Texas Tech game will be an 11:00a kickoff on ABC.  Long-term forecast has high of 90 that day, so should make for a rather pleasant tailgate and first half anyway.  Second half will be ruined by high sun heat and our offensive line.

Good. 11 am in Austin is not a recipe for Tech success.

I am well aware of the history, I was referring to time since they left the SWC and became SEC good, or rather, just played us non conference.  I was going for the pent up hate spilling over angle.  Probably more just timing and match ups issues, kind of like BYU, ugh.

Yeah - I get that. I think you have to examine those games in a fuller context, though. Mack had some zinger bowl games early on - including that pig Cotton bowl loss and the 03 loss to a meh Wazzu team. The 03 team was talented but not great - they got shellacked by OU later that year. Not sure they should have lost to pig at home but they did. A very good Texas team got it back the next year but I wouldn't call the 04 team elite. They squeaked by Kansas and okie lite and got shutout by OU.

08 is self explanatory - but that ass whipping definitely counts.

And then the two since - yeah - it is what it is. I think once we get back to playing them every year we should settle in again. But it's still a rivalry game and a sometimes unpredictable one at that.

But it, along with a whole slew of other Arkansas games over the years, does show a pattern where all but the most elite Texas teams get hammered by the Hogs.

    Lol. Okay.

They weren't so hot when we were playing them every year. The last 2 meetings they've won were against Charlie in a bowl game and against a new head coach and new QB in their 2nd game and first road game. Maybe they're benefitting from catching us less often and letting the pent up hate spill over but they sure as shit don't have a history of having our number. It's pretty much the opposite.

I mean they are tied with Holland for the group as we speak (4 games remaining) and have to be a massive favorites to finish at least 2nd in the group and that will get them into the playoffs with a couple of random Nations League teams. I think there is a very real chance they make the 22 WC. Even if they fail to qualify they will still be participating in all of friendlies leading up to the WC and missing out on like 3 total caps for not making it.

Ronaldo has 180 Caps and only 44 occured in the WC, Euro's, and Confederations Cup and scored in 61.6% of his cap. Halland while still very early is scoring in 80% of his caps for Norway and is by far a biger feature up top than Ronaldo who had a lot of capable help around him.

Yeah the WC isn't a ton of games and they are tough games to score in at that.

The thing about Ronaldo is I'm pretty sure his goals to games ratio is actually higher since he turned 30. That is the type of production that Haaland is going to match.

It's not impossible but I think it's a bit premature to discuss. Ronaldo is still chugging along.

I obviously saw this on Saturday in the game thread but I just put it together that the dickhead on the left is wearing the same shirt. They are wearing matching Texas isn't back shirts to the Colorado game.

    Just...

Nah. Not sure when the peak was but I'd probably say the Farley years. It was pretty funny through the 2000s and I think really fell off after that. Bill Hader leaving in 2013 kind of did it for me.

The "peak years" might align more with people's ages but I hope no one 30 or under finds whatever garbage they are rolling out these days funny.

Too bad I had him on my fantasy bench this week.

This is so great on so many levels. The idea that pregrame the trainer would tell them to be something that is impossible to "be" all of a sudden.

Piggy was 3-7 last year and tied with Rice through three quarters week one and at no point did we look like we belonged on that field with them. Stop shrugging off how bad that was.

Losing all the winnable games is unlikely, but y’all honestly think we’re so much better than any non-rice/Kansas team on our schedule that we can’t lose? Like I said, I see 5-7 as most likely.

I'm not sure you understand how easy winning 5 games at Texas is. Especially for what is on paper the most competent staff we've had in over a decade. If you think players aren't getting blasted for that game and coaches aren't burning it at both ends watching film I don't know what to tell you. I'm also not sure why you think anyone in this conference is worth a shit or any better than us through 2 games. TCU edged Cal last week. At home. ISU got boned by Iowa again. At home. Baylor beat Texas State by 9 week one. Kansas is a fucking joke. We get Tech and K State both at home this year and neither of them should beat us. WVU lost to Maryland week one. Okie Lite is always beatable.

Unplug the toaster and maybe get some fresh air. I doubt we win 10 games but fuck man we aren't losing 8 or 9. Texas hasn't done that in 65 years.

I’ve become more of a “watch them on TV” guy, but I was there last night. Receivers were breaking open and Card was not delivering the ball to them. It happened a bunch. You can’t see that stuff on TV. He looked really timid.

Thanks. Just statistically - it doesn't make sense for the plays where he missed Whit and Worthy/Moore to be the ONLY plays they were open. That would be an incredible coincidence.

Well, out of 18 completed passes, only 3 actual WR had catches and only 2 of them more than one.  Whittington balled out probably simply by virtue of athleticism that was better matched by pig.

It is hard to evaluate on TV, but I did see what appeared to be a lot of slow, lazy, meandering routes run that didn't get much separation and I imagine Card is still at that stage where he needs to see some daylight before making a throw.

Right. I'm sure the truth lies somewhere in the middle.

But - we knew the OL was going to be poor and we knew the WR room was thin. If we're going to make it about coaching I think there are other areas that are more concerning. (Not that I'm super concerned yet but the Arkansas game wasn't exactly a clinic)
