Not really in the original spirit of the thread, but I think they need to do some serious changes to penalties and reviews. They slow everything down and take the excitement out of the game.

    - Intentional grounding needs to be gone. I like the rule, but it's by far the slowest one to implement. I don't know if I've ever seen a grounding call that's called instantly. It's ALWAYS a fucking conference and then they decide to call it. If they can't call it quickly, just get rid of it.

    - Figure out holding or change the rule somehow. There's egregious shit at every level that isn't getting called. Why the hell not? If it's too hard to judge, then change the rule on what's holding until it's plain to see.

    - False starts need to change. It's called now because someone twitches. There's no advantage, it's not a foul worth five yards, and it slows things down. If they move to get a head start, then yeah, call it. If they twitch but then reset, who cares?

    - I feel like the NFL review system is great. College there are way too many stoppages and reviews take to long.

    - Scrap/simplify a lot of the rules regarding things like contact (behind the line, one yard, five yards) and ineligible downfield.

The game seems like it's getting lawyered to death.

Good post.  Twitching isn’t called because of an offensive advantage, rather twitching can cause the defensive lineman to move offsides.

So far, so good.  Anybody who has had the vaccine and side-effects: How long did it take for those to appear?

I’ve had both shots about three years ago. My arm was a little sore both times but not what I would  call really painful.  That was it.  Nothing symptomatic of other things like flu at all.  Played golf three days in a row after vaccine.

I'm not even going to think about it until the writing is on the wall for Terry. Mostly I've just wanted to stay away from making a lot of negative posts. I'm a big volleyball fan these days.

I'm very curious as to what collegiate athletics looks like in 2 years. I'm not concerned about us. But I am curious what the landscape is going to look like. We'll be at the top of the pyramid in terms of bringing resources to bear, but I feel like there are going to be more and more pressures on the cost of doing business that may start pricing other programs out of the market.

And look, for the people who prefer to hope for the best, the season is hardly over. This game is a snapshot. Not a requiem. It dovetails with preconceived notions I have about Terry that goes back to his days as Barnes' assistant, but maybe I end up wrong about the guy after all.

I just think this is a clear example of someone getting Peter Principled.

Still early but it’s looking more and more just like Tech’s hire of assistant Adams following Beard.

I’d say we are starting to see way more talent infusion into the college ranks across all the teams because the sport is exploding at the junior level, which means we’ll start seeing more programs at the upper echelon that could win it all in any given year.

And…more of the taller female athletes are choosing volleyball over basketball than prior years.

I honestly still think this was a pretty good coaching job by Elliott dependent on how the season finishes.

A Big 12 title and top 6ish team with a FR setter, no real OH2, and Barnes not being near the type replacement we thought were getting defensively. This is a pretty flawed team but right there in the mix of things.

Now, Elliott needs to do a better job in the portal this offseason and he is to blame for the flawed roster. I do think Parra was bad luck though based on playing time the last 2 years. Not much you can do about that when you have a national title roster.

Parra would be a solid part of this team if she was here, but she is not the physical, athletic OH2 we need now.

Chris Smith. 4th leading tackler for Georgia in 2022. Ran a fucking 4.62 40 at the combine. 2 time national championship Georgia. 4.62.

Jordan Battle, DeMarco Hellams were 4.555, 4.57 at the combine. Kyle Hamilton was 4.59, 4.32 shuttle. But compare Hamilton to Lewis Cine and his 4.37 40. Looks like one is starting and one has 0 tackles. Ed Reed, 4.57.

Jerrin had a 4.61 verified out of high school. Maybe he’s slower now. Maybe not. His shuttle time was 4.20. If you’ve got something verifiable, I’d be interested to see it. I just saw him with a reported 4.5 but maybe that’s trash.

The two fastest safeties at the combine last year were 7th and 5th round picks. I don’t even see one of them on the depth chart right now. Maybe we should replicate Illinois. They had two of the top 4 times. Iowa, Notre Dame, Penn State, Florida x 2 all had dudes invited to the combine at 4.62 or slower. For the past two years, the fastest safeties come from all over. And not from top 10 or even top 25 programs. There are many a fast guy that fail at football

Schooler, Tyler Owens, Crawford. All fast as shit. People don’t like any of them. All on campus in the past 3 years.

We give up passing yards for a variety of reasons. Just like everyone else. Crawford hasn’t given up insane number of TDs in years past. He hasn’t even played substantial snaps as S until this year. I have no idea how fast Taafe is. He’s not Crawford fast. My guess is you don’t know exactly either.

Vs KSU. Watts got beat at least twice. Brooks may have screwed up/perhaps Williams for a TD. Blackwell was the party on the 4th and 6 conversion. 40 yards on screens. Probably 75 passing yards due to poor pash rush/lost contain.

Smith, Branch, Hamilton, Reed. All too slow to play for us. No idea how those slow ass guys got on the field for Bama and Georgia more than 4 years into their current regimes.

Yeah, we want Michael Huff (actually wasn’t very good as an underclassman) and Earl Thomas. But since we’ve had a small number of those over the years, I’m not expecting them here every year. I guess since Harrell threw for 475 and Leinart 365 in 2005 and 2008 it probably had everything to do with their other teammates.

Not sure if I agree or disagree with all your points, but a great timely post.

Maalik had a rough patch after an amazing patch.  The off the back foot floater is something he has got to correct.  That's on him.

I like many of you wish we had more QB runs out of him.  But I also understand the desire to not be down to only one QB and no backups.  If Maalik goes down, then it's Arch and then Savion Red?  I also understand how teams get overconfident when it comes easy, and the intensity wanes a bit, and then all of a sudden a wipeout is a dogfight.  I think most teams know we are not going to run him unless Ewers is a real possibility to come in.  So it takes a dimension away, one that I think could be very important in making those elusive first downs on sustained drives.  Right now we either strike like lightning, or fizzle on offense.

It seems to me that they have tried to get him to take a little bit of heat off the ball. Anyone else have that assessment?

Anyhow the kid has been hot and cold.  It will be interesting to see how he does this weekend.  And for those lighting him up?  Ewers wasn't exactly a world beater last year as you recall.  Each game is more experience, and if he can just not toss that fucking floater...

We have the #1 rated QB recruit in the damn nation. Shit!

We drop at least one spot...

Forget all this take the points. That's usually my call, but one of those resulted in a TD. Best case scenario for TTP is +9, -7. And if we had a really good play caller, we should have converted on one of those other 4th and 3s, making it +14 for going for it. We got the horses, we just need a different QB and a better play caller.

But we'll drop a notch in the rankings.

And... WTF is wrong with Ewers, anyhow? Is he gonna be back next week? What are the docs saying?

we beat a  25 ranked team and you think we will drop
