    Very cool.

Were you part of the Grammys performance?

That was from The Dance session. The youngsters got to perform. Us old timers had to make due with the original recording/video & playing with them in concert in L.A..

Back on topic, she was way underrated as an artist. Like someone said unthread, she could convey the message of the song without vocal gymnastics

    Did you march DCI?

No, I never did the DCI thing, I was working pretty much full time to pay for school, so not a lot of spare time.

I really enjoy watching DCI & other corps competitions, most of those units are awesome. I can honestly say I probably wasn’t good enough back then.

  3. Prayers for you, your dad, and your family. After the initial gut-punch wears off, do all you can to remind him you love him… never miss a chance to tell him.

    May God bless you

    Yeah, sure you are.

They're representative of the Latino community the same way the lunatic whites at Trump rallies are representative of all white Americans.

Yeah I am ass-clown, and make all the inane generalizations you like, check the videos for a common denominator. Unless you grew up and lived in L.A. dealing with lunatic “fans”, learn before you speak

  5. L.A. fans for the most part, are trash. It’s not specific to one team or school, it’s the “demographic” to be politically correct (which my heritage makes me a member of, so stow the “that’s racist BS).  They can’t go to a game to watch and root for their team, they have to “represent esé”. I had coworkers who were middle-aged, seemingly normal guys go to a Los Doyers or Laker game and act like complete hood rats. Then went into the office the next day and joked about how they “ran that place”. Some people just don’t know how to act in public. Unfortunately, USC & UCLA get the t-shirt alumni flow-down, depending on who has the better season.

    There is that, yes.

I looked back at the news reports, and it appears that his drinking was spiraling out of control back at UW, with players and staff suspecting he was drunk at inappropriate times, e.g. practice..  Shortly after USC put him on a leave of absence, it appears that his family staged an intervention with a pro that set him up at rehab some place.  This from his lawsuit, https://documents.latimes.com/sarkisians-complaint-damages/.

So, yeah, it appears to me that he was a bit more than just a "problem drinker."

Google “Steve Sarkisian bar tab”, there are links to an LA Times articles on his exploits. Dude liked his Patron. Hopefully he has addressed those demons, how much that was a part of Seven Win Steve remains to be seen. Personally, I think he moved into the blue-blood head coaching ranks too fast. He may be an offensive savant, but C-level management is a different skill set. He should have made his bones at an FCS program, then move to the big time.

They have land they could repurpose right near the basketball pavilion. It COULD be done, but I doubt it ever happens.

Dealing with the Rose Bowl operators and the locals is a walk in the park compared to dealing with the Westwood/Brentwood/Bel Air crowd

But he was the head guy at both UW and USC.  Whether he deserved it or not is another question but he should be ready for our job no?

He was hired because we were dealing with the nzaa sanctions and no big name would want the gig.

And being a HC at a major program like Washington and the Raiders should prepare you to NOT show up to the biggest pre-season BMD rally drunk off your ass, let alone sue the school because you’re a screw-up

I've seen enough of Card to know that he's nothing special, probably below average.  I think X and Neyor being hurt does hamper us.  However, I do think we are still more talented than most of the Big 12.

If you're an offensive savant, you shouldn't need 5 stars across the board, like Bama, to make things work.

Exactly, you’re preaching to the choir

Feel the same. He was such a cunt he had to go.
I don’t feel the same about Sark I think he has potential and don’t think it’s over yet. It just hasn’t clicked for him what it means to be a head coach at an elite program. PK is a big red flag/issue he needs to deal with.

Which may be the problem, he keeps getting head coaching gigs at major programs without having developed his jobs at less high-profile stops. Going from a QB coach at USC to head coach with the Raiders?

His stop at Alabama should have taught him about assembling a staff, which he could have worked on at a smaller program.  Going straight to HC at Texas can end one of two ways

I had a business conversation last evening with a USC grad (he has a Masters from USC). He is a big football fan and we discussed Sark. He has been following Sark's career for a longer time than any of us. He feels a lot of people give Sark a pass on his poor performance as a head coach pre-Texas because of his alcoholism. He insists Sark wasn't a bad head coach because he drank. He drank because he is a bad head coach. I think he is likely correct.

The only reason sark got a pass for his coaching ability was because of his success as an OC and allegedly being a “quarterback whisperer”. His alcoholism was a convenient excuse, “he’s a great coach if he could just get sober”.  Being an alcoholic in recovery, I call bollocks. The drinking just amplifies the ineptitude. So the USC grad was correct in a way, it was a self-feeding circle, drink because he was a bad coach, then coach badly because of the drinking, repeat ad nauseam.

His rep as a partier preceded him from UW, “but he was an OC under Pete Carroll” (actually it was Norm Chow). He was Asst. HC until Freshwater got booted, and he failed upward from there.

We’ll see if sobriety will make a difference in how he deals with setbacks as a coach, but from what he’s shown so far, he’s Seven Win Steve… sorry

Cal shouldn't get a penny from UCLA, and this is coming from someone who hates UCLA.  They'd be a slam dunk for a Big 10 invite if they gave a shit about the only two sports that pay the bills instead of being actively hostile towards football and men's basketball.  They didn't do everything they could to maximize their own success and profit (maybe the Pac 12 wouldn't be dying if they and the other schools in this category put in a little more effort) so they can fuck off if they want to grift anyone else.  This saga is exactly why I don't want Cal tagging along to the Big 10.

That letter really outlines why staying in the Pac 12 is unfeasible for reasons beyond media deals.  Kliavkoff cited spending more on coaching salaries in the Big 10 as a reason why UCLA shouldn't go.  "Hey stay here and keep employing Chip Kelly for cheap instead of spending more on a better coach."  By that logic USC should have kept Clay Helton at 5M/yr over Lincoln Riley at 10M/yr.  It doesn't inspire much confidence that things will get better when one of his arguments in favor of the Pac 12 is you can get by with cheaper, shittier coaches than you would be forced to hire if you want to compete in the Big 10.

This is exactly right…nobody gives a tinker’s damn about Cal, especially Cal. They fought the rebuild of that craptastic stadium tooth and nail, and nobody shows up for the game. Forget the Bay-area TV market BS, they are not worth the effort to invite them to the B1G. As much as I hate ucla, they should stand firm and tel the Pac, the governor, and the board of regents to fuck right off. Do they make UC Davis and UC San Diego play in the Pac 12? It’s only fair, isn’t it?

Thank God we are leaving this useless conference

    • Hook 'Em 1
  13. Well shit, now the PAC10 refs are going to take this a challenge to keep their place at the top of the crappy officiating heap. I don’t know how much better B1G officials are, but thank God we’re getting away from those ass-clown zebras.

Yeah there is a definite stench of game fixing going on, at least the PAC refs are just stupid… these Big12 refs have some action going on somewhere

  14. Questionable officiating at a notre dame home game??? I’m shocked said no one ever. It’s been going on forever, you have to play the domers and the zebras
