Teams figured out after the first Georgia game that they could throw numbers at the LOS to disrupt the run game and pass pro. Part of that is due to no one fearing Quinn's legs. We also lacked the outside threat, Worthy last season and Bond prior to getting injured, to hurt teams that gambled like that.

You have to have a QB capable of hitting the outside threat on a 25+ yard pass consistently as well IMHO.

  2. He fumbled the ball in the SEC Championship game and almost fumbled the ball tonight.  He played so-so v. Georgia when he was thrown into the wolves.  So let me just say Let's go Trey Owens.  I know that the back up QB is the most popular player on the roster.

Seriously though - I think we can all agree whether you think he is better than Ewers or gives the team a better shot or not, he should have been in on a few more run plays against the elite competition when we could not run the ball much at all.

Looking forward to seeing what Arch can do next year.

While I don’t expect there will be an announcement of any sort, I am hearing that Will Stone is a very realistic possibility to take over at placekicker for Bert Auburn this week.

Stone has taken multiple reps with the first team unit on field goals during practices.

And no, that is not a common occurrence. In fact, it’s the first time that Stone has taken first team reps all year long.

  4. They truly believe their own bullshit based on the last two weeks.  I love the arrogance.  This is an exceptional defense that Texas will face.  No doubt about it.  But their ability to write off our defense is hysterical.  They are just a speed bump on the way for their steam train to run to the end zone over and over.  Game is going to be over by the second quarter.

I absolutely love the disdain being shown our defense going into this game.

Imagine the night that poor defender had. Watch the play and see.

I arrived to Spring when it was 2A and had lost every game the year before. That year, prior to my arrival, somone had stated that Spring would lose to Tomball (a power at the time) 28 points. The Spring coach at the pep rally declared that the Spring Lions would not lose by 28, by God! Spring lost by 44, so I guess he was right.

By the time I graduated, Spring was 3A and growing fast.

Except the kid goes to Klein, but glory days and whatnot.

And like the other poster said, you are Armybrat old.  I can say that as a fellow Spring High Graduate because I don't even recall Spring not being 4A/5A

If he transfers and plays better next year, that would be an indictment on Sark's offense and QB development. If Texas plays better with Arch and Quinn continues to play like how he has played since his injury, that should settle the argument (I hope but it's Surly so who knows?). That said, I wish the guy best of luck wherever he plays.

I just don't understand Sark's handling of Arch this year. The guy threw really well in the first two games he started and showed remarkable improvement on protecting the ball from game one to two, but then Sark doesn't want to let him throw the ball any more. I feel like this is hurting his development. I don't know if there was a better way to handle the two QBs but Sark's handling of the situation doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

His #1 concern is winning and not Arch's development.

He seems to be doing OK so far in that regard, but we shall see the rest of the way.

IMHO - I understand the delicate balance he has to maintain not to end up in a bigger QB controversy than exists in this thread, but I will never understand failing to play Manning more against Georgia when we were ineffective running the ball and they handled King so poorly the week before.

"With 3 pedestrian QBs leaving for the NFL this spring, Marcel Reed has a real shot at being a top 3 QB in the conference, if we ignore some other guys who are clearly more talented."

    Sellers

    DJ Lagway

    Taylen Green

    Nico I.

So he finishes ahead of all these guys, but two and the people with more talent that you ignore like Arch, Stockton, and whomever ends up running Ole Miss offense next year?

  8. Not that it matters, but I think it's the right thing to eat the delay of game and save the timeout.  Whether you are at the two yard line or the seven yard line with 12 seconds left, you get to run two plays.  Two passes into the endzone.  It does not matter as much if they come from the two yard line or seven.  Any run play is high, high risk even if you only need two yards.  So eat the delay because a tackle in bounds at any point needs the time out for the FG kick.

Atl D bailed out/fucked plenty of people across the country today.

Scored most points all year.  Standard scoring league.

Daniels, Henry, mixon, asb, puca, nabers/Sutton and lose this week to the fucking Atlanta defense and the Detroit kicker mostly.

I am officially done with all fantasy sports.

That was a time based decision during baseball season but this is just the icing on the cake.

He missed his chance to get drafted high. His stock went down, and if he returns (hopefully at another school) it will only drop more.

Disagree.  If he finishes these last three games strong and plays like he did against Michigan for most of them - he's going to get drafted in Round 2-3.    There is a staggering amount of incompetence at evaluating QB's at the GM level in the NFL.
