I will not say the field was tougher in the Jack era, but what I will say is this. If you were paying attention, Phil despite being older, never beat Tiger. He only won Majors when Tiger was either injured or fiddling with his swing. Trevino and Jack are the same age. Trevino had to go through Jack. Jack was 2nd in the 68 US Open, 2nd in the 1971 US Open, 5th in the 1971 Open, 2nd in the 1972 Open, and 2nd in the 1974 PGA. All to Lee Trevino. Gary Player was the runner up when Trevino won his last major at the 1984 PGA.

Basically what I was getting at. To win anything you typically had to knock a big dog off of the top (if not multiple). In the 2000s unless it was Tiger then there weren't a ton of guys that you were constantly battling to try and scratch out wins.

Maybe they won more because the field was weaker or maybe they won more because they were better golfers. I think both statements hold some weight.

I am in a glass case of emotions right now.

I feel like these two teams are going to run reach other too hot all the way to October, and then the Brewers will get to the WS.

    Amazing.

  3. This whole Osaka thing is bizarre. I'm plenty sympathetic to mental health issues but if you're going to be a professional athlete you need to, you know, be a professional. She comes across as if she thinks she is terminally unique and not culpable for anything because of some nebulous issue.

Typically you need to be willing to help yourself before others are willing to help you. If playing tennis is too much for her then she needs to take a serious break. If being away from the game is more painful then she needs to learn how to navigate it better. The circus she is putting on is ridiculous and a disservice to her peers.

How many times do people have to tell y'all that he talks shit about Texas to anyone who will listen? And if you haven't somehow missed this fact which has been posted here dozens of times, why is it difficult to understand Texas fans rooting against him?

Him talking shit about Texas doesn't erase his career here. The way people try and give him zero credit for anything that he accomplished is ridiculous and entitled.

It’s North Carolina….   What he’s done with the program from where it was is pretty impressive.  He said we were obviously overrated in his press conference.  I don’t get the hate for him still from a lot of y’all?  I understand the end wasn’t good but let’s just imagine for a second the situation of the program without him and hiring someone like Tom Herman back then?

The Mack hate is cultish here. I'm not his biggest fan but the revisionism gets silly sometimes. He brought us our first tile in 35 years - all with his own players. Vince was amazing but he didn't win that title by himself. He had 21 other bad motherfuckers around him that Mack got to campus. And then the next guy didn't do anything under Mack but win 46 games, beat OU three times, win a BCS bowl and B12 title and play for a national championship.

We don't need to erase his legacy because he was cunty on the way out and began our desert wandering. He presided over the 2nd greatest decade in Texas history. Texas isn't some magical job where every coach succeeds - Mack's predecessors and successors prove that.
