  1. I was at that game as well.  Crazy stat in that game.  In the 4Q, we had the ball for 2 offensive snaps.  That's it.  That's gotta be a record.

1st play of the 4Q, Simms hit BJ Johnson for an 80 yard TD.  Then Tech had some 7min drive.  They kickoff to us and one of our big RBs took the kickoff like 60 yards.  We have the ball around the Tech 35 and on the 1st play of that drive Simms threw a pick in the endzone.  We never got the ball back.  Tech grinded the clock down to the very end.

    2 snaps.  Crazy.

I was in their crackerbox of a stadium in 2002 for the Chris Simms vs. Kliff Kingsbury debacle when Simms airmailed them the victory late in the fourth quarter.  I had my two daughters with me.  All we were guilty of was wearing burnt orange and cheering for the Horns, but those lightweight cocksuckers talked so much vulgar shit to me in front of my girls that I'll never darken the door of their stadium, again.  Fuck sand aggy.  Easily the worst fans in the Big 12 and it's not even close.

The last time I remember anyone raving about El Arroyo was that Pat Green or Cory Morrow song and yeah that was like 20 years ago not 10...

And I have had many good times at El Arroyo but I wasn't going there for the food. The west 5th street location had cheap drinks and a good location. A good buddy of mine had his bachelor party in Austin and we had the night-1 dinner at El Arroyo downtown.  I don't even know if I ate any food but we had a big group and the staff was great in dealing with us because our table was growing & growing as people showed up.  I might or might have fallen asleep at Palazzio (or whatever it was called) that night.  This was like 12 years ago.  In 2008 or 2009, I ran into Joel Meyer and Joel Klatt from Fox Sports Net there because they were doing our home opener the next day.  Klatt invited me to their table and I spent a good 30 minutes at their table before going back to our table. Good times...

In grad school, I lived off Far West and I had my last meal with my Abuela at that Far West El Arroyo after I graduated with my Masters from UT. She passed away about 6 weeks later. I don't remember the last time I thought about that. Thank you thread....

El Arroyo - Holy hell, this place has had a dramatic fall from over the past few years.   Aside from the iconic sign and the nostalgia factor, what more do they do well?  I can’t imagine they’re long for this world.

was george mitchell responsible for the statues?

No doubt that George Mitchell ok'ed the statues.

I reached out to the Coop about getting $50 in gift cards for a non-profit silent auction and the email chain went all the way up to him for approval.  $50.  Yeah, he approved the statues.

No surprise. They grew too fast after the national title and now having to cut back due to the fact that we have sucked and how e-commerce (and Amazon) have impacted brick & mortar retail.

It looks like they are closing all their stores except the one on the Drag.  Makes sense.

What doesn't make sense is how much they paid their CEO, George Mitchell. Dude got paid $3MM over a 4 year period?  It's a non-profit and their revenue doesn't warrant that. That is on the Board and Mitchell. They should be ashamed.
