Just saw the Jomboy video of the UGA pitcher this morning. Will anything come of it?

Schlossnagle made a comment this week that the SEC is discussing having the umpires check pitchers between innings/when they enter from the bullpen like in the MLB.

He didn't sound sure if it was something they could put in place this year or starting next year.

He's either hiding an injury or someone needs to get his head right. Pitching is a mind game as much as it is raw talent and sheer amounts of work. Cody didn't get to UT and suddenly drop off because of his arm or he suddenly became inept at throwing the ball. For all the stereotypes of baseball guys being blue collar dufus sluggers, you don't get to this level without the ability to THINK within the game at the plate or on the mound.

He's another Tommy John guy. About 2 years removed.

His inability to throw strikes has seemingly come out of nowhere. Walked 4 in his first 16 innings this year. Walked 17 in his last 8 innings. Weird stuff.

Do any of the incoming freshman pitchers look to have impact in year 1? I know we have a top 3/top 5 level class but don’t know the individuals.

We signed 11 pitchers so the hope is there is. One (Sterling) is a major draft risk and another one (Flores) is probably a medium draft risk. Everyone else should make it.

Boehm vs Tolle for pitcher of the year will be interesting, especially if TCU stays in position to miss Arlington.

Tolle will probably win that award going away, regardless of how TCU finishes. OSU has a couple of starters who will also be in the discussion (Garcia and Holiday). Boehm probably won't have the pure numbers to contend with those guys but he could win reliever of the year (I think that is an award they do).

I think the point is that good teams lose games they shouldn’t occasionally.  Now, the good teams lose those less often.  And the great teams rarely lose them.  Youre likely to forget those losses when you’re sitting at the CWS.  And no I’m not saying we’re going to the CWS.

Losing to UTRGV in that manner was terrible and no one is pleased but losing to BYU was worse in the bigger picture.  Maybe UW too.  TAMUCC was a bad loss, but they won a series from Lamar.

There is more depth of talent than ever so with that you’ll run into teams that can beat you if they’re on.

Tuesday slip-ups can be absorbed if you bully the Q4 teams at home on the weekend when you get 3 shots at them. 4 of our 8 Q4 losses are to Washington and BYU. We win those two series, not even sweeps, just 2 of 3, and things look pretty different right now.

    After a likely regional exit.

It's likely that CDC already knows whether or not Pierce is his guy heading into the SEC. I don't believe he's really in "wait and see" mode on Pierce. I certainly could be wrong, but CDC has made it known he wants all programs set up to compete immediately.

Yep. There is nothing that says he has to return if he hits X goal. If you want to move on, you move on. We moved on from Herman after a 7-3 season where we ended the year with a bowl win and ranked in the top 20.

I agree that the decision has likely been made one way or another and the only way that changes is some extreme outcome (lose out, win the whole damn thing, etc).

  7. I was looking at stats this morning, and I'm surprised to see that Jared Thomas is one of our worst hitters in conference play average-wise (.274). Only two who are lower and have consistent AB's are Kennedy (.273) and Brown (.211).

If Thomas goes on a heater like he did to end last season we could be even more potent offensively.

A lot of people have written this team off and I do not blame them…..however…….they have won 6 out of 7 Big XII series so far and that is impressive no matter how ugly it has been.

If we had wins against A&M Corpus and UTRGV, the outlook would look pretty different. Just those two games alone.

It's what makes this season all the more frustrating. We see flashes and oftentimes it is after we backed ourselves into a corner.

If I'm oklahoma (after paying my sister her child support) I think I can win this game.....

I’m sure both teams are confident considering the pitching that has been trotted out there today
