  1. Speaking of Aggy, Buzz Williams leaving them to go to Maryland is hilarious. Is he the new POS coach they can talk about. I guess Buzz isn't as bad because he didn't leave to go to tu. He would have if we had offered though, Aggy will not consider that.
  2. Texas State not exactly tearing things up since the glory days of being at Aggy.
  3. Antico "was" a redshirt senior because he is now out of eligibly and no longer on the team. Winfield "is" currently a sophomore on the Texas Baseball team. The quotation marks were used to denote the difference between the two in their first year on the team. It was Antico's only season on the team. The length that Winfield stays on the team is yet to be determined.
  4. The real difference between Antico and Winfield is that Antico was a "redshirt senior" and Winfield is a "sophomore." Looks like Duplantier may get a look if Winfield doesn't come around. Winfield tries to pull everything, even in his limited playing time, teams are using the extreme shift on him. I can't believe that Tulo hasn't worked with him about taking pitches the other way or bunting some too. This applies to Farmer too; the bunt being used and the whole field when batting being used. Freshman Rodriguez even just slapped a pitch the other way batting lefty for single. when that shift was used on him. That same shift is being used against Chamberlain, who will getting more time at catcher. Schloss talked about this with Chamberlain in that Orangebloods video. The same things I and others have talked about here.
  5. Just wait to Sean Miller opens his own BBQ joint in Austin. Be sure to get a side of his famous "Skyline Chili" also.
  6. What about Hall of Famer Nellie Fox and his "bottle bat" he made famous. His bat wasn't for power though. In his last few seasons in MLB, he helped Joe Morgan become a power hitter. Since little Nellie Fox thrived on singles and doubles, he couldn’t care less about whip action. He wanted to extend his bat’s “sweet spot” from the barrel as far down as possible, even to his knuckles if necessary, so if a pitcher fooled him with a slider or curve, or jammed him with a fastball, the part of the bat striking the ball was still thick enough to propel the ball through the infield for a hit. 1959 season [edit] Fox's best season came in 1959, when he received the AL Most Valuable Player award (not until Dustin Pedroia in 2008 would another American League second baseman receive such an honor) on a White Sox team that won its first AL pennant in 40 years. He batted .306, had an on-base percentage of .380, and led the AL in singles. He also started and had four hits in two All-Star games and won his second Gold Glove. The Al López-managed White Sox had the best record in baseball, going 94-60 to finish five games ahead of the Cleveland Indians and a surprising 15 ahead of the New York Yankees. It was one of just two seasons the Yankees did not win the pennant between 1949–1964. In the World Series, Fox batted a team-high .375 with three doubles, but the Sox lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers in six games. In Game 5, Fox scored the only run when Sherm Lollar hit into a double play in the fourth inning (this was only the second time that a World Series game did not have an RBI). It was Fox's only postseason experience, and the White Sox did not make it back to the World Series until they swept the 2005 World Series from the Houston Astros. Later career [edit] Fox played his final two seasons (1964–65) with the Houston Colt .45s and Astros. Joe Morgan later said that he looked up to Fox's example as a rookie with the Astros; Fox and Morgan were both diminutive second basemen. Morgan grew up hitting with a Nellie Fox model bat, which had a large barrel and large handle. With the Astros, Fox convinced Morgan to switch to a bat with a thin handle to leverage his power.[7]
  7. The whole thing looked pretty odd. He dove to make the catch, but his wrist came up and the glove was pointing straight down. He twisted his wrist I believe to try to keep the ball from falling out of his glove, which he accomplished. The umpire signaled the out and Belyeu got up and threw the ball back in. Then he took off his glove and was looking at his hand. I thought he had jammed his wrist. Then that female trainer goes out and examines his hand and seemed to be pressing on it with her thumb and asking him questions. He shook his head a few times and then she lets go of it and said something and Belyeu shook his head again. He said something like I'm ok and then trotted back to his position. He must be good to go I thought. Seems like with a broken thumb and torn ligaments maybe too, there would be a lot of pain if moved or especially pressed down on like that trainer was doing. Seems also like it would start to swell quickly too. But no, he goes back to right field and finishes the inning. Imagine if he had a broken thumb and had to make another dive on a play after that or just a fly ball hitting that thumb on a catch. The pain would be rough. Thankfully it didn't happen. Who knew it all went down this way if we had a microphone near the conversation with the trainer. She picks up his hand and presses different places and asks does this hurt. Yes, he says. What about here and here? Yes, and yes. Then she presses his thumb, and he says, Hell yes. She lets his hand go and Belyeu asks her what she thinks. She tells him I think you have a serious thumb injury. It could be broken and there could also be ligament damage. Either way it's going to require surgery. What are my options he asks her. She pauses and says, you can either stay in the game or go to the hospital now. He thinks about it and says, "I'm good," and heads back to right field. Sadly, now we know he made the wrong decision and succumbed to his injuries. Max, if you had only gone to the hospital instead, you would still be with us. RIP
  8. Texas is big on appearance. Belyeu didn't choke anybody or get drunk with Missouri coeds and miss the game. I would think they left him in a funeral home with a Texas flag draped coffin. They really should offer to pay to ship him home to his family for a proper burial. Maybe they will send DDA to the funeral for a last "Texas Fight" cheer too.
  9. Belyeu is day-to-day but needs surgery. He has a fractured thumb and out for the season. He has ligament damage and a fractured thumb and out for the season. Getting to the point that he is either day- to- day or on his death bed.
  10. Where are these hamate bone rumors coming from?
  11. Only thing I can think of is something that might have happened in batting practice or infield practice before the game. Something had to happen to him. Rodriguez never showed any pain that I saw.
  12. I just posed the question about the injuries in a live OTF chat that just ended. Bobby said Belyeu was x-rayed, but they haven't heard any results. He said they didn't have any information yet on Galvan or Rodriguez. Going to have to wait to tomorrow it seems for any real information.
  13. He got hurt in his only at bat of the series, which was Friday as the DH. During this at bat, he was jammed by a pitch and the ball hit the bat and his hand, for a foul ball. There wasn't a lot of reaction from it at the time. Then he struck out, he returned to the dugout and never came back for that game or the rest of the series.

  16. Flat line and DOA from the beginning, like on an ECG heart monitor. When you're dead you're dead.

  18. Nothing worse than Aggy totally scorned. Earley didn't even get the usual roller coaster honeymoon because there was no rollercoaster, just a flat line. This after the #1 ranking had them all having wet dreams about revenge over that former coach, by winning it all. Aggy was DOA from the beginning and so will be Earley when the season ends.
  19. Hope the stream stays around to see what happens between the coaches after the game. That could be fun.
  20. Kentucky isn't that good; they can hit some. Every game they get out to a big lead. Then comes their bullpen which is questionable at best. First game they couldn't hold it and lost; this was a blow for keeping them tied for last place with Missouri. Yesterday they hung on for dear life and won. Today, more of the same 8-2 lead in the seventh, the pen falters. Aggies got three in the seventh and it's 8-5 in the 8th. Kentucky trying to hang on. Aggy will have to squeeze and do all the yells and hand jesters. If they want any chance to tie or somehow finish behind Missouri for last place in the SEC. It's a big ask, but with the great Aggy tradition and the 12th man behind them, maybe they can pull it off. As I type this Kentucky is widening their lead, very red ass as only Aggy spirit can do. Mark your calendars for when these two titans of the diamond meet in College Station for a SEC series to maybe decide it all for last place. Missouri vs Aggy starting on May 9. Whoop!
  21. They can put one of those thumb guards on it, if it isn't too bad. Maybe Schloss will address it on that youtube video he does every Monday for Orangebloods.
