The dry-aging elevates it IMO.  I've had dry-aged done through HEB/CM, and it's not as good.  I've had a lot of dry-aged beef, and this is really nice.  SRF is really good, but I don't think they do dry-aged do they?

Pricing is good as well.  This was a little over 32 oz for $68.

Cool, thanks for the info.  My summer hols have likely been turned into a week at a Galveston beach house so going to put in an order.

First time I've purchased from Flannery.  Won't be the last.

Is it that much better than say a good steak from Central Market or Snake River Farms/44 Farms?  I've thought about ordering for years but just haven't done it.

I was supposed to go to London to visit some friends late July and not happening now, it sucks. Still hoping to go to Alaska before winter starts since my gf hasn't been home to see her family in almost 2 years.

I was supposed to move back to London in April but that all fell apart for the near term.  Hoping to make the leap back over around the end of August if things continue to improve here and the UK is opened back up.  It's a bit of a juggling act with a house to sell, movers to book, etc.

I don’t understand airlines not requiring masks on all passengers. What possible reason could they have for not requiring it?

Because people will fuck it up and not bring masks, at a high percentage of the cabin.  I think it's a no-brainer for airlines to require masks, but they need to be supplied with a large amount of spare masks to hand out for those that forget or choose not to comply.

  5. Going to do a ham from B&B Butchers (in Houston) for Easter Sunday.  Seemed like the best place for us to do curbside.  Lots of steak places open, but I just don't think steak works well for takeout.  Plus I can load up on some cuts from the butcher shop, which I have not tried before.

  6. Haven't worn any of mine since I returned from London on March 12th.  I had the VC Overseas with me on that trip and it is still sitting on the bedside table in our spare bedroom, along with my wedding band.  I slept in there for about 10 nights when I got back from London due to some concerns with a co-worker that was coughing like mad when I left (turned out OK).  I couldn't leave the house without a watch on, but just working at home/sitting around/sitting outside I am shocked I haven't even thought twice about it.  Maybe I will start wearing again next week.  After the pants come back on.

Shaved it all off last week with a #2.  Figured I would have plenty of time for it to grow back, and turns out I am right.

I’m assuming he is printing these himself?  Standard-issue gift cards work through a bank/credit card processor and teh business doesn’t get the funds until the gift card is used

Got the gift card in the mail a few days ago.  It’’s a store labeled card you can swipe.  Don’t know if the cash is given up front or drawn when the card is swiped.  Honestly don’t care.  Just the latest update from my end.

Not sure actually but I presume you may be right.   I bought one this morning and he's putting it in the mail today.

  10. I know many of you will be familiar with the Marquis II in Houston.  It's a local legend of a bar that is trying to survive right now and struggling, as are many others.  The owner, Al, is doing gift cards now to try and keep things going until he can reopen.  If you're a fan of the place and so inclined, you can reach him via email at al@marquis2.com to pick one up.

Just landed in Newark. CDG was like the fall of Saigon this morning. Wife woke me up at 3am yelling trump closed the border. Every other American on the continent seemed to have the same thought and a wide open flight went to full. Actually had to sit in Premium Plus with the part time poors. I didn't have the virus before but probably caught it at the airport. Packed in like Ray Dog's girlfriend's neighborhood.

Same happened to me although I was in London.  Wife called around 1am and said change your flight.  We knew the UK wasn’t in the mix but I wanted to get home before there was a change of heart.  I changed my flight at 1:30am and business was half full.  Now the whole flight was on standby.  We’re about to land, and I can’t wait to get off this bird.

I got the exact opposite. I have seen worse but that was a shit response to a real issue. Couple that speech with the shit at the Senate committee earlier today and I have less optimism. We are going to lose a large amount of our olds. I hope not and I wish we were more aggressive/analytical in this deal.

Couldn’t agree more.  Especially from someone who was in London and got a wakeup call around 1am from my wife saying it’s probably time to get home.  I was due to fly back Saturday.   I realize that doesn’t affect most but it’s been damn stressful for Americans in Europe now.

What do y’all spend per bottle on average?

Cellartracker tells me it's $89.90 but that was skewed from when I was heavily building up a cellar from around 2012-2017.  I really haven't bought much the past few years except my annual buy of Burg futures and maybe a Bordeaux future or two to keep my Lynch Bages vertical going.

On a side note, I am moving back to London in April and need to unload a Eurocave that holds around 100 bottles and is about 10 years old.  Let me know if there is any interest on the board.  Have a Klose smoker too if anyone is interested.

I did backofthebike in Sai Gon last time. I've done a food walking tour in Bkk as well. I would likely do a other one in each city.

For Hanoi, I found Hanoi Motorbike Street Foods to be fantastic.

The time I tried to keep it for a year, it started to congeal.  It didn't smell bad, but it was starting to look like sour cream.  Probably still could have drank it because there's too much alcohol in it for anything to be able to grow.

Same with mine.  I took last years version out to look at it before Thanksgiving.  Smelled fine, looked like a runny cottage cheese so I ditched.  Need to get going on a new batch.

Leftover roast beef, mashed potatoes, and cabbage mixed together and fried...usually in bacon grease. It’s glorious.

It normally doesn't have the roast beef, or at least not when I have had it (lived in the UK for 7+ years).  It's essentially the vegetable leftovers from a Sunday roast, fried up as you mention.

I've never been a fan, but maybe the roast beef would make the dish for me.
