So, pretty much just like any other investment?

No, because crypto is not an investment, it is a speculative asset. Investments have some intrinsic value, stocks and bonds have cashflows for instance, and these fundamentals are what matter. Crypto has no fundamental value, so if enough people decide to sell it becomes worthless.

so who will admit to losing a lot of money in this boondoggle? Anyone? lol

A lot of people have big paper losses. Some have big paper gains. Many people have a couple of grand sitting in these exchanges and are just letting it ride for now, but if the economy starts to suffer and/or stocks tank, a ton of people will decide they want that money and are going to try to pull it out and all at the same time. That's when you will see a lot of these coin prices go to zero.

One may dislike Hitler's system and yet admire his patriotic achievement. If our country were defeated, I hope we should find a champion as indomitable to restore our courage and lead us back to our place among the nations. — Winston Churchill

Ah yes, Winston Churchill, the Man Who is Famous for Being Pro-Nazi.

You are too stupid to breath.

That's the thing — this influx is about a real refugee crisis from gang violence in El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras.   These are desperate people fleeing for their lives.   It's not about the general illegal immigration revolving door of people trying to skirt the system, getting deported, and then crossing back over.   (Although those people too are impacted by the overload on the system by the refugees.)

This is a humanitarian crisis that requires a humanitarian solution, not a criminal crisis that requires a criminal solution.  The law gives the president discretion to go the civil immigration route or criminal route.   Trump is choosing the criminal route, and even worse, for reasons born of pure cruelty.

They knew how things would look under this new policy. It is provides Trump with red meat for the base to rev them up as the midterms approach, and he can use these kids as hostages to get his wall. At one point Kelly used the words "maximum cruelty" and "the nuclear option."

What percentage are actually caught and deported?

The few years prior to 2016, 63% showed up for their first court date.

The Trump admin ended a trial program in 2017 that improved that rate to 90+%. They also use ankle bracelets on a case-by-case basis.

Scaling up ankle bracelets to all asylum seekers with children pending their trial would be a cheap way of making sure they aren't lost in the system without having to take the kids away. But that is not really the point. They want to use these kids as hostages to get the money for the wall.

I loved the finale.  Philip and Elizabeth losing Paige and Henry is a fate much worse than death.  I think either would have rather died during an assignment than move back to Russia, knowing they will never see their children again.

Paige should have an out.  Only Stan knows she's involved.  And he's not gonna rat her out because, oh yeah, Stan let P&E go.  And Stan knows Henry is gonna need her.

I can see why Stan let the Jennings go.  And Philip did a great job.  He's a master manipulator.  He knew exactly what to say to Stan.

That garage scene is gonna be what seals the Emmy for the Americans for best drama.  it's never won.  it's only been nominated once.  but it deserves a statue in its last season.

Gonna be awkward when P&E run into Martha at a grocery store in Moscow.

I disagree Paige will be fine. With her parents outed she will be under very heavy suspicion. Her actions over the past year will be heavily scrutinized and she will be interrogated ruthlessly. I think her best bet is starting fresh under a new identity (not sure she is up to this) or confessing and hoping for a light sentence.

Agree the garage scene is what gives them their emmy. Incredible finale all around. The garage scene and train scene were instantly iconic and will probably be the first things I think of when this show comes up.

  7. Agree with others on chicken stock, pico/salsa.

Grind your own cumin seeds in a mortar rather than use the pre-ground, it makes a huge difference. Grind everything yourself for that matter: chilis, coffee, everything.

Infuse your own simple syrup with mint leaves for juleps. Do it with slices of raw ginger for other cocktails.

  8. With their cover blown, all the minor storylines of the past season go out the window. Therefore, I predict they jump forward again, 1 or 2 years.

The whole family is scattered. Elisabeth is back in Russia, caught up in the political turmoil there. Philip is still in the U.S., on the run from Stan who is still tracking him. Paige is in jail and Henry is in college.

  9. I guess the moral of this story is that just because the president is a racist nutjob, it doesn't mean everyone else can be one too. It is still very much a thing that gets you fired.

The racist nutjobs on this site seem to be taking the news hard.

McCullough's history of the Panama canal, Path Between the Seas, remains the best history book I've ever read.

  11. Is it a safe assumption at this point Philip is blown? They had eyes on the meeting with Father Andrei. Any photos from that meetings should be in front of Stan within a day.

On the other side, Claudia assumes that her and her network are blown, but they don't know Oleg was intercepted with the message.

it is a bad look for malik playing the victim card and throwing others under the bus. he better show up ready to work and handle his business in the nfl, or he wont make it very far

You might consider actually reading his quote before sounding off next time.

  13. Whether he was right to leave this year or not, I have no problem with what he says here. It is ridiculous that guys like him are not being paid given how much they work and the amount of money they generate for their school.

  15. She seems to be derailed by Abernathy now, but what was Delores's plan initially. I get wanting to take over an army and head towards "the door" but then she immediately used the army as bait and then executed any survivors. What purpose did those executions serve?
