Funny people saying USC is a slam dunk easy place to win when our current coach failed miserably.
    😑

You’re not seriously referring to ClayDoh as “coach”, are you? “Golly gee, all them boys are warriors…shucks we”re gonna go over the film and get some ice cream.”

It's why leaving was by far the best decision he could have made. He's not winning the SEC regularly the way he did the Big 12. He can do that at USC, but at this point USC would be thrilled to death to win the PAC once every 3 or 4 years. He gets lower expectations, an easier path to national championships, and a ceiling that is just as high as at OU. He also gets more money on top of that.

Have you MET our fans?? The standard is win the PAC every year

I think USC’s AD is just as inept as ours (weren’t they the ones that kept hiring former Trojans with no experience running a large organization as their AD?) and as a result they make bad coaching hires most of the time just like us.

But all things being equal (meaning both programs make a great hire), USC has a much easier path to the playoffs than OU in the SEC.

Different AD from the dingleberries beforehand. And yes, they were Trojans. Pat Haden is the knucklehead that got this ball rolling downhill. Lynn Swann is the genius who pushed the ball faster giving Helton a ginormous contract for no good reason.

Nice denial Kliff on the OU interest rumors:

Kingsbury wasn’t quite as forceful as Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin when issuing a denial of interest in a college job, instead generally declining to discuss the topic.

“I don’t get into those things,” Kingsbury said, via Darren Urban of the Cardinals’ website. “My sole focus the last couple of weeks has been the Chicago Bears.”

Kingsbury was later asked why he didn’t flatly say he has no interest in the job.

“We’re in-season, we’re 9-and-2, just not a topic I want to touch right now,” Kingsbury said.

Same guy who took the USC job, then bailed for the NFL before the ink was dry.  Fool me once…

What about Lancaster and Fontana, tho?  Total armpits IMO.

Great to have a coach back in place who knows how to properly rock a visor.  That’s what’s really important.

I am betting Riley doesn’t plan on visiting Lancaster or Fontucky any time soon. Unless he misses the sweet aroma of meth labs in the morning

Someone finally put the dots in L.A.

    LA = Louisiana

    L.A. = Los Angeles

    ------

Have lived in SoCal three times, about 20% of my life.

Been in Round Rock for the last 15 years.

I'm generally much happier here than I ever was in SoCal.

Though I do miss the mountains and the ability to ride a motorcycle on a different twisty canyon road every day for a year.

And it's kind of cool being able to snow ski in the morning, have lunch on the beach and then go water skiing in the afternoon.

Well, that's theoretically what should be able to happen but traffic usually sucks too much.

Used to take me 70 minutes to drive 13 miles home after work, or about half that if I was splitting lanes.

If you're blue collar then there is no better place to be than right here in Central Texas.

Being born and raised in Southern California, there is/was a lot to enjoy there. Being old, it’s not the same place I grew up.

Growing up an OC surf-rat, I do miss sliding some waves in the morning, then heading to school. Now? Too many kooks, no parking, traffic sucks, etc..

We bailed out of SoCal to Arizona 5 years ago. Since I don’t have the FU money, we got priced out of the market…$600K for a meh house in mediocre areas. And without going CR, politics had a hand in the move also.  Our living expenses decreased 60% immediately. Since we own our own business, finding a gig wasn’t a problem.

Traffic is just fucking insane. I lived 15 miles from work, and did a 50 minute (each way) commute. I could ride my bicycle and get home the same time. Gridlock at 10PM on a weekend? Oh yeah.

Of course, LR won’t have those issues with what he will get paid.

He was successful at USC when Pete was the "it" HC, and successful at Bama when Saban is king. The rest of his resume is fairly mediocre. He failed in the NFL at Atlanta as an OC, his time at udub wasnt great, and USC.....well you know about that.

When Pete was HC, the OC was Norm Chow, who could scheme the crap out of an offense in his prime, after Chow left, Freshwater was the OC.  Sark became OC when Freshwater went to the Raiduhs, 2007 or so

Give him credit, he schemes the hell out of teams in prep. But his teams stop scoring once other teams adjust or whatever the case may be. It was generally like that at Bama too. His teams put up a ton of points early and usually hang on at the end. Better than the always coming from behind stuff we dealt with before, but still underwhelming.

True, but from the little sample size at SC, it was usually a big pass play or long run, then a defensive turnover leading to a short field and a TD… not so much a coherent scheme. His scheme was: bubble screen, deep toss, off-tackle run.

I’m at the point now where I actually want Sark to get fired in a boozed fueled blaze of glory. Sure our admin will take some heat but I bet we have contract language to protect us from buying him out and everyone will understand we had no choice.

Be careful what you ask for…he was fired at USC for that and wound up suing the school for wrongful termination, because protected class. I don’t remember the outcome (settlement or what), but yeah he’s a piece of crap

i think Sark's ability to scheme up an offense is pretty apparent. The issue happens after you burn through that and players have to play.

That was his issue during his short time at USC (without relying on Lane for help)… they’d hang 30+ at halftime just by out-tenting teams, but they would not put another 30 on the board in the second half. Pete Carroll’s teams were known for second-half adjustments (PC on defense, Chow on offense), Satk not so much

  11. Until someone decides to be the mean adult and shit-can this moron, USC is going to remain a .500 team (maybe) for the foreseeable future. This “coach” is a con man who has ZERO business being head coach at a high school, let alone a major program. His main talent is ass-kissing the President and doing his “golly-gee” act. Do the players like him? Sure, didn’t you love the sub teacher in high school who played movies?

Quite honestly, I stopped giving a shit (and money) 2 years ago. If the school doesn’t care about the product on the field, why should I?

He was his drunkest at USC.  How did that work out?

And he sued the school for wrongful termination for firing his drunk ass after showing up lit for a huge donor event…should tell you a lot about his character
