  1. Hopefully going to NYC Saturday to join their picket line (they officially strike at midnight). We join WGA's when we can too. #1U
  2. I ended up buying the Recreq Bullseye today. The grates look lame - any recs for porcelain stainless steel ones?
  3. I don’t own any jeans. I have no idea why they’re popular. I dislike them.
  4. We had saddles on pump jacks and would ride them all the time. Boredom reigned supreme in ET. I was attacked by fire ants while taking a nap next to the smoker one morning. That sounds pretty unique. Had to go to the hospital due to the swelling, they estimated 45 bites on my legs. Fuck those things Lost my virginity under the bleachers of the HS stadium in 11th grade. That’s maybe more just a football state thing than Texas thing though Chased by a bull when trying to borrow a tractor to get a friend’s truck unstuck from the Sabine River bed.
  5. When I was ~10 my family and I were on an Alaskan cruise. One night before dinner I was wandering around with my dad and we went to the aft to watch for whales. A deck below was a woman in black, the captain, and some other people who I assume were family. She held an urn. She opened it up and threw it overboard … unfortunately for her the ship was barely moving and it was windy and well the husband blew back on deck and all over her. My dad had to explain to me what was happening and he couldn’t do so without laughing. It was amazing. Now they have disposable urns.
  6. All credit to the Northwestern student journalists. NU tried o sweep this under the rug, they lit it on fire. Major kudos.
  7. He's 4-20 the last two seasons. He'll resign and keep a good bit of his salary and the president will clean house and the AD likely (who is only there for 2 years) will be toast.
  8. This involves athletes and he was what, 1-11, last year and 3-9 the year before? He’ll be out of a P5 job for a long while I think.
  9. Pat very well might be done. This is insane https://dailynorthwestern.com/2023/07/08/top-stories/former-nu-football-player-details-hazing-allegations-after-coach-suspension/
  10. D’field fielded the best HS football team of all time. I fully expect Mr. Hampton to be the best CFB WR of all time. Hook ‘em.
  11. Seeking advice. I am sick of dealing with 1 lb propane canisters (they’re impossible to dispose of where I live). I have a unique situation where I live and have to move my grill from my detached garage (where it is kept) up two steps to another step that’s like 36”x36” - this is where my grill (currently a Weber Q 1200) sits when I grill. I then move back into my garage when done and it’s cooled down. I grill wayyyyyyyy more than smoke anything and never do long, long overnight smokes. However I despite not smoking a ton still am sold on a portable pellet grill. I’d do a Weber 18’ kettle but a) I am lazy, b) have poor vision so charcoal is tough for me to sometimes see if lit and c) it takes so long to cool down I couldn’t move back into my garage that evening probably and it’d likely walk away. City livin’ … Which of these should I grab? Price is pretty irrelevant. GMG Trek (I’m kinda sold on it) … https://greenmountaingrills.com/products/grills/prime/trek/ Camp Chef Pursuit https://www.campchef.com/shop/grills-and-smokers/grills/portable-grills/portable/CC-Pellet-Grills-and-Smokers-Portable.html Pit Boss Mahagoney (I’ve heard terrible customer service stories recently about PB so leery) https://pitboss-grills.com/grills/portables/pit-boss-mahogany-series-150pps-tabletop-wood-pellet-grill
  12. There are 537 individual fires coast to coast in the 2nd biggest country on earth that have burned 9 million hectares and they’re all in areas without roads or people. But yes let’s pretend America could do better. The Canadian fires are child’s play compared to what Canada is facing I can’t see across the one mile river I live on due to smoke and being outside more than 30 minutes leads to eye irritation and coughing it’s fucking brutal and won’t get better until winter since it never really rains anymore. We have a cabin in Canada and can’t visit because it is likely to burn to the ground
  13. 100 percent businesses will now go full scorched earth and refuse to work with Muslims, Catholics, Jews, etc. Some will refuse Blacks entry and cite that decision.
  14. I think the finale was my least favorite episode of S2, oddly. Something didn't feel right to me, but it might just be because of all the characters I actually care least about Carmy.
  15. The jury pool is ruby red as can be. They'll absolutely believe him.
  16. Rumors they’ll be in Philly, which is wayyyy past due. It’s the best food city in the country now.
  17. The crowd that attend this is very similar to ones that attend Jeep Weekend on Bolivar Peninsula so Godspeed.
  18. Ha fair sorry. I’m not a praying type but prayers up to everyone of y’all and more importantly to ERCOT to not shit the bed.
  19. Thankfully my high will be 80 as I moved away years and years ago
  20. Dallas might take a close run to 110 Wednesday.
  21. It's pouring rain and I'm in my home office on a muted call. Mrs. Ace walked in a few minutes ago and asked me, "It's raining. Should I wait to start the washing machine until it's done?" I turned around to ask her what the hell she was talking about and I before I could open my mouth ... she's gone and I now hear her making lunch.
  22. His mom’s pics of the weekend are incredible. Texas puts on a hell of an official weekend show.
  23. Brilliant. Back to form after French Dispatch and Isle of Dogs. Going to have to rewatch to pick up on so many subtle things.
  24. One of the more beautiful cities in the world, absolutely.
