That does change things.  James and Valdez aren't making it for sure if there are only 2 spots left.

"He had a couple of walks and didn't cave and that's consistently what he's done," Astros manager AJ Hinch said. "If he's gotten into trouble, he has not conceded the inning. There's no panic in him. That pays dividends moving forward when we're starting to make decisions. Of course he's factoring in."

I think we're only going to carry 12 pitchers, like last year.  I think you can add McHugh as another lock.  Then it will be LMJ if healthy, and either Peacock or Harris for the last spot or both if LMJ can't go.  I see no chance that they would roster Valdez or James.

Actually, last year we only carried 11 pitchers in the 1st round and then 12 for the longer series.

Ahh I'm an idiot, I miscounted my own back-of-the-envelope list. Yes, I expect 13 position players and only 12 pitchers. So that squeezes my quick list even tighter. Only TWO spots left, to choose from those guys.  I don''t think McHugh is a lock considering how he's pitched lately. Man, some good arms are going to get left out.

James' control would make me nervous as shit in the playoffs.  I don't think he makes it this year.  Right now I would take Valdez, Peacock, McHugh and wait to see how LMJ looks.

I have the same concern but his fastball/changeup combination is pretty damn nasty. He could get big outs in the playoffs.

LMJ threw his 2nd simulated game yesterday.  He's going to throw one more at the end of the week.  If it goes well, they'll let him pitch next week.  Also Morton's wife is supposed to have a baby next week.

Assuming the standings don't change and we take 12 position players onto the playoff roster, which pitchers get left off? I think we can assume that the following are locks: Verlander, Cole, Keuchel, Morton, Osuna, Rondon, Sipp, Pressly, and Smith. That leaves four spots to choose from Valdez, James, Peacock, McHugh, Devo, Harris, and LMJ.  Who gets left off?

I keep seeing people trying to compare the A's review to last night.  A's review still pic that is being used is idiotic because you can't see Machete tagging him.  They aren't even in the same stratosphere.  The Altuve one is a clear non tag with player touching home plate. (plus if you actually see the correct angle Laureano actually is safe as well, in my eyes.)

You can see Machete tagging him, but you can't see how the tag and hand on the plate coincide in real time from the same angle. That's the point, they had no conclusive evidence to take the call from the ump on the field and they did so anyway. Completely inconsistent application of replay vs last night's review decision.

Also, the other reason for comparison is the obvious fact that it cost us that game as well. The organization has good reason to have beef with MLB Replay.
