  1. Elliott was trying to get Autumn to serve for Orie in that rotation....so got called for arguing about the late substitution.
  2. Elliott needs to sub in a DS for either Logan or Micaya in the back row on serve receive for better passing. We lose a back row attacker, but I think passing will improve for Jhenna to run a cleaner offense. Also, Texas needs to cut down on service errors.
  3. All good points. Cabello is coming in this spring, so it will be interesting to see what happens at the setter position. Does this mean Shook may be transferring since there will be 3 setters on the roster again? I still just don't see Shook beating out Gabriel (even with the little time she has had on the court, she still has trouble setting consistently to the left pin). And if Cabello can set with good location to the pins and to Brionne, she just might beat Jhenna out of her spot... Michelle Kocher was the apparent heir at setter until Hannah Allison came early that spring and won the position. But I really do like the idea of Iosia taking over Hahn' position and keeping with the system we have now with Molly subbing in for Jhenna in the front row. They could actually try a 6-2 system next year. The addition of Parra should improve ball control, serving, and even attacking (she sees the court really well and isn't afraid to attack the block), but she'll give up points with her blocking...but I still think she and Logan will be playing all 6 rotations next year. And even though we probably don't need the attacking option and will defer to defense/ball control, I'd really like to see Skyler play all 6 rotations at Opp. She actually has a strong serve and attacks the D ball well (back row attack from right back of the court). Right now, we need better floor defense behind Jhenna's block, but maybe that may change with 6'1 Cabello setting in a 5-1 system.
  4. These broadcasters are dumbasses
  5. Nalani is the highest ranked Libero coming in at #18. OH Madi Williams is #9 and Setter Naomi Cabello is #6.
  6. At the 1:00 mark, this is why Texas will never be a strong ball control team. Jerritt coaches them to "play the ball high, 20 ft, and 10 ft off (the net)"...meaning the back row players are already planning to pass the ball near or behind the 3 meter line and therefore limiting options in the transition offense. The only place the setter can put the ball is to the left pin (the typical Texas offense for the past decade). Even with hard driven balls, you still want to try to pass the ball 3-5 ft off the net, so that the setter can run an offense with more attack options and to keep the opposing defense guessing where the ball is going. But he doesn't coach that and focuses so much more with blocking to slow down the ball (which, in itself, is a good thing). But when Texas starts facing opposing teams with elite hitters, the block becomes a non-factor and the weakness in passing/ball control is truly exposed (pretty much every post-season tournament run minus 2012 - but no team could really stop Haley/Bailey that year even though every team knew they were getting the ball). Texas has had some of the most elite hitters in the country in recent history: Destinee Hooker, Juliann Faucette, Bailey Webster, Haley Eckerman, and Paulina Prieto-Cerame...but none of them could pass as a left-side hitter at the next level and because of that, most had their careers end early (all of them had to transition to the Opposite position after college but Hooker is the only one who made the move successful). Elliott has done so much for the Texas program, but this will always be the thing he is remembered for.
  7. I'm convinced Elliott hates using practice time for serving and tells them to do it on their own.
  8. She tried switching to a float serve last year and she made even more errors.
  9. Service errors will be the death of this team.
  10. Just following Elliott's trend of playing down to the competition...
  11. Asjia is making a lot of mistakes, missing serves, and is just too slow with her blocks. I think it's time for Elliott to replace Asjia with Molly in the line-up.
  12. Logan's back row defense needs to improve.
  13. Need to get our serves in and get Butler the ball.
  14. Great, Hahn returning back to her former years and unable to pass on serve-receive.
  15. IMO, I think Molly would be a better blocking option next to Gabriel at M1. Gabriel will still have Micaya in the back row and Logan at the left pin for attacking options if Molly has trouble attacking on the slide (but so far this season, Molly actually adjusts pretty well to Jhenna's back sets from the attempts she has gotten).
  16. Agreed....always playing down to the competition. It's been awhile since I've seen a Texas team consistently dismantle opponents that they should without struggling.
  17. I can understand why she's not diving to get balls about to hit the floor (b/c of her stitches), but 7 hitting errors along with her service errors is bad.
  18. I'd like to see Molly playing in Asjia's spot. I just haven't seen Asjia producing well at M1...she's been having misconnections running the slide and is late/lost closing the blocks.
  19. Texas is terrible at picking up tips.
  20. I often thought Texas should run a sub where a blocking sub would come in for the setter in the front row and have Hahn set. They ran it with Molly coming in for Jhenna and then Hahn put up a great ball for Logan. And then Micaya ace served to end the set.
  21. Game is live on ESPNU. Texas service errors are keeping TCU in it.
  22. Probably Eggleston's worst game since she's been here.
  23. I hate how they play down to their opponent's level....
  24. Jhenna's setting is terrible this match. Everything has to go to the pins b/c of passing but she can't locate the ball for them.
