  1. Actually I think the 70s Oakland Raiders is who would make the best mini-series. Think of all the fucking characters... peak Al Davis fucking Rozelle, John Madden, the fucking Snake, Art Shell, John Matuzac (sp?), Biltnekoff, etc. Yeah it sucked... obviously they knew they weren't making any more. Total bummer.
  2. Yeah man it's a goddamn shit show and I'm not sure what to expect any more. As you could imagine, the OSU hive mind is in complete and utter meltdown. The defense is a work in progress as expected with the new DC and it's got the typical problems of a first-year new system where it will look really good for a bit and then have some breakdowns/misses and then adjust and be OK and so on. Like on Saturday they looked completely lost in the first half but then basically managed to stuff South Alabama for most of the second half, but that didn't matter because of the primary problem, which is the complete and utter shit show that the offense is. And I think that is 100% directly related to the ridiculously stupid way that the QBs have been handled. This "equal" three-man rotation they have been doing has essentially not allowed ANY of the QBs to get into any kind of rhythm, and in fact just about every time one does get into a groove it's time to make way for the next guy because of the "schedule." They are doing the same thing at the RB position, where (for some reason) our best and most talented RB (Ollie Gordon) got 1 fucking carry in the first half on Saturday and 4 (!!!) for the game. This is a guy who averaged nearly 6 yards per carry in the first two games. He got four motherfucking carries on Saturday. Honestly, I've been a big Gundy defender over the years but this is the most confounding thing I've ever seen. Like if the QBs are this close to the point that you can't decide then FUCKING FLIP A COIN OR SOMETHING and just go with one of them! For fuck's sake. There's also the issue that, according to MULTIPLE sources who watched fall/spring practice we spent almost all of our time working in a new run block scheme (adding in a strong helping of gap- vs. they typical inside/outside zone-scheme) and then also running under center. Through three games we've done almost none of that. We've also barely run any play action, RPO and we rarely have any kind of pre-snap motion. It's absolutely bizarre. Like I've never been on the "we save stuff for conference play" train - I tend to think that's an excuse for bad play for the most part - but HOLY HELL... the offense that we are running is the most vanilla of vanilla things I've ever seen ... there are literally high school offenses that do more than we have done in the first 3 games. And I'm not even talking about execution. I'm talking about VERY BASIC things like formations, route concepts, etc. It's all SO FUCKING BASIC and I'm just completely confounded by what I'm seeing. But alas I'm an OSU fan so I'm used to confounding stomach-punch losses so on to the next one I guess.
  3. You could start a Star Wars YouTube channel with these scorching hot takes.
  4. Yep and I love that we can get a “gritty down in the mud” and morally gray Star Wars like what’s in Andor and then we can get something that dives deep into the nerdy Force lore like Ashoka or even something that is a nice combo of the two in Mando (for the most part at least).
  5. Yeah I a comment on Reddit noting that having young Ashoka in live action really drove home the fact how YOUNG she was when she was leading squads of Clones in the Clone Wars. Like in animation you may intellectually know she's a kid but because of the heightened reality of animation it doesn't really drive it home... but in live action it's like you realize DAMN she really was like a teenager leading campaigns in a WAR. Kind of shows you how she and others weren't wrong that the Jedi were kind of fucked in the head.
  6. Yeah I wasn't thinking they would go in-depth with them or anything. Just appearances... maybe 1 or 2 scenes with dialog and then mostly showing the basketball... basically like what they did with Dr. J.
  7. Actually I thought getting ~700k viewers on FS1 in the 9:30 CT window was a pretty solid result. FS1 typically has the lowest ratings across the board. Note that our game had more than double the viewers of the next closest game on FS1.
  8. Yeah seems like we'll definitely see some Bad Boy Pistons and almost certainly Jordan before the series is over.
  9. I don't think it was originally two seasons.... IIRC they didn't announce season 2 was a thing until about halfway through season 1. Anecdotally it seems like the show is a big hit so I'll be very surprised if they don't go ahead with season 3. The question will be how many more seasons/how much ground to cover? I know the show started with the HIV announcement, so it would make sense for that to be the bookend, but will that happen at the end of season 3? Season 4? They could go a couple of different ways... season 3 could just cover the '85 season... or maybe '85-87 to see the Showtime at its pinnacle and then season 4 could be the final season, showing the "decline" from '88-91 or so and the HIV announcement but could then end on a positive with some Dream Team stuff? That would be cool.
  10. It's kind of interesting that they are having the season culminate with the '84 Finals, given the outcome. But I'm also assuming that almost certainly means more seasons of the show, which I'm 100% in favor of.
  11. Yeah I was on a jury in a case where a step dad abused his 13-year old step-daughter back in 1987 (!) and then literally just left town. Long story short, the girl's younger brother (now a full grown man obviously) just happened to run across this guy in Wichita, KS and called back here to see if there was still an arrest warrant out for him... there was! They had collected a rape kit and everything back in '87 but through some kind of accident or something all of the physical evidence was lost. I remember the D.A. or judge or both (don't recall) at the trial basically explaining that real life isn't like CSI or whatever and that we should consider witness testimony "evidence" just the same as physical evidence. The wild thing was watching the video taped interview with the girl from back in '87 when she was 13 and then seeing her on the stand right in front of us when she was in her mid-30s. (This was several years ago) Oh and yeah the guy was guilty AF. IIRC he got like 25 years or something. And I think he was like in his 60s at the time so my man is spending the rest of his life in jail.
  12. Yeah I can't imagine Zeb not showing up. This is Filoni's show that is a direct sequel series to Rebels. Zeb is absolutely gonna show up at some point. I'll tell you who else I'd love to see - Agent Fucking Kallus. Having him and Zeb show up together at some point to fight Thrawn would be *chef's kiss*
  13. Hey congrats on the awesome win you guys. Happy for you all.
  14. Yeah once their young core got their feet under themselves last year they were a good team. They started 1-6 but were 8-2 in the last 10 games, just barely missing the playoffs. Should also note that 5 of their 8 losses were by 4 points or less. Even with Kelce out and Chiefs WRs having the dropsies, it's still impressive to go in and win in KC. They are a good team and will likely be in the playoffs this year barring a bunch of injuries.
  15. Filming on season 1 wrapped last October and they were well into post-production when he died in May; seems like not much time to really do anything about it after the fact. So yeah if his character survives season 1, it will be really interesting to see how they handle it. He's such an awesome character I'm really hoping the character doesn't survive so they don't have to do some weird shit (re-casting or face replacement or whatever). Would be cool to get a "young Baylen" story at some point... someone pointed out on Reddit how Henry Cavill would be awesome as a young Baylen.
  16. Episode 5 is directed by Filoni AND they are showing it in theaters? Gonna be fucking banger. We're obviously getting Anakin and, if I were a betting man, I'd say this is when Thrawn will be appearing for the first time.
  17. Not exactly, but what I inferred from his speechifying was that he thinks the whole system of Old Republic/Empire/New Republic/Jedi/Sith needs to be razed to the ground. He was probably hoping the Galactic Civil War provided that in some form of mutually assured destruction, but when the Rebel Alliance miraculously won and just set itself up just like the previous "Republic" regime, he felt like we were right back where we started and there needed to be a new war that would hopefully burn the whole thing down so we could start over with something new.... sort of a galactic chaos agent to provide a hard reset. And he thinks Thrawn is the man to help make that happen. Just my .02
  18. Well the "redemption" hasn't happened yet. I believe he was referring to the idea of her making a bad choice (giving the map back to Baylon instead of at least attempting to destroy it or run away) and then redeeming herself later in the show by coming to the point again where she has to make a tough choice but make the correct one. I don't think it's any coincidence that they showed the recording of Ezra in the "previously on Ashoka" montage when he said (paraphrasing) "Sometimes you have to make the tough choice" or "the choice others can't make" (or whatever it was...something along those lines). She was put in a tough spot to make the tough choice and she didn't come through. I'm willing to be she does later in the show. And yeah - I'd think from a writing and characterization standpoint it's a tough line to walk -- establishing the character for those who didn't watch the 4 seasons of Rebels vs. fans who did watch. Just from my perspective, I think the show is being written with the idea that you HAVE watched Rebels. I don't know how it couldn't be since it really is basically a live action season 5.
  19. I think people who think Sabine is acting "out of character" need to go back and watch the episode where Kanan is training her with the darksaber. She's petulant and pouty about needing to be trained. That's exactly how she's been acting, for the most part, when Ashoka is trying to train her. Sabine is from a royal family on Mandalore. She's been trained to fight from a young age and she also just has that Mandalorian thing of not liking being told what to do. The only person we've really seen her interact with in the Ashoka show (so far) is Ashoka and in student/learning mode. I think it fits exactly what we saw of her, in this regard, in Rebels.
  20. Is he "obviously evil?" I'm not getting that vibe at all. Yes he's one of the "antagonists" but it seems to me that they are going out of their way to show that he became disillusioned with the Jedi (just like Ashoka did) and his actions (in his mind) are for the "greater good", versus someone like Palpatine who is just craving power.
  21. She was definitely in the World Between Worlds there .... BUT.... it could also be a dream/hallucination since she has actually been there with Ezra.
  22. Not dead. She's in the "World between worlds." Nerd mode: engage: It's a plane of existence that exists between space/time. It was the original mode of faster-than-light travel in the SW universe before hyperspace travel was invented. It's accessible to some - but not all - force sensitive beings (both Jedi and Sith) from certain locations in the galaxy that are "inflection" or "nexus" points for the Force ... and typically there have been ancient temples built in those spots. Ezra was able to access it in Star Wars Rebels and used it to essentially rescue Ashoka when she was dueling with Vader. There's a lot of talk of it being "time travel" added to Star Wars but I don't think that's the intention. I think the idea is more akin to the "closed loop" time travel theory; e.g. Ezra didn't really "save" Ashoka or change anything by using the World between Worlds because that was always the thing that had happened. I'm probably not explaining it very well but that's the concept.
  23. Hell yes. So damn gorgeous and perfect.
