Who carries a gun to deliver food?

67% of American adults are willing to admit to pollsters that they either own a gun or would be willing to own a gun. I’d wager at least that percentage of delivery drivers carry, either on their person, or at least in their car. It’s naive to assume otherwise and it’s naive to assume every situation a delivery driver might get sent into is safe. Dogs are probably the biggest threat to a delivery driver because the worst, dumbest Americans are the ones that own uncontrolled pitbulls.

It's a doggy dog world out there, and delivery drivers are wearing milk bone underwear.

I will say I've done in-home services among various jobs, going in to 5 to 8 houses a day.

There are definitely clueless owners who laugh and say "He won't bite you" as they strain to hold it and the dog is foaming at the mouth and barking at me from 8 feet away. I'd chuckle and ask them to put them away regardless.

But there's no way this guy was really in trouble taking 10 seconds to drop some food on a porch.

    Fixed

There’s a substantial portion of Ukraine that has not be leveled… They can just skip past those territories if they took everything to the west

Of course. But the only way Russia is actually taking territory from Ukraine today is by absolutely leveling it with artillery, glide bombs, and cluster munitions. Do you think there will come a time when Ukrainians decide they’d rather be slaves to Russia than die fighting for liberty? I get these sort of vibes:

Much easier to steal improved land than it is to develop your own.

Is it though? The land they’re taking at this point is worse than undeveloped. All infrastructure is destroyed and left in ruin. There’s unexploded ordnance, mines and chemicals in all the fields and forests… the next (or first?) great leader of Russia will be the person that focuses on internal development: educating the population, raising standard of living (you know, luxuries like flushing toilets outside of Moscow and St Pete), and increasing GDP. Make it a first world nation. How does someone as intelligent as Putin look at his country and decide what will make people remember him is increasing the land area by a couple percent? The 500k men that have been killed or disabled in this war could have been improving infrastructure in that shit hole of a country.

Yelling at clouds because I do not want to watch every single play of every game. I suspect he'll get better this season, but hope Mukuba is the starter. Regardless, he was not good they last 2 seasons, but payers grow and get better (even Jett Bush got better), and since Taaffe is a smart kid, I hope his athleticism catches up with his brain. He's not Gideon or Haines.

Are you saying he’s better or worse than Gideon and Haines?

2-3? Go look at the entire season where he was picked on constantly. He's slow as fuck, takes shitty angles, gets burned, but I guess those 3 INT'S make up for it since they landed in his hands at the perfect time.

Ok so you can’t point to any specific plays… do advanced stats show his deficiency? Are you willing to support your claim at all or are we just here yelling at clouds?

I mean - it's a very relevant topic considering we're joining the conference next season.

I never said that or thought that. I just think Texas is going to need to do a bit more than go 2/3 against the B12 this season to make any noise at all in the postseason. The conference is pretty clearly down. "Ranked" OU just got swept by fucking Lamar.

I think we should all be able to agree that Texas needs to be better and more consistent from here on out than we have been. In the series win against Tech we gave up 7 runs every game. In this series we weren't competitive in one of the games. We lost a game at home to a shitass Baylor team.

I'm glad they're scrapping and staying alive and taking advantage of a bad conference - but they're going to need to do more to have any hope of making a run this season.

Also, hook em. Definitely enjoyed that one today. Especially going yard back to back on the 2nd coming of Mariano.

Beyond hosting and getting an easier path, baseball post season success has almost nothing to do with the regular season. All that matters is being hot at the right time. We just need to take it one game at a time and get into the tournament. Next year is next year. Yes, we need to bring in transfers if we want to win the SEC. Maybe our portal additions next year won’t all get hurt and/or quit the game, that would be cool.

Man, I'm a lunatic poster and all.  But this shit is really starting to fuck with my head.  Not a hard task, granted.  But there's a house at the end of my street, and it's probably one of the ten most valuable homes in our HOA.  And this Russian lives in it.  And I'm talking all week to our guys at our Maryland terminal/domicile about logistical changes they gotta make with the bridge outta commission.  And was speaking with Tom yesterday.  Been with the company in some form or fashion for 55 years.  And it's just a shitshow.

After Russia invaded Ukraine, this Russian at the end of our street, buys a decked-out Audi Q8 and leaves it parked at the base of his driveway for a week with no movement.  Then after things go sideways, it suddenly disappears and he's back in his Toyota.  Then earlier this month, two separate police vehicles show up to his home as I'm picking my daughter up from the bus stop.  One of the four officers had his hand on his service weapon which gave me great pause.  I learn from a contact in local LEO that the FBI is looking into his 'household situation.'  This week, he's been out of town...I don't keep track.  I only know this because his son shows up on my immediate next-door neighbor's Nest Camera (or whatever you call them).  His son and his friend decided to take a piss in my neighbor's driveway (they've been bothering all the girls on the street lately as some sort of pre-teen act-out phase).  Neighbors are on vacation.  But he  texts and says yeah, they were being weird, took off the shirts and sprayed urine everywhere.  Few hours later, they show up on our driveway to race bikes down it.  Which is fine, lotta kids do it because it's long and has a good pitch.  He scrambles back to his home because there's an Uber pulling up and the kid screams he's gotta get home to say hello to his dad coming back from a business trip.  And to try to make nice, I was making small talk with the kid as I was pulling weeds so he'd understand we're nice people and to leave my girls alone.  And I politely say, "Alright, well have a good evening.   Where is your dad coming back from?"  And of course, the kid says, "Baltimore."  These people are really starting to piss me off.

You should share the Russians address, broken up with special characters so this doesn’t come up in a Google search, of course. Not that anyone on the site might be interested in triggering him with Ukrainian flag magnets or anything like that

Check this out for a glimpse: Speaking at the 2024 AFA Warfare Symposium, Gen. James Hecker described what the U.S. has learned from unmanned aerial vehicles—or UAVs—in Ukraine, and how they will change warfare.

    He’s kind of a big deal https://www.af.mil/About-Us/Biographies/Display/Article/1152399/james-b-hecker/

Is this the one from a couple weeks ago where he talks about how they use cell phones to listen for drones?

The old Paragon Prep building is a homeless camp. Maybe they are there to study all those old textbooks.

I wonder if he's going to be found too crazy to stand trial and be released back on the streets. Yay for tax paying citizens!

    https://www.kxan.com/news/crime/take-some-time-to-wear-off-76-year-old-woman-home-when-man-experiencing-homelessness-breaks-in-apd/

AUSTIN (KXAN) — “I thought it was a good time to relax and watch a movie,” 76-year-old Kathy Struck said about the afternoon of March 16. Her daughter Jennifer had just left for the grocery store.

    The back door was unlocked.

“All of a sudden, I turn my head, and there’s a man in my bedroom,” Struck said, adding that the man also went through her pantry and refrigerator.

She said she stayed calm and got him to leave, locking the door behind him.

“Then I heard noise, I heard loud banging,” Struck said. He got back in, breaking through the laundry room window. And his demeanor changed, she said.

“Destroying things, and he was moving the washer and dryer, so at that time, I decided I better call 911,” Struck said. Between the call and the time police got there, Struck said the man got into her toolbox. “They sent a policeman. The minute he saw the man, he pulled his gun and said ‘Drop the hammer.'”

Police said the man was experiencing homelessness.

This happened in central Austin off of North Lamar Boulevard. The Austin Police Department (APD) said the man barricaded himself in the laundry room.

“When officers arrived, they made multiple attempts to get the suspect out of the room using commands and pepper balls,” the department said in a statement. “After a round of pepper balls, officers were successful getting the suspect out and making an arrest.”

While police worked to get the man out of Struck’s house, she said one officer stayed with her in her room.

“He kept me busy talking. We could hear what was going on out there,” she said. Struck said she saw crews take the man away in an ambulance.

He faces burglary charges, according to police.

KXAN learned of Struck’s story when her neighbors reached out about growing homeless activity at an abandoned building nearby on Old Koenig Lane.

The City told us it’s aware of concerns related to the building, and has previously requested support from the Austin Police Department in clearing the camps set up inside. Following code violations related to trash and needing to secure the property – the Develop Services Department says city contractors have repeatedly installed new fences and boarded up the property.

The fire department said a person experiencing homelessness was responsible for a fire at that very building last week. According to the Development Services Department, staff are meeting with the Building Standards Commission next month to request a demolition order.

While police said the man who broke into Struck’s home is listed as homeless, they could not confirm he was staying at that building.

“It’s hard because a large percentage of these homeless people are mentally ill,” Struck said, adding that she feels compassion towards the people setting up camp at the abandoned building.

Her neighbor Samantha Sampson expressed a similar sentiment.

“I don’t blame them for trying to find shelter they’re doing what they need to do to survive as people,” Sampson said.

Austin’s Homeless Strategy Office said staff “and our partners have been regularly conducting outreach in the area,” explaining that includes “services on a voluntary basis” and providing shelter beds when they’re available.

As for Struck, she hopes more help comes.

Where was Adam Brown when we needed him?!
