  1. The movie suffers from Matthew Modine being a shitty actor and drops off in the 2nd half.

I always thought the wooden acting especially from Modine was so obvious that it had to be a Kubrick thing for the sake of his “art”. I guess the argument could be made that Modine was bad even after taking that in to account.

For example “I want to slide my tubesteak in to your sister” line. So strange and unnatural.

  2. Yeah this show is amazing.  This and Barry and the two best shows on TV this year, and it's not close.

Both are up there for sure. Wish we had a thread for overall TV shows. I think Fleabag is in that conversation (not to derail this thread).

  3. Guarantee you don't. And they probably just laugh behind your back.

You are not serious. Kids/athletes don’t think this way at all. Kids from all over go to Norman, College Station, etc and go to Kentucky or Kansas for basketball without blinking an eye, much less Austin, TX.

Also - I’m in the environmental software business, always have worked for CA based companies and deal with the far left every day and never encounter this other than “your state regs are fucked”. Any educated person knows Dallas/Houston/Austin/SA are very diverse areas.

  4. Some time ago, provoked by watching some British/Irish shows, I had to turn on closed-captioning to understand.  Now its a way of life for me. I have to turn it off for sports, and that's it.  Wife scoffed at me at first, now she's down with the sickness too.

My family has had CC on for years (I actually thought most people did this). I will say it takes away from the story because you get to the point you are just staring at the bottom of the screen. Love it for most things - but for certain movies we definitely turn it off.

  5. Just watched Mindhunter for the second time. This show is damn close to my favorite series Netflix has put out. The Kemper interviews are almost “True Detective level” badass for me. Hopefully Season 2 will push it over the line.

I love this shit. Why do we all love this shit? (True Crime)

  6. I thought it was a great episode.  Cercei and Jaimie dying together as the world literally crumbles around them was poetic (they did die, right?), as was Arya going from an angel of death to a protector of life.  Clegane Bowl lived up to the hype.  Last episode will be the Tyrion and the Stark's taking out Mad Dany.

Ok - the episode is about them taking her out. What about the unsullied and Dothraki? They follow her - how do you take them out? If she gets killed, you still have to take care of them somehow.

  7. The Bundy movie was pretty good.

Nothing really new but interesting to see it from Liz’s perspective.

And Efron really embodies Bundy. He looks eerily like him and captures the charisma and charm he possessed that made it easy for him to get young women to trust him.

Just started watching the new show “Dead To Me” with Christina Applegate and Linda Cardelini. Very darkly funny show and each episode is only 30 minutes so it’s a quick watch.

Same kind of vibe as “Santa Clarita Diet”.

Actually better than I expected. The last 10 minutes especially.
