  1. Cain says he woke up thinking Texas.

“To be honest, I was a Texas lean this morning. I was telling my parents, Texas, Texas, Texas,” Cain said. “But I prayed, and it was a hard night just going back on Penn State or Texas. Those were the two final schools that were here with me until this day. They stayed with me consistently. Honestly it came down to where would I be the most focused at and not around distractions. Everybody knows Austin is a big city but I have to be focused through and out. I’m a business dude, I gotta handle my business. And just be different. It might not be the most popular decision, but it is the best decision for myself.”

  2. It takes a little bit of time to start liking the characters. At first they truly are annoying, and they sorta stay that way, but over the course of the show, they become more humble and love able, especially Moira

I agree with this. I got in early not expecting anything and over the course of two seasons it grew on me to the point now it’s my family’s favorite show. The character development is as good as it gets imo. In my house we have the TV on in the background pretty much all the time - just comfort noise. Shows go back and forth between The Office, Bob’s Burgers, Schitt’s Creek.

  3. We would have lost so much pop culture if Pacino hadn’t played Scarface. Or maybe we would have gained a better film? I don’t know - just seems like he is Scarface in my eyes.

  4. Dwight stole the show.
Fun movie.  Would watch again for free on HBO.

Apparently Statham was pissed because the original cut was pretty gory, but the studio wanted a PG-13 flick to make more money and it was all cut.

They should release 2 versions. Why has no studio done this? PG-13 for the mass audience, R for the rest of us. I’m sure there is a reason. I guess it depends if they shot the gory scenes and cut them vs not shooting them at all.

  5. Just watched all episodes a 2nd time. In the first episode (i think) when Amma is showing her the doll house the framed pictures in the dollhouse says “girl” the first time and then it’s gone. I’m sure there is a ton of stuff I’m missing.

  6. I was at the Saturday night show. My first time there as well. Beautiful chilly evening and just a great concert.

I wish I would have gone Saturday night - they played more of our favorite songs including “I wish i was” which Is my gf’s absolute favorite.

I might consider doing all 3 nights next year. Does anyone know if there is a cool place to stay that’s closer so you don’t have to go back and forth to Denver?

  7. Well, Wu, what did you think??

Far exceeded all expectations. I was trying to explain it to a friend and I could come up with was “more spiritual than any church I’ve been in.” The venue is beautiful and I love the Avett Brothers. Didn’t hurt that we were 2nd row center.31d5535a8f265064587051642f218340.jpg2c6a0f6b799cb2748d5d3a43ac4b3da5.jpg52a4012932e3c0a9dccba0c37bdf007f.jpg

  8. My gf and I are headed to Red Rocks this Friday night to see The Avett Brothers, neither of us have been. We somehow got 2nd row center tickets and I’m not sure I’ve been this excited for a concert.

We are staying Downtown and are looking to take a shuttle. Anyone have experience with any of the shuttle companies?

    Any other suggestions?

  9. It should not have taken this many posts to get to Hell or High Water.
There is a Mr. Pibb sucking compared to Dr Pepper joke in this film.  This is a Texas joke, in a Texas movie, with Texas characters, that kicks all kinds of ass.

So much this. Damn I hate myself for forgetting this. My favorite scene is the diner - that old lady waitress is so accurate to what you might run across if you are in the O&G industry out there or just live in a small town.

“I’ve been workin here 44 years, ain’t nobody ever ordered nuthin but the T-bone steak and a baked potato, except for one asshole from New York that ordered the trout back in 1987”.

  10. Could be. Thought they mentioned going to Dallas. Plus that type of crazy i could see happening in East Texas

Yeah - the FBI office was in Dallas.

Also - to me The Thin Blue Line set the foundation for true crime docs and it’s in Dallas.

  11. Would be cool if someone updated the list. I was going to add Legend of Boggy Creek, Charlie Wilson’s War, Thin Blue Line, Place’s in the Heart (I dated Possum in college, no shit. She was also young Holly Hunter in Broadcast News), The Tree of Life, those Tarantino movies filmed in Austin - Planet Terror, etc,, A Perfect World, Secondhand Lions.

  12. Finally saw this tonight, loved it. Has one of the most difficult scenes I can remember sitting through in the the theater. Gut wrenching.

  13. My absolute favorite band.  Love I Should Live in Salt, About Today, I Need My Girl, Slow Show.  Went to LA a few weeks ago just to see them play 4 songs at IHeartRadio concert.  No other band gets to me like they do - a great band to listen to when you travel a lot for work.  I love to sit in an airport and listen.
