Just a quick reminder about an event that I'm chairman for this spring. We are inside three weeks until the Touchdown Club of Dallas' Big Texas BBQ at Fair Park/Cotton Bowl. Our Rib/Appetizer Cook-Off was originally scheduled for 4/16 but we made the decision to moved the event to 5/21 due to many of our usual attendees having scheduling conflicts with the OG date falling on Easter weekend.

Here's the deal -- $50 general admission ticket includes open bar ALL DAY LONG, doors open at 10 AM, live music starts at 11 AM, Gary P Nunn headlines and is expected to go on around 6:30 or 7. Fletcher's will be on hand selling corny dogs. Tootsie Tomanetz and Daniel Vaughn headline our celebrity judges panel. Adult beverages provided by Ben E Keith Distributors, Tito's, Treaty Oak and Osadia, etc. Should be a lot of fun -- and supports a great cause, the Ashford Rise School of Dallas.

We'll also be selling a limited number Gary P Nunn-signed copies of the event poster (see below). I'll have more details on that as we get closer.

Tickets can be purchased at www.bigtexasbbq.org or on-site the day of the event.

Texas Motor Speedway has a three day NASCAR race/All Star event that weekend. Plenty of room and tens of thousands of people from all over the country attending. I would love to see events like this combined.

I'm going to the NASCAR race next Sunday in Austin. Any advice? I went to COTA for the US F1 GP wondering how different it is to this.

What kind of advice? Where to sit? Scanner? What?

IRL at TMS. I had no idea they were running today.

I've been to every IndyCar race at TMS...this was the least promoted race ever. Love or hate Gossage, he was a promoter.

And this was the best race at TMS by far since the repave/PJ1.

Since Baylor is sold out, it’s this or one of the last 2 WBB games left (4 if you hit up the first 2 rounds of the NCAAT we should end up hosting) to enjoy a last game in the FEC

This being the next to last game at The Drum (that's what we called it when I was a freshman in 1982-83) and the fact that I haven't been there this century is why I am braving the latest Texas ice storm to drive from Parker County tomorrow.

I don’t have any experience seeing comedy acts in Vegas but some of the big names do roll thru town so try searching to see if any will be there on your dates.

It seems odd to me, but Carrot Top does really well there and has been doing his show for a long time and supposedly it’s really good. Think it’s at the Luxor. I just can’t seem to want to go to that for some reason.

I've seen Carrot Top twice in the past 7 years or so. Very funny and there was a good opening act both times.

  6. I grew up in Farmers Branch (64-82) and I am in the process of selling my parents home that was built in 1959. My best friend still lives in Farmers Branch. I've never heard it called The Branch. Generally speaking, Farmers Branch is east of GB/190. north of 635, west of Midway or Inwood and south of Fyke Rd (just south of Beltline Rd).

  7. The 88 Carter offense was nothing special. They may have had the greatest defense ever, but not the best team. They were tied by Duncanville and had 4 other games decided by 7 points or less.

Yes both places. Beer Barn is right next to the main Cotton Bowl entrance. Red and white building.

Where is the OG six coupon beer on The Midway this year? I couldn't find it.

you mean someone actually believes that was an accident?

    Well here's Dillon's take

"I don’t know why it happened really. I thought I had a little room to come up, and he just held me down there a little too long, I guess."

The data the teams get will tell the true story as to when who lifted and turned.

No, seriously. Go fuck your own face. Kes says he didn't mean to wreck Dillon, so fair enough, but it looked pretty bad. At best, it was really shitty driving. At least he didn't kill Dillon or anyone else.

But if you wanna act like I'm the only one who reacted that way to what absolutely looked like a guy intentionally crashing another guy out, then you're a fucking moron. But we already knew that.

Like I said, oh you are so cool.

You have joined the futureman club that now has two members, congrats.

At least as of 2019, dispensaries were legally required to be outside of the “gaming corridor.” There was an exception carved out for the industrial zone which is why Reef and P13 are within a mile of the Strip.

    So options are:
    1) the law changed since 2019 and no one has put a massive Disneyland-style dispensary on the strip yet
    2) the places Gil saw are breaking the law
    3) they are selling something that isn’t THC

3 is very close to correct...what they are selling has a very small amount of THC
