Could not agree more.
And is it really an influential work if most of it was wrong? (Based on my previous sentence, determining whom I'm talking about is left as an exercise to the reader.)

Angry Gorilla, at least your wife suggested getting there early.
Yeah, but would you bet even the smallest amount of money that they will get there early?

I think I could have guessed everyone on that list except Lefty Grove. He used to lead the league in strikeouts every year in his prime, but it was at about a 6K/9IP rate.

They can sign up until they set foot in a college classroom.
No, that got changed several years ago. I believe the signing deadline is around July 15.

Fuck this.
QuoteA Corpus Christi man is still recovering after he was bitten by a rattlesnake, even after the snake had already been beheaded.
It happened the weekend of May 27 at a residence near Lake Corpus Christi.
Jennifer Sutcliffe and her husband were doing weekend yard work when she spotted a four-foot rattlesnake. She said her husband quickly took his shovel and severed the snake's head, but moments later when he bent down to dispose of the snake, the snake's head bit him.
"Which in that case since there is no body, it released all its venom into him at that point, so he had a lot of venoms," Sutcliffe said.
Sutcliffe called 911 and began driving her husband to the hospital. He immediately began having seizures, lost his vision and experienced internal bleeding.
Sutcliffe couldn't get her husband to the hospital fast enough, so she met up with an ambulance.
"They HALO-Flighted him into the hospital," Sutcliffe said.
Sutcliffe said the first 24 hours were the worst. Doctors told her husband might not make it, even after giving him vast amounts of antivenom.
"A normal person who is going to get bit is going to get two to four doses of antivenom," Sutcliffe said. "He had to have 26 doses."
Sutcliffe's husband is now in stable condition, but his kidney function is still weak.

I’m still pissed about what they did to us last night, but I watched them throughout the Oxford regional, and trust me, they’re playing pissed. I’ve got a ton of respect for these guys, they’re scrappy, disciplined, and will fight tooth and nail. Texas needs to jump on them quick, and keep on them, because they can find a chink in the armor very quickly and exploit it.
Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkRemember that year that Penn State lucked into a Regional win and they got sent here for the Supers and they were beaten as soon they walked into the stadium and saw the crowd and got wide-eyed?
Well, this is not going to be like that. Surviving that Oxford crowd says a lot about this team.

What is strange is that he seems like his dad was involved. Shame that he didn't get better guidance to keep him on a better path. His friends looks like he was the main culprit but who knows.
Kind of reminds me of the Dallas Carter stuff. Most of those kids were from good 2-parent families, but they somehow decided that because they were good at football, they were untouchable.
Watching those dads on the 30 for 30 talk about it was just heartbreaking.

Did you talk to your insurance company about special considerations for students out of state?
If she registers the car in Colorado, when will your insurance company find out? Do they routinely check that or only when the insurance plan is renewed?
1. Already talked to the insurance company.
2. They'd probably find out when she had a wreck and we had to file a claim, which they'd then deny paying.

I believe the purple warning track only lasted one year because it was universally mocked.

Surprised U-Dub has zero priors, what with the west coast influence and their resources.
Our resources have historically been spent on everything but baseball. We didn't have a stadium with permanent seating until 2014, IIRC.
Before that, the "stadium" was a collection of those temporary bleachers that you normally find at shitty high school fields:
That's actually the "improved" version from the one that they used when I was there in the 90's.

Daughter took her car back to college in Colorado last fall, got a summer internship there, and her TX registration expires in August. Which means the car needs a TX safety inspection first before we can renew TX registration.
The gum in the gears:
a. Colorado does not have a reciprocal state inspection with Texas -- they only do emissions.
b. She can't stay on our insurance if she registers the car in Colorado. Putting her on her own insurance would cost significantly more.
So what do we do?
1. Have her take a 9-hour road trip to Texline to get it inspected.
2. Help?????

And Auburn gave Bruce Pearl a contract extension through 2023.
That's the most Auburn thing ever. But I guess the AD had to do it, because there were other schools just dying to hire Bruce Pearl right now.

Rick Sutcliffe said today that if he were starting a franchise and he could choose any player in baseball to start with it would be Luis Severino, which sounds like something Rick Sutcliffe would say. Just a laughable decision. Sevy is young, and super talented, and might win the Cy Young this year, a year after finishing third; he’s awesome. But your number one pick? Out of everyone available? Sorry, I’ll take any number of position players ahead of the latest young, promising pitcher.
Sutcliffe is an assclown blowhard. Basically an unpolitical Schilling.
Quit listening to him, and more importantly, quit posting his idiocy here.
(Irony: Sutcliffe and Schilling are two of my favorite players ever.)

For all the S-E-C!S-E-C! shit you normally hear, they are eating their own over at SECRant. It's pretty glorious.
-
So we're looking at...
Auburn-UF/FAU
Tech-Duke
Arky-Soused Caramelizer
Horns-Tenn Tech
Fullerton-UDub
MSU-Vandy
UNC-Stetson
Oregon St-Minny
Just as we all predicted!

So did I miss something or is there a legit chance that 3 teams will lose both games in their regional from the SEC today? Has that level of choke ever happened before?
Pretty sure the current level of choke has never happened before.
