so was Anwar Richardson was right to report that, or did his reporting steer this to happen?

The old chicken and the egg debate.

Depends on which 9.95er you’re dumb enough to give money to I suppose.

I'm in this line of thinking for the moment.   I fucking hope Sark gave Moore the boot as the team needs to be sent a clear message.  Sometimes 'quiet' can come off as soft and if that's the case, he better take quick fucking action and start churning that roster now.  Maybe that motivates the guys with any promise to get their fucking shit together.

Quiet? There are videos out in the ether of Sark being mic'd up when he was at USC...he's far from quiet at practice, and was getting after the refs during the clones game. I'm not worried about that part, I'm more worried about what kind of soft culture the team is immersed in, and not sure Sark is the guy to change that.

You'll have to forgive me if I slightly discount his years screaming at players <checks notes> when he was a raging alcoholic at USC.  I couldn't care less about how he treats the refs in discussing this dynamic.  Regardless, we have the same concerns on the latter part (whether Sark is quiet or a crazed lunatic behind closed doors at practice).  I'm rooting for him.  Time will tell.

You thinking this will happen after this season? Sark looked at Coleman and kept his ass already, based on jack shit proof of capability.

He's not firing anyone. This is going to be a "blame the players" year. Next year he will cut some coaches and the year after that Texas is looking for a new HC and the process starts all fucking over again.

    That's Longhorn football.

Doesn't have to fire him when his contract expires this year.*  That contract wasn't done by coincidence.  If we can get Samples back, or otherwise upgrade, it's an obvious move.

*Well fuck.  I think it actually expires in 2022.

Just because you don't see people becoming unhinged on the sidelines doesn't mean he isn't lighting them up during the week or in meetings. He's basically been calling players out in press conferences for the past few weeks. Guys are either weak minded or they have things other than football that they care more about.

They really need to hit on strong mental evals in their recruiting. The culture has been a problem for a long time, and they've got to figure out a way to instill a better one and maintain it. Sam knew it was an issue, but even he wasn't able to get those other guys to follow his lead en masse.

Herman came in and tried to instill a tough culture, but he was maybe too heavy handed in doing so, and he recruited a lot of guys who didn't take well to that style of coaching. He lost the team as a result.

Charlie did something similar initially, but he couldn't find a QB and he was an exceptionally shitty coach.

Sark is a "nicer" guy, but you can tell he is a straight shooter and he's got high expectations. Maybe if he had more bonafides, the kids would take to the coaching better, but I don't think so. The roster churn and potential culture shift will determine his ability to win here.

It’s not just Texas entering SEC play that has them dropping bags left and right. They’ve also got to make sure they get ROI on Jumbo Baggins’ contract/extension.  They’ve been doing it out in the open since he landed there, and nobody cares as long as he starts winning

Fair point. It’s been going on before the announcement. Just feels like it’s in hyper mode now.

Are they really so far ahead of us on infrastructure that they can take one of our top leans, who according to you we were being very competitive with, and in a matter of weeks go from no interest to closing him down? All while bagging up other 5 star auctions too?

lol.  I mean, I know you've been following recruiting for the past handful of years and this exact scenario has played out multiple times.  Of course they can do it again if they back up the truck.  They will continue to do it  until our boosters finally get pissed off and this shit gets back to the old SWC days.

Make no mistake, our boosters aren't going to flex until they are embarrassed.  They should be now, but apparently they aren't.  Maybe it takes getting our ass kicked by aggy on the field.  Maybe the Stewart recruitment wakes them the fuck up.  Who knows.  But until that happens, we'll continue to lose guys every year where aggy 'comes out of the blue and locks them down'.

We are going to the SEC and they are in full on buy mode to make sure they have a big head start.  Surprisingly they haven't fucked it up yet.  Kudos to them for now I suppose.

  7. I just spoke with Super K, yes he is still alive. Here is what we have been told:
Sources told K that the argument, while heated, was the two sides airing their frustrations. We have been told it was not anything hostile and do no believe Moore’s future with the team to be in doubt.
Following the argument, Moore got on the bus with everyone else on the team and returned to the facility.
Again, we are being told Moore’s future at Texas is not in question at the moment and it is expected that he is going to remain a member of the team moving forward.

    Devon Campbell

      Hide contents

Five-star Arlington (Texas) Bowie IOL Devon Campbell has scheduled official visits to Texas and LSU.

The 6-foot-3, 310-pound IOL prospect with an 81-inch wingspan will take official visits to Texas on November 13 and LSU on November 27.

The Longhorns were thought to be in line to receive the final official visit for the No. 19 ranked prospect in the country, but that won’t be the case.

Instead, the Tigers will receive the final official visit to end the month of November. They will do so without a permanent head coach.

Campbell has made a trio of official visits thus far. USC was the first to host the DFW mauler on June 4. Oklahoma received an official visit on June 18.

Campbell has also made a number of unofficial visits. The Longhorns hosted Campbell on a pair of unofficial visits over the summer. Oklahoma and USC have hosted Campbell this season.

One key note is that Campbell has decided not to make a second official visit to USC. With the firing of Clay Helton, the NCAA would allow Campbell to do so if he desired.

Campbell is expected to announce his decision on December 15, the first day of the early signing period.

Campbell is the No. 1 ranked IOL prospect in the 2022 class. He’s the No. 5 ranked prospect in the Lone Star State’s loaded 2022 cycle.

We've seen it time and time again, and as recently as watching Tom Herman play Kai Money at WR over much more talented fucking players. Mack Brown did it with his talented Freshman for different pussified reasons with OU. We saw it TWICE under the same head coach, both Mehringer and Coleman under Tom Herman.

Fucking nightmare flashbacks.  And yet, here we are again with the focus more on the defensive side.  How long do you think it would have taken Herman to start Worthy?  Probably never would have found out because Worthy would have hit the portal before we had the chance to do so. If our defensive coaches don't get their shit together, we're going to risk losing the actual athletes we do have that are currently riding the pine or playing second string.  Yay Texas.

His nickname is Seven Win Steve for a reason. The guy has 6 years of being a P5 HC at very good programs and he’s shown everyone he’s mediocre at best and 8 wins is his ceiling.

Stop trying to put Charlie Strong levels of spin on this and just accept the University of fucking Texas thought Seven Win Steve was the best they could do.

Not saying you’re wrong, but shit. You know who had 43 wins in their first 6 seasons as a HC?  Saban. And he wasn’t a raging alcoholic at the time.

It’s not Charlie Strong levels of spin here to give some time before jumping to a “Sark sucks and will always suck” conclusion.  Same as using my above ‘stat’ to say he will be as good as Saban.

let’s see what the guy does in the portal and his staff during the off-season.

They don't care because they are being paid enough not to.   Game wouldn't even be close right now, which is fucking infuriating.

I’m this scenario our inept influential rich alumni might actually band together and do something.  If that’s what it takes, so be it.

    What’s the difference?

Seems to me the difference is the partial quote where you leave off the OU QB switch.  You know, the QB that no one has film on in college that we likely didn't prep for in large detail.  Looks like we made adjustments, but our D players didn't play sound gap assignment for almost the entire second half.  Then we refused to tackle.  Hard to scheme for our players throwing out fundamentals.

As an experiment, a couple of times I have handed out a "practice test" for students to work on. I'd tell them it was similar to what they'd see on the real test. I'd go over any questions in class.

It was similar, alright, like 100% similar. It was the actual test. So on test day they'd get the same one. Know what happened?

    You know exactly what happened.

    Same motherfuckers made A's...

    Same motherfuckers flunked.

My sociology professor (Rick Roderick) at Texas did this.  He also had a rule that during the test, if anyone asked you for the answer, you HAD to give it to them.  If you didn't, he would automatically fail you.  Guess what?  Same results.  It was a "gateway" class that I somehow got enrolled in.  A lot of ball players and kids from small towns across Texas.  Sat behind Leonard Davis.  Couldn't see shit.
