighting an uphill battle. Too many restaurants imo make the mistake of not being open enough. The overhead on a Monday or Tuesday is not so prohibitive as to warrant being closed entirely. When ownership does that, it guarantees lost revenue stream at least one or two days a week and the opportunity cost of a potential repeat first-time customer. Likewise, when you actually do have staff in house during lunch hours working on prep and you aren't open for lunch, you are definitely losing money. It makes so little sense to me and whenever  places start curtailing their hours you can bet they are probably not doing that great on their P&Ls.

That said, I'm definitely surprised by the timing because they just installed a new sign built and designed by neon artist Evan Voyles. His work does not come cheap. Given that expenditure and the steady stream of positive press they've generated, I didn't think they'd be closing a month later. Maybe the money guys forced Philip's hand and he opted to cut his losses and focus on his next venture in downtown Austin. I'm sure that will be a financial success.

Bad Cop: THE ROCKETS COULDN’T BEAT THE WARRIORS IF STEPH SAT OUT THIS WHOLE SERIES.

    Good Cop: Come on.

Bad Cop: Sorry. It’s the truth.

Good Cop: You can’t just say, “Sorry. It’s the truth,” and think that’s good enough to make your statement actually a truth. That’s not how this works.

Bad Cop: It’s how arguing on the internet works. And besides, what does Steph Curry’s past injury matter anyway? He’s healthy now. All of Golden State’s main pieces are healthy and ready. And here’s a delicious thing that the equally delicious Zach Lowe pointed out in a recent article: The Warriors have played 27 playoff games since adding Kevin Durant to their roster. Do you know how many of those they’ve lost? Three of them. ONLY THREE TIMES IN 27 GAMES. But you think the Rockets are somehow going to beat them four times in, at most, seven games? Do you hear how dumb that sounds?

My CLE/HOU parlay bet wants to believe, but it's hard to disagree with Serrano here. If that $250 pays off, I'll feel really smart about it but more than likely I'm throwing money away. Fuck it. Great read btw.

  5. I lived there my freshman year in '89. My roommate and I had a room right off the basketball court and were constantly either entertained or awakened by frat bball drunkenness on any given night.

We didn't exactly fit in with all the fratboys-in-training that wrecked the place most weekends, but I enjoyed that year and will always remember the Woo. Those toilets were badass.

I'll keep an eye out for her as they are right around the corner from me and I really hope they figure out their operations as half the menu wasn't available and everything was slow to come out.

Are you in Windsor Park or University Hills? I live close by as well and am looking forward to having a drink and appetizers at their bar one night. The place looks great.

Do you even Asiana driver bro?

It’s an oxygen generator. Pulling on the mask starts the chemical reaction creating O2 and heat.

Getting sucked out isn’t a myth. I recall a BA pilot was sucked partially out of his flight deck at altitude after a mechanic reinstalled the window during maintenance with improper screws.

that was the craziest fuckin aviation story ever.

This and the yogurt shop case are probably the two biggest unsolved local cases.

I would add Roxanne Paltauf to that list as well. She lived with her mother and sisters in my neighborhood  and that family has suffered like the Cooke family since her disappearance in the summer of 2006. The Paltaufs actually have a pretty good idea of who killed her, her shitbag boyfriend at the time, but APD has never been able to pin a case on him. Frankly I'm surprised he hasn't been Dextered yet.

Tower Records didn't appear before 1989(ish). So it has to be after that.
