  1. This should be quoted in reply to every post RD is making on this subject. The problem with Randolph's argument is that it assumes there's a fixed pool of money and we're deciding how to allocate it. Meyer creates incremental funds, likely not only to cover his expense but to help the program above and beyond his expense. There are some legitimate reasons you could consider for why our AD might second guess Meyer, but not being able to afford him is just asinine.
  2. I'm going to quote myself bc this is still my feeling with the game over. All today proves is that this team was capable of much more with the appropriate preparation. Anything positive Tom did for himself tonight is equally damning of the job he did against tech, tcu, and ou. He should still be gone, but I'm really happy for the players who deserved the win.
  3. It's counter intuitive, but if we win it's particularly damning of Herman. OSU is a better team than tech, tcu, or ou this year. If we win, that will only confirm the knock on Herman. He can prepare and motivate his teams for a few big games a year, but can't do this on a week to week basis for less exciting matchups. A win simply proves we had the talent to be better this year but have lacked coaching and motivation. A loss just means we're as bad as we thought we were. Either way, it's bad for Tom.
  4. I think there's a decent chance we win, because losing makes so much sense and Herman's teams seem not to do what makes sense. If this game in any way impacts Herman's future, then we're already fucked. After this week, there should be no question about his future as our coach. If he gets to go out with a nice win over osu, good for him.
  5. Ha, I misread your first post to say it was "quite unbelievable" that he had info. We're on the same page.
  6. Unless his connection is more engaged in this current coaching process than the normal day to day of the team? Hard to ignore the timing and confidence in Ewers, and then the other commits. He's also been really specific on Drayton, so that will be interesting to watch. I'm not sold, but he's 2/2 so far by my count.
  7. We get calls from other coaches all the time saying "tell us how you do it, tell us how you've done so well" and they want to know because we have. We've done very, very well, and better than anyone else probably.
  8. Friendship ended with Herman. Now Urban is best friend.
  9. We'll try whatever we can, but my guess is both sides know Urban could get pretty much whatever he wants, provided it's possible. I mean, it can't hurt unless we're stupid and overplay our hand, but Urban isn't exactly Charlie or Tom. He knows this game and knows his position in it. We have to try, but he has basically all the cards.
  10. In fairness, I think we've all been having our dis beliefs lately.
  11. Now that is how I want to spend my escapism time. Looks so fun.
  12. "Sorry, son, daddy can't play right now. You see, I have to go draw cartoon dicks to cheer up some very sad people on the internet."
  13. Does@THUJONE still participate here at all? I know the man retired, but certain events call for a reunion tour, and if this isn't one of them, I don't know what would be.
  14. You might not be remembering the scene correctly. You're version doesn't make sense.
  15. What is the good in keeping him? What part of our program would get worse if he's fired? On the field play? Recruiting? Fan support/morale? Press coverage? Please tell me one thing that could get worse if we fired Tom right now, tonight? I can't wait to hear it.
  16. Would make a nice night for other news to fly under the radar. Like a firing, for instance.
  17. Then we'd probably be stuck with Tom? The only if that matters here is if Tom had been a better coach so games like those would never have been in doubt.
  18. Don't waste your time. Someone linked a podcast by the old Houston punter where apparently he talked at one point about Herman checking out on the team once he knew he had a tx offer. Problem is, there were several episodes and no mention of where to find the section on this. I'll just assume it was true.
  19. Have you seen the 21 and 22 classes currently? The next coach will need players to win, so that more players want to come here. We're currently losing them. This is our concern, dude.
  20. Read the room, cdc, read the room.
  21. If this could be in any way substantiated, I hope Herman gets fired without a cent of buyout money.
  22. No, you're right. I was off by a year. He started at OSU in 2019 after Meyer.
