I don’t think we are either. Looking at his list of suitors, who reasonably is going to make Fong move off his CB? Miami’s NIL is a dirty diaper doused in gasoline, and I am expected to take Michigan Stste seriously? I guess you can’t discount Oregon, but Bradenton to Eugene and the big 10 games is a hell of a distance. So maybe hometown Florida? Dunno man.

    Stone is from Oklahoma.

Yeah, he’s a hometown kid. He’s going to OU, but they are sweating it hard. I have former co-workers and some in-laws who live up there. They’re already catatonic over the Nwaneri loss. They’re convinced right now that Stone is one decent NIL deal away from gone. It’s a lot of fun to watch. I think we should make a run at him just to see their reaction and drive up his price.

Without having seen an NIL contract, this is most likely the only structure that could plausibly work:  down payment at the time of commitment with obligations to make physical appearances in Columbia that coincide with enrollment dates and milestones in the first year that would be impractical to fulfill if the player isn’t a student.  If the player cannot or will not make those appearances, all or a portion of the down payment would be repaid.

Even this is still a flimsy foundation because  as others have mentioned, anything tied to enrollment or on field performance is inducement and against current NIL rules.  This would land the actual university in hot water.  Regardless of what the legislature implemented, I don’t think Mizzou would want to see where that path leads.

This is also important.  Two parties can put anything on paper, but some things just aren’t going to be enforceable.

And yes, nothing would stop a player from switching schools and using new NIL money to pay off any existing contractual obligations.  It seems like Mizzou is banking on inertia; that once a player and their family is paid and settled in to the idea of attending in the winter, they won’t want to go through the hassle of changing schools and having to pay anything back.

Caveat that this is all spitballing and conjecture.  Would be curious to look at these contracts to see how they’re structured.

EDIT:  And this assumes that everyone is behaving in good faith.  I’m sure these Missouri lawyers and boosters would never imply faulty legal conclusions or make official-sounding threats.  If there is one thing you can say about lawyers, you can say that they don’t push frivolous arguments.

Does the age of the party impact enforceability in these contracts? Let’s just say I know people who have a ton of Columbia House invoices from their middle school years that never got paid.

Since this video was posted, I have spent every moment - 13 hours and 21 minutes - watching it on a loop, and occasionally singing and reenacting Ms. Murphy's most eye-opening highlight moments.

The family took a change of clothes and moved the neighbor's.

The pets have begun eyeing me suspiciously.  Growling, snarling, and darting in for a quick bite or two.

    Will keep you updated.

I forced myself to watch it once. It was more like a challenge just to see if I could get through it. It took two attempts, but I did it, and now I hate myself for it. And I hate myself for laughing uncontrollably as she did her ninja chops in that poor Asian girl’s face. You bastards are a bad influence.

Yeah getting over the hump can sometimes take a little while.  Some folks act like Saban has always been a "big winner"

And that was without being drunk AF for months at a time. Pete Carroll was a bum prior to USC.

The answer is, sometimes throw it behind those crashing safeties.  Or at least seems to be. And if they aren’t coming downhill, bad play. It happens.

A good QB who understands and executes RPO is a good counter, but there’s a lot of pre and post snap chess required that our QBs haven’t recently had the experience to play.

Of course, an experienced, bulldozing, massive OL is also a good counter. Haven’t had that in a while, either.

One of the aspects of Bama under  OC Sark was that there were multiple receivers wide open on so many plays. It seems reasonable to think we may see that this season. With decent protection from the OL and accurate throws from QB we should have an offense that scores more than last season. Rush 3 and drop 8, and we'll run all over you; stack the box to  stop the runs, and we'll have at least two receivers free. It could happen.

I imagine this, or something in the same vein, will be the approach deployed against Texas early in the year. Everyone knows they can pass block and have a stacked group of pass catchers. Don’t play into their strengths, play a lot of dime dropping 7-8, and make them consistently execute down the field.

They’ve struggled with the “run all over you” answer to that despite having two freak, NFL RBs. Bijan and RoJo aren’t walking through that door so the OL is going to have to improve big time in the ground game to make that happen. There are reasons for optimism - another year of physical maturity across the board, inserting Campbell and removing the weakest link in Hutson - but the baseline they’re starting from with regard to run blocking is actually pretty low and it’s not at all a given they’ll be able to do that consistently.

Barry Odom kind of provided the blue print with his blitz-heavy packages from “drop 8” looks, which suggest to the QB that the run will be there, only to have safeties crash into the run lanes at the snap. Sark hasn’t had an answer for it.

This is a huge commitment for a number of reasons, including that going forward LSU knows that they aren't going to win recruitments in Texas that Texas is all-in on.

They can get fucked all the way back to Harvey Williams thru Kary Vincent's bullshit and Ben Wilkerson and K'Lavon Chaisson and Jamal Adams and Harold Perkins and on and on and on. Get the fuck out of Texas and feel free to look east to Georgia and Florida to fill out your roster.

Girls who have kids and are gainfully employed read this board and donate too.

I have no doubt of that. My post wasn’t targeted at women because most of them are more productive with their time than men, and/or they waste their time on Pinterest or other garbage sites and aren’t going to donate to TexasOne, anyway. But if you felt left out, I apologize.

  9. Some of y’all have taken a long time to contribute to TexasOne. I’m glad more people are pitching in. I’m a little shocked there hasn’t been more participation prior to now. I’m extremely grateful to the guys who set it up. That was the hard part. Twenty bucks a month should be easy.

Anyone who’s gainfully employed and has time to waste on this board clearly has enough money at his disposal that he ain’t worried about his next meal or his kids’ education. That guy needs to donate. Otherwise, go make some more money and get the fuck outta here until you are no longer poor and can donate. Drive an Uber or something. Fuck. Do something productive with your phone. Surly and porn don’t count.

Until we can stop back up and 3rd string qbs. Anyone Bama rolls out under center is a threat

We did ok with the backups OU rolled out last year. I’m sure Bama’s QB room is an upgrade from that, but it might not be a big upgrade.

For that game, and maybe that game only, maybe move Sorrell to Buck and put Bledsoe or Collins at Jack. Hill and Burke as situational pass rushers. Stop the run because they're not going to be throwing on us.

This. Reese is going to run the ball. He won’t be able to throw it. I’m expecting a QB running package, too, with Milroe.
