  1. Going to need a big swing from someone tonight
  2. Cade at least consistently finds the strike zone
  3. Long way to go but he is close to being on pace for Ricky's modern day record of 130
  4. Playing time is often based on necessity and what is available. I think even you agree that Borba should be playing everyday with the occasional breather. He actually hits right handed pitching better than left handed pitching because his biggest weakness as a hitter is soft offspeed stuff off the plate from a lefty. So you can't just platoon him. You keep bringing Borba's average up when he has 72 ABs. Comparing him to a 6th year Senior with 728 ABs struggling through his swan song is not remotely just. It isn't worth arguing over but I don't think it is a hot take to say Borba should be playing everyday while Porter and Jack rotate in every once in awhile off the bench. Pitching and hitting aren't comparable. Hurley is a sinker baller who has not gotten a ton of batted ball luck this year. Charlie started today because Ace is hurt not because he did anything to earn it and that point is applicable to the point I am making about Borba. Will we need Porter in the postseason? Probably. Will we need Jack? No, it is just unfortunate that Casey or Porter can't play 2B.
  5. A&M still alive in the west
  6. If you are dealing with a pool of underclassmen I would agree. Porter is an uncompetitive 6th year senior, Jack is an uncompetitive 4th year Senior. You give the dominant playing time to the young Freshman that can grow. 3/20 is irrelevant to me, that is close to 27% of his career ABs and as I mentioned earlier if you go back to when he started getting consistent playing time. It is now 10/33. He should be playing everyday and Jack and Porter should be mature enough to handle pinch hitting off the bench. There jobs were not stolen from them, their futility gave them away. Jack is going to play because you have no choice. Porter should be on the pine except for the occasional pinch hit AB late in a game
  7. Arkansas and A&M playing a good one, tied 0-0 bottom 10
  8. There is more context to it than that and we can break down every AB if you’d like. You can manipulate numbers anyway you like. If you go back to the TCU series which is when he started getting consistent playing time he was 9/32, now 10/33 with 4 walks and 8 strikeouts. Difference between striking out in a 9 pitch at bat and getting mowed down in less than 4 pitches. O’Dowd does a lot of the latter and Porter is a box of chocolates, neither of which should be the case for two Seniors
  9. Pretty much Pierce teams to a T. Also exhibit a as to why Borba should be in the lineup every game. Even when he isn’t getting hits he never looks lost or whipped at the plate.
  10. Gage needed that as much as the team
  11. The thing with the lefties that is so frustrating is why Lummus. At best, the 3 lefties we have are situational left on left guys. Of the 3, Shaw has the best stuff out of the 3 and he should be the first lefty out of the pen if that is the route you choose to go
  12. Awful slider and we will take it
  13. Looks like it it will be straight to Lummus
  14. Should hopefully be straight to Gage
  15. Platooning Jack and Dee is understandable. There is little reason for Porter to be playing LF and pushing Casey Borba to the bench
  16. It does not, yet. The only thing that matters right now is Kansas. Win the series against Kansas and Texas is a 2 seed come tournament time regardless of whether they go 0-2 in Arlington or win the tournament. Lose the series or get swept and then the tournament becomes more important because you made it matter, not because it inherently matters. So I agree that by the end of this coming Saturday the tournament could matter. Maybe it’s just me, but I’m not running out an already banged up Ace Whitehead to try and win a tournament championship that has little to no effect on where Texas gets sent. If we win it because other arms stepped up, great. As far as where we get sent? Where the 2-4 seeds in regionals get sent is often a numbers game with how many regionals there are in a specific region relative to how many teams qualify for the tournament in that region. For example their are only 7 teams on the west coast in the RPI top 70 yet their is a scenario where they could get two regional hosts which means a few teams would have to get sent out there to fill those regionals. Or if they only get one regional then some of those west coast schools are getting shipped out. Especially given the fact that UC Santa Barbara and UC Irvine play in the same conference, as well as Oregon State, Arizona, and Oregon.
  17. The odds of catching a foul ball are slim to none, the odds of catching 2 have to be close to impossible. The odds of catching 2 on back to back pitches...
  18. It often doesn’t matter. Having to worry about playing one less game and getting an opportunity to rest some of the arms that have carried this team would be a win/win
  19. It could mean something or it may mean nothing but it is note worthy that Tulo wasn’t just in the dugout but he accompanied the team on their furthest road trip of the season. I think it is safe to assume Phillip Miller is done at Texas and I wonder what the conversations between Tulo and Pierce have been behind closed doors. AHC tag next year? A lot of moving parts left to be decided before that bridge is crossed but I don’t think he moved back into the dugout for fun because he was bored
  20. It’s not necessarily bad it just doesn’t have a flag bearer. Usually the Big 12 produces one team you believe has a shot to win it all. It’s still the 3rd best conference RPI wise which is no different than pretty much every other year Even all the way down at 10th in the standings, Tech still has a respectable 30-22 overall record. Big 12 isn’t used to cannibalizing their overall records like they did this year. Big 12 has 10/13 in the RPI top 70 ACC has 11/14 in the RPI top 70, they just have more that have rose to the top
  21. Texas is now tied for 3rd in the country with a few other teams at 12 Q1 wins. Probably a safe 2 seed barring a collapse at home next weekend and a shitty showing in Arlington
