  1. Great 2nd UIL Season.  I was able to take my teams up to play some strong Dallas area squads in a pre-season tournament, and that really set the tone for a deep playoff  run.

Some local High Schools are starting to find some kids from other sports (basketball, softball, etc) who are able to contribute in the pool so more kids are getting exposed to the sport.

State Tournament was held here in SA yesterday.

Richmond Foster repeats as Girls State Champ defeating Southlake Carroll in the Final

Boerne Champion Boys finished 2nd again this year losing in the final to Lewisville Marcus

  2. 2005. Got a little drunk before scalping tickets and misread them. Ended up right above the tunnel entrance in OU territory.  It was glorious.

Suck it up and enjoy the game.

  3. Mavericks at Floore this Saturday. I've never seen them live so I'm looking forward to it. Plus it's Floore's, so venue always adds a good vibe.

I haven't pulled the trigger on tickets, but will probably go see Drive By Truckers at Aztec in November.  I liked General Admission Aztec last time I was there so I think it might be a good venue for them.

  4. Man... I love the Alamodome.  But my seats are pretty good, and I don't have a problem just keeping my beer in hand.  I was bummed that I had to give my tickets away yesterday because I knew it would be a good game with a good crowd.  I still haven't been able to get to San Marcos for a game, but would love to some time.

I'm pulling for Texas State.  I would love for these games to stay competitive.  Best of luck the rest of the season.

GJ Kinne may possibly be the truth, TJ Finley for Heisman, what a time to be a Bobcat fan. Looking forward to finally getting the nUTSAck monkey off our back next week and make a Traylor wish he had left SA earlier.

    Same time next year......?

If you're making $15/hr, I'm not tipping 20%.  I tip well here because servers make $2.31/hr and the tips are what they're really working for.  At $15/hr, you're getting paid a normal wage (like the euro model).  I may add a supplement if you've done great, but for normal service they've already been paid.

Why do you care what someone is making?  Jesus.  Just tip what you think they deserve based on service.

anyone tried el monte bbq on bandera yet?

Been wanting to check it out. Right by my parents so I just need to swing by.  There was an article in Sunday food section describing it as South Texas Style.

  8. Test was Thursday and got results today.  Score of 2 so great news and much better than I was expecting given the results both my brothers got within the past few months.  I'm wondering if scores can get worse exponentially based on age.

I'm 53.  My 61 year old brother scored around 400 and got a stent put in(he's the reason we all decided to get the test), and my 64 year old brother scored much worse and is going through the steps to figure out what they will need to do.

I'll certainly be talking to my doctor about what I need to do to try to stay where I'm at given our genetics and family history. Of course, I know a few things I can start doing differently.

I'm going to be recommending this to many more of my friends.

I started 2 Water Polo programs back in the day.. Boys and girls team at Cy Ridge and then in Dallas at Lake Highlands.. it was extremelly difficult being a rookie program and playing the OGs.. we took our licks for sure.. but man was it great for the kids and even better for my swim program.. glad its taking hold in Texas..

It's amazing the number of teams that are playing compared to when I was playing many years ago.

I knew exactly who this was without having to look it up.. LOL

Yeah, when the job opened up and I heard someone was coming from outside the area, I figured he might be ready for one last stop before retirement.  Not a bad place to do it.  Great situation.  They are building a new pool for the high schools next year.

  12. UIL Season 2 first day of practice was today.  My teams will start tomorrow since I (and many of my players) were up in Dallas for Junior Olympics Session 3.  North Dallas did a great job with JO's as usual.  I spent most of my time in Lewisville but there were games at Carroll, Keller, SMU, Jesuit, and Garland among others.

I don't have a real feel for other Regions, but Boerne Champion boys in Region 4 should come out easily.  Honestly, they are stacked and really should win State after getting second last year.  They have a new coach who moved up from Houston and has won multiple State titles.
