Don’t know if Sweat will go that high, but as a Cowboys fan, I would love it.

This is about where he was projected pre-DWI, so if he goes this high, then the outrage/moral high ground didn’t last a month.

Kind of like Bill Belichick. That guy absolutely sucked ass picking in the 1st & 2nd round, but got bargain prices on veterans who wanted to come get a ring with Tom Brady… who also took less than market so that there would be more money for free agents.

If SF hadn’t lucked out on Brock Purdy, Kyle Shanahan & John Lynch may be gone by now, or on the hot seat going into this season. Their move to get Trey Lance could have set the franchise back 5 years if not for Mr. Irrelevant saving their asses.

What's extra crazy is that the 49ers got more of a return for trading Lance than what the Patriots, Jets, or Bears got for trading their bust QB picks.

Dan Patrick and Brady Quinn are already questioning why Buffalo would let the chiefs have worthy

The entire reason the Chiefs have Mahomes is because the Bills dealt them that 10th pick. And now they do another draft day trade with them? If I was Beane I would never answer the phone for a KC area code again.

“Since the Israel-Hamas war began, the U.S. Education Department has launched civil rights investigations into dozens of universities and schools in response to complaints of antisemitism or Islamophobia. Among those under investigation are many colleges facing protests, including Harvard and Columbia.”

The article lists Emory, Emerson College, City College of New York, USC, Ohio State, UT, Indiana U Bloomington and so on.

My question is this: what if the groups were deranged MAGA folk. Would it be ok to shut down campus. Graduation ceremonies and the like? We’ve seen what’s happened at Columbia. What if the protestors were involved in Jan 6 and sitting outside government buildings in every state and you could see earlier encampments not leaving and becoming more emboldened? So just let the protests grow to what is happening in Columbia? Why aren’t they out in front of government buildings? The government is the only entity that can change the tide of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

I don’t give a fuck if no one here likes me or cares for my opinion. In many ways it’s why I post less and less on surly (most posters probably are relieved.) I donate when I can to the World Kitchen (bc I know my money is going to help.) the whole situation in Gaza is beyond my ability to help. It doesn’t mean I don’t feel for and love those people who are suffering. I do but I’m also not foolish enough to believe that we can force Israel to do much of anything. Neg away!

Still in Atlanta so The protestors are safe from me if they go strolling into the entertainment district for a cocktail after a wild day of trying to occupy campus.

I don't care if you support Israel or if you support Gaza or whatever it may be. To be honest, it seems like a bad idea to have an opinion on a holy war. But I know what I saw in those videos. And I'm not OK with it. And you shouldn't be either.

    So?

There's also a large portion that have about as progressive views as you can. I thought diversity was a good thing. I would put diversity of thought in that bucket as well.

In an ideal world, universities encourage that sort of thing.

Who thinks like this? "We should allow dumb viewpoints that are not factually based to be disseminated everywhere in the name of having diverse opinions!"

Only a troll would say that.

The only thing I have to add is that it is extremely weird to me that some of you are taking the same stance as Texags and not immediately gut checking.

There's a lot of people here that make fun of aggie in the aggie thread for being so stupid and then go and share their dumb aggie opinions on actual issues in the world. It's really weird.

  6. The Lakers are cooked. And you don't lose that many games in a row to the same team without coaching being an issue. Michael Malone has stunted all over Darvin Ham for 2 years now. This is pro sports....that's just sad to be owned that badly. And I think Denver has looked vulnerable, not a foregone conclusion that they win it all.

I don't know.  I graduated 20+ years ago.  But there were designated spaces for protests.  Schools have time, place and manner restrictions for first amendment activities.  These restrictions, if viewpoint neutral and compliant with court precedent, are enforceable.  No matter how much you want to hide your face with a mask and protest Jews right to exist.

"I have no idea what happened here and zero understanding of the situation. But here's my opinion anyway."

Doesn't that just sum up the internet so perfectly?

Just waiting for the inevitable moment where my Vikes bundle their two 1st rd picks and move up to draft their next Christian Ponder emoji90.png

If they get Penix watch out.

  9. Sounds like Byron Murphy might be the pick at 8 for the Falcons and the favorite to be first defensive player off the board. Simms has been singing his praises for awhile now.

I don't enjoy Reggie on any level. I saw him at Summer League a few years back and he was a complete dickhead to some kids there.

And his understanding of situational basketball is embarrassing. That ridiculous bullshit the other night when he suggested that someone intentionally miss a free throw up 3 was mind boggling. Last night he was suggesting that the Lakers take a timeout when there was no reason for it. And on top of all that, his voice grates on me. He's my least favorite announcer right now, by far.

He used to come on DP show and was a good guest there, they always had good banter so I didn't mind him. I'm with you though that he just sucks total ass as an announcer and TNT is gonna definitely replace him because we all notice it.

Yeah, I like seeing LeBron ironically whine about officiating, but a head blow after the shot isn't "marginal."

Below is from the "NBA video rulebook" and this is a guy touching the hand/wrist, also after the ball is released. The shooter falls down (flops) but it's a foul.

    https://videorulebook.nba.com/archive/point-of-contact-foul-defender-makes-contact-to-shooters-arm-after-release/

So a hit to the head after release is clearly a foul.

It's a foul if the guy doesn't have the ball.

I was confused too. Definitely thought D'Lo got whacked on the head. I don't consider the contact to be "marginal", whatever that means. Ham also should have challenged the foul on Murray at the end, he likely would have won, because that seemed "marginal" as well.

Announcer talk: Reggie is getting worse. Does he actually prepare for these games, or just spout colloquialisms?

I enjoy Reggie as a human but he's bad as an announcer. Extremely bad. It's to the point where I see other analysts and commentators throwing shade.
