Re: Stubbs (Hemsworth) - I think he may be a host now. He might be who Ford was building in the bunker where he had Bernard kill his side piece. I mean he’s Probably not a host, but I doubt that host being built in Season 1 is just not going to pop back up. And that would explain his absence from the finale last season. So right now my money is on it being Stubbs.

Wait. How could that be?  Hemsworth was in the same (later) timeline as Bernard/Side Piece in season one.  In fact, I believe Side Piece and Hemsworth shared scenes together.

Tomorrow is #6 for me.  The Tulsa show osujeff mentioned was my favorite ever because of the old stuff, but I'd be fine with the setlist from last night.

Yeah they played a TON of old stuff at that show... IIRC the even played "For all the Cows."

  3. Yeah I liked Bernie's columns in the PD most of the time, but I don't listen to his podcast or radio show or whatever he's doing now.

The one I really miss is Joe Strauss. That guy was awesome.  His weekly chat's on the PD website were gold.

As for the Cards... yeah the Reds are terri-bad and all, but at least we're doing what we should against them.  It feels like one of the big problems the past few years is that the Cards would play pretty well against good teams but then dick around and go like.500 against the really bad teams.  If you're gonna be good and make the playoffs, the first thing you have to do is step on the throat of the bad teams.  We at least appear to be doing that this year... let's hope we can hold our own against the good teams.

  4. Yeah outside of Kevin Costner's shitty non-English accent, I don't know why his Robin Hood movie gets so much shit.

Yeah Costner's accent sucks, but outside of that it's a good solid action adventure type movie from the early 90s.  You had excellent turns by Alan Rickman and Michael Wincott as the villains and good solid efforts from Mary Elizabeth Masteranonio, Christan Slater and Morgan Freeman, among others.

(Also yes there was a cheesy 90s Bryan Adams ballad attached, but outside of the closing credits it's not in the movie and so shouldn't count against it.)

And speaking of music, another plus for the movie is Michael Kamen's excellent score:

Try as you might, Miami, you’re never going to top the throwbacks you wore last season against NE.

YES.  The Dolphins, Broncos and Patriots all need to go back to what they wore in the 80s, stat.  Looks fantastic.

  6. Don't know if made your trip to Tulsa yet, but would definitely second BurnCo.

Andollini's is good, but don't know if I'd call it the best in town.   For NYC Style I like Umberto's.

I always recommend Bohemian Pizza to everyone.  It's a small place but EXCELLENT. (If you want to go for dinner I'd recommend a reservation because they fill up fast)

Also, if you like old-world/family style Italian, I highly recommend Mondo's in Brookside.

WAT.  I loved Generator.  Apparently is one of the Foos favorites to play live also.  You get right outta town with that nonsense.  Good day sir!

    Agreed. Generator is badass.

At the Foo's first BOK Center show in Tulsa (which was the first show of the Wasting Light tour, I believe) they played like 5 songs from There is Nothing Left to Lose (which happens to be my favorite Foo record).... Generator, Stacked Actors (which was fucking amazing), Breakout, Learn to Fly and.... hmmm... either Aurora or Ain't it the Life... don't recall which.

Some of these seem strange but looks like the contract duration is a pretty big driver.  Top 5 have all re-upped in the past two years.  OUsucks and Bama look to be on old contracts and I imagine both will likely shoot near the top when they re-up at some point this year.

What's the deal with knowing the private schools' contract value but not the contract duration? That doesn't make any sense.

I think Sturm put it best today. It's partly Dez' fault because he has never taken personal responsibility for his actions and is always looking to coast on ability and not work hard, but it's mostly at the feet of the one person who has been the constant through all of these personnel issues.

10 years ago you had the same situation play out the same way with TO. A year ago you had a bad ending happen with Romo where Romo wouldnt speak to Garrett and felt wronged on the way out. All this is because of this terrible dichotomy Jerry set up where the star players he feels close to don't have to answer to the coach and can come straight to him with any problems they have.

It's no wonder that Dez and Romo/TO before him felt they were on even level with the head coach and above the coordinators and other coaches. That causes major issues with the team dynamic and once the player is let go he feels personally slighted and betrayed. Then Jerry, as Dez said, comes along and blames the coach and others in the room for wanting the player gone. Jerry gets to be the good guy the entire way and whoever the coach is is blamed for betraying the player.

    This is spot on.

God I wish we (Pokes) hadn’t been so bit by the pitching injury bug. Were able to claw back into it on the bats but unable to shut down the methaneers. Oh well looks like you horns are in the drivers seat, after us that’s who I’d like to see take home some hardware.

Yep.  All things considered I can't believe we're sitting in 1st place at this point.  Holiday has done a hell of a job this year.  I don't expect it to stick or anything, but hopefully we can get enough quality wins in the league to make the tournament.

  11. I guess a trip to Cincinnati was just what the doctor ordered.  Now 9-7 and in 2nd place.  The Reds are horri-bad, but at least we beat their ass.  I feel like one of the biggest problems of the past several years is that we'd win series against good teams, but then dick around with and lose series to bad teams.

Bored to Death is on my list to go back and watch again, but (absent any info on how it's doing with ratings) I don't see Barry as having the same problem or really being that similar.  The jokes are mostly jokes and you can explain the premise of the show in a single sentence that conveys what it is.

Yeah I think Barry is probably a little bit more palatable to a larger audience than Bored to Death was, but it's still pretty unconventional.  It's really funny but then it can be pretty dark. Barry strangling the guy by the fence was a pretty brutal scene that might turn people off who are looking for a "ha ha" Bill Hader show.

I (and many of us here) seem to love it, but I wonder (hope) that a wider audience does as well so the show sticks around for a while.

  13. Yeah whomever said it earlier is dead on... the Broncos need to bring these back ASAP.  Pretty much all of the NFL uniforms that were re-designed in the mid/late 1990s are trash with their muted colors and stupid number/font design.  The Broncos, Patriots and Eagles are probably the worst offenders of teams that went from great uniforms to junk.
