Starting a guy who has never pitched in a college game before at this point in the season is laughable, but I guess there's no reason not to based on what we've seen from the others.  Anyone in the general student body who can pitch?  One of the backup QBs?

    Holy shit. We trailed 15-1?!?

and they left 15 on base?!?!

i’m not looking at the box score any further…

(but am now perversely curious how man walks we gave up seeing they only had 11 hits and we *only* had 2 errors)

Yeah dude, this was uniquely bad

You can hear it on the field mic on the radio broadcast.

There were like, dozens of us left, so it’s literally the guy with the microphone: mystery solved.

How can someone whistle non-stop for 2+ hours. Is it maybe a mentally-handicapped person?

No one was whistling non-stop. I was there, just left only because of babysitter constraints. Texas is winning this shit fest like 21-20. But I assure you, for long stretches, the only noise was sarcastic

it seems like we need US private DOD contractors to sell designs to European partners (or whatever it takes) to accelerate European production. Is that possible and happening to any extent given ITAR? Would it require a literal act of congress to allow? Is the EU sharing designs from country to country to optimize production?

major layoffs coming, both open and stealth. somewhere between 10 and 20% (14-28k folks globally?) RIF

firing 10+% of your workforce is a great indicator for growth - right?

    +

the CEO of a 140k employee company now saying he must approve ALL NEW HIRES

we've all worked at companies where you have seen a version of this. Elon sending it to all employees is just cherry on top lol

and 100% of the time it's bad.

going on a full hiring freeze to the level your micromanager CEO has to individually approve hires is a great indicator for growth, right?

cutting shift time on the Cybertruck production line by 12.5% 5 months in to delivery and with 3 days notice is totally normal, right?

    https://www.businessinsider.com/tesla-tells-cybertruck-employees-shifts-shorter-austin-gigafactory-2024-4

all totally normal things for a company with "unlimited growth potential"

100% self induced. If he would’ve just continued to keep his political opinions to himself and focus on his companies, this wouldn’t be happening.

Kinda common place these days with this particular age group. Just paying attention. This age group

of people have likely been given the most therapy of any generation before them.

They are the most “maligned” among us. Yet they are so fucking unhappy. I have a sad answer for them. It never gets any better. Sack the fuck up.

If the best they can do off their  meds is grab a knife and go stab a bunch of people—they need to be force fed meds for the rest of their lives.

Against their will. If that is all they can do then you have two choices: institutionalized or dead. Imost people can’t control themselves any better than that. People just don’t want to hear the truth which is: they can control themselves to a degree they’d rather not want to.

Generation blaming is dumb. There’s a lot of sadness all over the world and people are struggling from every age group. Social isolation and cost of living and so many other stressors. The modern internet seems really good at pushing people over the edge

One common point coming out is the Officer who shot him is a Hero. Um, she did her job, confronted a maniac and took care of it when he turned on her. Is that her job?

I think people generally just try to find the positives in horrible situations. That and our bar for police officers is pretty fuckin low

Except the Ukraine sea drone success is recent. Ukraine has been exporting grain from Odessa long before they fucked up the Russian fleet.

People continue to insist that Thanos will snap his fingers and all the Russian soldiers will die. That's not reality. Russia won't quit until Putin is gone, and there is zero sign he is about to be killed. In fact, there is good evidence of broad public support for the war inside Russia.

You’re oversimplifying the battle of the Black Sea and the conditions that could lead to Russia’s defeat. Why are you here making these seemingly intentionally obtuse arguments? Did you get booed out of the CR or something?

Ukraine is fucking up the Russian fleet in the Black Sea. But armies win land wars, so it's awesome and makes me smile to see those guys die, but it doesn't matter.

Except it does matter. A lot. An Odesa invasion would’ve been much easier for Russia with that fleet that included several landing ships. Much of Ukraine’s economy is agricultural exports through the Black Sea. Those went to zero when Russia dominated the sea. Now they’re back to like 60% of pre-war levels if I recall. To sustain this “stalemate” until Russia breaks requires a mostly functional Ukrainian economy.
