I have a feeling Beard will successfully get the students back to the games just by going to a frat house or bar off campus, having a few beers, and boom--student section filled.
He has that vibe. (And the team will be good--don't forget that)

Getting back to the topic, I don't think "wokeness" is a problem. Dems won both senate seats in Georgia and Biden won by 7 million. That doesn't sound like a "woke' problem to me. If people want to say Latinx instead of Hispanic, who gives a shit. You think wokeness is a major problem or is the party with insurrectionists, radical right wing politicians in Congress, and who think a free and fair election was sToLeN fRoM tRuMp is the major problem.
Dems don't have a "wokeness problem." They have a radical Republican problem. Dems have always had a problem controlling a message and instead letting radical Republicans control the message instead. It doesn't help that Fox News is radicalizing people left and right as well.
I also find it funny that radical Republicans go out of their way to use the term "woke" all the time--cruz and cotton seem to use it the most. I just want to ask them what they think "woke" means and what specifically are they against? I also want to ask them why they use that word when no one uses that word anymore.

African American seemed to be the only option for about 20 years. Black has made a comeback.

Most Mexicans don’t mind being called Mexicans. It’s only awkward bolillos from the Metromess suburbs that feel the need to whisper Mexican like it’s some sort of naughty word.
Well the same can be said about African American and Black. And this is mostly with White people but in my experience they say African American a lot and when they don’t they correct themselves. My response is always “You can say Black. It’s not a bad word.”

I'm not sure about that. Latino started to be used in the late 40s, I think. And Hispanics is just derived from a 16th century Hispanicus and started to be used in the 70s. I doubt there is a derogatory background to their origin.
And tell your friend it's either Hispanic or puto. His choice.
I meant Latinx. My phone autocorrected it.

Being labeled by outsiders as something other than what one identifies as can be pretty fucking insulting. Then when it's explained as a criticism of the gender based language and machismo is used as an example of the gender bias it’s not only insulting to our language it’s insulting to our culture.
I have no issues with this discussion occurring within the community but when outside institutions jump on the wagon and pick a side it feels like we are being told what we are and how we should be by whitey.
I find this interesting because the term Latinx was started by Hispanics (LGBTQ Hispanics).
I was also told Hispanics was derogatory. My friend (Mexican from the valley) hates being called that.

I guess I don't understand the outsiders part since Latinx was invented by a Latino.

As a Latino, it’s offensive.
If true, I'd like to know why. Not because I want to argue it but rather my qualitative brain is just genuinely curious.

I will put on my Jesse Jackson '88 campaign button and fight you in an HEB parking lot
I would buy one of those buttons every year we went to the UIL Academic State Meet, and when I got back to Gainesville I would wear them to class the rest of the year.
Good times.

But seriously I trust Vic in these situations. She’s a great person but I absolutely did not trust Aston in these situations.

And Amy Wright ended up at OU.
I'm just gonna sit back and let Vic do whatever he is going to do this offseason.

Seems unlikely that Rueck would leave but Oregon State is lil sister to Oregon. Rueck has also had some success recruiting Texas so maybe he thinks he can build a better roster at Baylor.
I say it's still unlikely it happens though.
I don't know the little sister thing is applicable since OSU was built up before Oregon in women's basketball. Unless he's just not getting something he thinks he deserves like money or facilities, there's really no reason to leave your alma mater.
Sic'Em message board is now talking up the coach at Grand Canyon. They really like her, mostly because she's outwardly Christian. I don't know that her time in D2 (which was good) and what she did at a WAC school will automatically translate to the Big 12.

Isn’t he a OSU alum? Why go to Baylor when you e shown you can make FFs at a place like Oregon State?
Rueck is already home, which is what KM left for.

Did Scott really say this line, the “cotton to congress?”

Great coach, but just trash. So yes, she fits in at LSU, but she also fit in at Baylor.
Their version of Surly is blaming the AD and Prez for being "too woke" and "liberal ideas" as to why they wouldn't give in to her wants and needs. Most of them want both the Prez and AD to be fired for this. And they think they can sway Geno to go to Waco.
So yeah, she fits in with both trash fanbases.

I need professional help. I read that as "have a West Coast presence by playing in NYC based events" and thought, "We have the dumbest fucking coaches."
Yes, I agree with Coach Beard. He will accomplish the NYC thing next year by playing in late November in a 2-game tourney with Virginia, UCLA, and Northwestern. It will be played at Barclay's Arena the Monday and Tuesday before Thanksgiving and hopefully that same week, Durant's Brooklyn Nets will have a game there as well.
Would be great to have a one-off neutral site game with somebody in Southern Cal or the Bay Area. Hartzell would greenlight the funds for that in a heartbeat as our alumni out there are starving for more events and connectivity.
I know non-conf. games in hoops, with fellow power conference teams, have to be scheduled close to a year in advance. But if we could time something out West where it would coincide with a Longhorn NBA player on the Clippers, Lakers, Warriors, Trailblazers, etc. having a game the night before or the night after---would be such a boost to Beard's efforts to get our huge number of former 'Horns in the NBA more engaged and make the trip more fun for alumni to see two games. I dunno. I know UNC tried something like this awhile back.
Basketball schedules are made during the spring/summer and finalized when classes start in August/September.
