  1. Arceneaux from UH in the portal…. 🤔
  2. Yes, I was going to type that Creighton is a better job than A&M as basketball is their “football” there and they bring in a lot of money.
  3. That’s why he told A&M no?
  4. Maryland isn’t a pressure cooker, not in the year of our lord 2025. They don’t even have an AD the current leadership at Maryland gives 0 fucks about athletics. They make it well known they are a “public ivy” and want to really be associated with the ivy league schools. Buzz probably has less pressure at Maryland than he did at A&M and I’m only halfway joking there.
  5. I need that meme of the cat with the newspaper and glasses and under it says “should have been a college basketball player during the NIL Wild Wild West era”
  6. Wait—is that more than what McCasland makes?
  7. Once again, this was a situation in where the top 5-10 in the sport just were not going to leave. They have their programs rolling and at a high level already. Those coaches get whatever they want from their admin already. Other than just the name “Texas” there was nothing really to get Oats or Lloyd to leave. You could have *maybe* had Lloyd had Arizona crapped out in the 1st round, but they didn’t. Then combine that with the haul of a recruiting class he has coming in, there was no reason to leave as Arizona basketball gets whatever they want from UA alums/boosters already. Oats already has the commitment from Alabama admin that he was looking for and his happy (I think we could have gotten him 3 years ago, but we went with Terry.) Hurley was never an option. People who mention Jay Wright are showing they are stupid and don’t know anything about college basketball. Donovan wasn’t leaving the NBA to come to college with this generation of college athletics and NIL. Quin Snyder who hasn’t coached in this climate either since 2006 was going to come in a save the day and take Texas to multiple FFs? None of the above names were realistic, and people hyped themselves up into believing that if we didn’t land one of those names that means we aren’t serious about basketball. Jesus Christ. Fucking Todd Golden just won the NC. Did I want a sexier name than Sean Miller? Of course, but I’m happy with Miller because I’ve seen what he’s done. He won’t have the pressure he had at Arizona and he will have more money than he had at Arizona or Xavier. I’m also happy because he’s an actual coach that will have guidance and leadership from the #1 AD in the country, something else he doesn’t have to worry about. This could have been a way worse hire. Miller has support, money, and what appears to be rejuvenation. Let’s see what the fuck he can do before crying like fucking Aggies about everything that doesn’t go the exact way we want it. I don’t remember CDC saying the athletic department has to be ran the way 1 specific fan wants it to be ran.
  8. So the bitch authorizes a 90 day pause on some tariffs and the markets shoot up
  9. Doug Sirmons was in the game as one of the refs, and he’s the biggest “look at me” ref in D1 men’s right now. #1 by far. Yes, I’ve been reffing in games where the foul count is lopsided (for whatever reason) and to get the game back to reality, you don’t go looking for fouls but rather you look for what is illegal vs. legal. In my opinion, the 1st half was called pretty well because they were just letting them play; however, when you decide to just let them play, it will inevitably bring out frustrations by one or more players because they fully believe they are getting fouled and you’re not calling it. The longer this goes, the more the game escalates and you as the ref have to get ahold of the game because that’s your job. The best way to do that? Call more fouls, which then goes against what you allowed the 1st half. My issue with the Florida folks on this board (and to an extent the Texas people) is there’s never a “hey, the other team was called for a foul and yeah we get to shoot FTs, but that really wasn’t a foul. We got away with that” from those fans. Florida fans were bitching here when it was a quick 5-0 foul count in the 2nd half but when Houston got called for nearly 11 straight fouls, it was crickets. The above is also one of the reasons I retired early from officiating. One of my pet peeves with co-officials was the inability to admit you were wrong. Instead, too many refs tried to justify why they were correct. Absolutely hated that.
