  1. The Astros try the majority of their pitchers as starters in the minors. Most projections didn't see it panning lut for him or that it would take a while. Also if you seriously think Chas should have been a top 100 prospect you can't be helped.
  2. I'm moving to Denver next month and will catch at least one of the games.
  3. Alright fine you roped me into responding to this terrible post. Abreu is a reliever. Starters typically are the only ones making top 100 list. Luis Garcia was ranked #67 in the 2021 list by Keith Law. Javier was never ranked in by any of the major sites for their top 50 or 100. Valdez wasn't ranked by any of the major sites. Chas wasn't ranked by any of the major sites. Urquidy wasn't ranked by Law ever and snuck onto the Baseball prospectus rankings in 2020 at #82. On the other hand calling him integral is a stretch. In the regular season he was below league average with a 98 ERA+. In the postseason his only appearance was in the McCullers blow up game IIRC. Your one victory lap would be on Pena. Baseball America had him ranked #72 in 2022 and Prospectus had him #100, #82 and #16 in the last 3 years. Law only ranked #2 on the Astros only prospects list in 2022.
  4. I was just looking at the Braves recent drafts and it had some interesting info. They have been super pitcher heavy since 2020 with iirc 8/9 of their top picks being pitchers. This last 3 it was 3 hs pitchers. I wonder if that was more of trying to fill holes in their system like the Angels or something else.
  5. Like we need a new closer because Pressly isn't good enough
  6. People would probably say the same thing if LAD inked Cody Bellinger to a big deal a couple years ago. Did you just mix up Pete Alonso and Nolan Arenado?
  7. Wasn't Hunter on it last season?
  8. They've taken 12 threes compared to 23 for Iowa st so the math doesn't check out
  9. I would have also bet a few years ago that Whitley was in our rotation by 2022 so you never know.
  10. If I had the info I would have posted it. That's all that's been reported.
  11. This Cuban pitcher apparently had an agreement with the Astros fro $700k. It obviously fell apart.
  12. Reading comprehension failed
  13. I believe the White Sox have a good amount of Cubans in their farm system but maybe my memory is exaggerating it.
  14. Well Framber, Javier, Garcia and Valdez don't really apply to this topic
  15. I really wanted Griffen Canning in that draft. At least he has made it to the majors as an innings eater. Jeter Downs who got DFA'd recently was also a high pick in that draft.
  16. https://www.mlb.com/news/mlb-front-office-selections-best-farm-systems?t=mlb-pipeline-coverage Astros farm system development very well respected across the league.
  17. It is crazy how inconsistent of a 3 point shooter Rice is while also getting everyone to fall for his shot fake lol
  18. Marcus has a terrible habit of picking up his dribble without a plan.
  19. Oh God the South Park references are back
  20. Hey that's my line
  21. Exciting game but Texas has been really loose with ball control
  22. Showalter doesn't qualify?
  23. https://www.mlb.com/news/mlb-international-prospects-signing-day-2023?t=mlb-pipeline-coverage Astros are expected to sign the #17 and #21 international prospects. They are both from the Dominican Republic.
  24. Or see Roberto Osuna
