  1. Sean Payton was also the guy who thought it was an awesome idea to sign Taysom Hill to significant money because he's decent at a bunch of random shit that has nothing to do with being a QB.

@Pam Cummings I think what gets most people so upset in the inconsistency. One referee sees the same thing the opposite the way another ref sees it. That seems to be in college as well, and even to high school.

At the Pitt games this year our group always jokes about how the refs should come and call the game from our corner seats because, obviously, people see the game so much better 20 rows off the floor than the refs see things.

To me it just comes off as "but the refs" was a pre-loaded excuse for Nuggets fans in case this series was close or they somehow lost.

  3. I did watch the game. The reversed call was bad. But when it happened in the other direction when Russell was smacked in the head in the other game I didn't hear any conspiracy theories. The most annoying thing was Austin Reaves doing the thing where he pump fakes someone, gets them in the air, then bumps into them to get a foul call. That's really annoying. But he is not the only one doing that. I've seen Jokic do it too. That particular call really annoys me when it happens.

I can't say I really want some food service but have had friends to work so I can accepts and spent a lot of time in kitchen.  Don't think that talk is that uncommon in the kitchen.

That first sentence is a real beaut.

  5. I'm in a $5 per week pool with 20 people and we all get a pick each week. Needed Rory to lose that one. Fuckin Ramey/Trainer killed me with that choke job. Not as bad as Blair/Fishburn though. I will say, this was more fun than I thought it would be to watch.

Ouch, that's awful. Didn't even look like that bad of a collision at the time. Hopefully it doesn't impact the TWolves and he can make it back to the sideline before the next round.

It's a very serious injury. And somehow Tony Parker was able to come back from this injury sooner than the malcontent was from his sore leg. But somehow Tony was the asshole for calling it out.

  8. Kiper is one of the main reasons for the draft becoming a TV spectacle and getting everyone to watch. His actual insight has never been why ESPN values him.

Don’t know if Sweat will go that high, but as a Cowboys fan, I would love it.

This is about where he was projected pre-DWI, so if he goes this high, then the outrage/moral high ground didn’t last a month.

Kind of like Bill Belichick. That guy absolutely sucked ass picking in the 1st & 2nd round, but got bargain prices on veterans who wanted to come get a ring with Tom Brady… who also took less than market so that there would be more money for free agents.

If SF hadn’t lucked out on Brock Purdy, Kyle Shanahan & John Lynch may be gone by now, or on the hot seat going into this season. Their move to get Trey Lance could have set the franchise back 5 years if not for Mr. Irrelevant saving their asses.

What's extra crazy is that the 49ers got more of a return for trading Lance than what the Patriots, Jets, or Bears got for trading their bust QB picks.

Dan Patrick and Brady Quinn are already questioning why Buffalo would let the chiefs have worthy

The entire reason the Chiefs have Mahomes is because the Bills dealt them that 10th pick. And now they do another draft day trade with them? If I was Beane I would never answer the phone for a KC area code again.

“Since the Israel-Hamas war began, the U.S. Education Department has launched civil rights investigations into dozens of universities and schools in response to complaints of antisemitism or Islamophobia. Among those under investigation are many colleges facing protests, including Harvard and Columbia.”

The article lists Emory, Emerson College, City College of New York, USC, Ohio State, UT, Indiana U Bloomington and so on.

My question is this: what if the groups were deranged MAGA folk. Would it be ok to shut down campus. Graduation ceremonies and the like? We’ve seen what’s happened at Columbia. What if the protestors were involved in Jan 6 and sitting outside government buildings in every state and you could see earlier encampments not leaving and becoming more emboldened? So just let the protests grow to what is happening in Columbia? Why aren’t they out in front of government buildings? The government is the only entity that can change the tide of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

I don’t give a fuck if no one here likes me or cares for my opinion. In many ways it’s why I post less and less on surly (most posters probably are relieved.) I donate when I can to the World Kitchen (bc I know my money is going to help.) the whole situation in Gaza is beyond my ability to help. It doesn’t mean I don’t feel for and love those people who are suffering. I do but I’m also not foolish enough to believe that we can force Israel to do much of anything. Neg away!

Still in Atlanta so The protestors are safe from me if they go strolling into the entertainment district for a cocktail after a wild day of trying to occupy campus.

I don't care if you support Israel or if you support Gaza or whatever it may be. To be honest, it seems like a bad idea to have an opinion on a holy war. But I know what I saw in those videos. And I'm not OK with it. And you shouldn't be either.

    So?

There's also a large portion that have about as progressive views as you can. I thought diversity was a good thing. I would put diversity of thought in that bucket as well.

In an ideal world, universities encourage that sort of thing.

Who thinks like this? "We should allow dumb viewpoints that are not factually based to be disseminated everywhere in the name of having diverse opinions!"

Only a troll would say that.
