  1. I'm curious how involved Stone is. I could see going to him to do opposition research on a VP candidate. Find those skeletons, twist those facts, etc.. It would be interesting to see the reports on the other potential candidates to know what skeletons they have. If they brag about killing dogs as kids, what shit are they hiding. But I am not sure Stone is the guy who would be involved in day-to-day activities. Not only is he a criminal and creepy, he is also 71. But maybe he was in some email groups that got more information than he needed. It doesn't bother me that news agencies haven't published anything yet. The internet is big and the bad actors will find a place to post this shit. I'm cool with it being in September or October. I am curious if the Harris campaign received a copy and has a plan of attack once they are published. I don't think Stone's lifestyle will be a big issue. I don't think there will be much directly from the campaign. But, you know Stone is saying racist shit. You know he is shit talking about interest groups and public figures (Republican and Democrats) in ways that would be embarrassing. For the Podesta hack, there really wasn't much there that was interesting. The right wing media had to really twist and pull shit out of context. I have a vague recollection to a reference to Bill Richardson and Latino voting blocks that may have been indelicate. I think it got conflated with Hillary's State emails (which were never hacked as far as we know) and so it added to the cloud of confusion and caused additional damage. (And of course the Pizza-gaters found all sorts of pasta-related hidden codes.)
  2. Apparently it came from Roger Stone's personal email account. To be honest, I am not sure America is ready to see Roger's personal emails. But, that means Roger Stone is still plugged into the Republican Party enough to be part of the VP vetting process.
  3. Just keep talking old man.
  4. Can we get a "what creepy-fucking thing to say" emoji? Because we are definitely going to need a "what a creepy-weird fucking thing to say" emoji by the time November rolls around.
  5. He suggested ingesting bleach to cure COVID. On TV, he bragged about how he suggested that to doctors. He is really that fucking stupid.
  6. In Bradbury’s Something Wicked This Way Comes, they defeat evil by laughing at it. This campaign keeps reminding me of that book.
  7. This, despite the Republicans having a filibuster proof majority. Too many Omahan Republicans want to be relevant nationally. It may be last bastion of local political interests outweighing national party goals. But the redistricting after 2020 moved it a few points red. Still doable with a Biden 2020 vote, but more challenging.
  8. Paraphrasing her from years ago “we need to get away from the ‘soft on crime’ or ‘tough on crime’ mindsets. We need to be ‘smart on crime.” The Vox piece talks about how, being the daughter of a scientist, she had reams of data why she favored certain policies. But, it was still a political atmosphere where using the “top cop” mantle was advantageous, and she leaned into it. So there is some political rhetoric which hasn’t aged that well. But I am not hearing anything from the left that indicates anyone is actually that worried about it. It’s almost exclusively Republicans looking for divisions.
  9. I thought Chicanos specifically identified with their Native American background. They reject Latino and Hispanic labels because both terms are European based. iIRC, most Caribbean-Latino groups don’t have much native heritage because disease wiped out those populations.
  10. Vivek is about to get a nickname from Trump.
  11. You can tell he is really digging into the policies that matter to most Americans.
  12. It seems like Ivanka is sitting this one out. Hope Hicks testified against Trump. Does Trump have anyone he trusts? Anyone who doesn't have a penis, regardless of size? Neither Ivanka or Hope had any qualifications to be advising the President of the United States, but they were both saner than Trump.
  13. I think they hired Swam as a political analyst. Explains a lot.
  14. I'm 52. I got a yard sign. I thought he was a great speaker. I don't remember this rate of donations, registrations, volunteer sign-ups, etc.. I don't recall the crowds as being as animated. Granted, I was raising a kid and not following politics daily, so maybe that's the difference.
  15. I know people keep comparing the current environment to Obama 2008. Did Obama really have this much energy behind him? No knock on Barack; I know this is all part Kamala and part the terror of a second Trump presidency. But, I don't recall this level of excitement. Ever.
  16. It's not in the public domain. I think Celine needs to be dead for like 50 years before the copyright expires. (She only looks like she's been dead for a while.) But, to your point, assuming the rally wasn't charging fees, I don't think there is much an artist can do about controlling where it gets played.
  17. And, that is at least the second time they hit a Mexican restaurant in Arizona, taking pictures with the Latino staff. It's a great way to reframe the discussion on immigrants. It also doesn't hurt in Nevada and the importance on the hospitality sector.
  18. Will Politico publish them? I assume Hillary's [the DNC's] went to Wikileaks because most news agencies wouldn't publish them, unless someone else does.
  19. They have an interest in having a good relationship with the next President. Right now, that is increasingly looking like Harris.
  20. MAGA dies when enough Republicans decide it's dead. At some point, non-MAGA Republicans need to take over the party, despite losing MAGAts. If they lose badly enough, then the damage from keeping MAGA will prove to be more than the damage from rejecting MAGA. That is my hope, one that seemed impossible a month ago.
  21. Ok. So probably had the ritzy fundraiser scheduled first. Flight gets delay, you're way late to the fundraiser, you have a choice, and you chose a handful of rich people over an arena of commoners.
  22. Are they suggesting he diverted to Billings for a quick, high priced fundraiser, leaving 1000s of his poor supporters waiting for him for hours at a stadium? That is just so on-brand. I almost have to respect it. His fans deserve to be treated that way. ...Big Sky seems pretty far away from Billings, so not sure if that work.
  23. Yeah, but Trump is fucking Batman to these people. He is wealthy enough to live in a big mansion in the scary city, fighting crimes and immigrants to protect the few remaining good people of Gotham. He conquered the city. They think it makes him tough.
  24. Shit, somebody forgot the drum roll. It wouldn't have been really funny with a drumroll. That way people would have noticed it was a joke.
