Has anyone asked about bringing back the Torchlight parade. Always looked forward to attending leading up to the big game...

City of Dallas shut it down when it started turning into Eastern-bloc level rioting

NVM thought you were talking about Commerce

    Quote

Until 1992, though, it was all about Commerce Street.

That year, a fatal shooting of a 19-year-old after an argument over a traffic accident, coupled with an assault on a police officer, changed things on the eve of OU-Texas.

Before, fans walked up and down Commerce Street freely chugging from open containers of alcohol and yelling taunts at whoever wore the other team's colors. Fights weren't an uncommon occurrence.

But the year after the shooting, Dallas police blocked Commerce Street to pedestrian traffic and flooded the area with a heavy police presence, sending 900 officers into the area.

In 1994, 500 officers patrolled the area.

I don't mind the trash talk.  It's just the complete idiocy that annoys me.  If VY's knee was down, it simply would've taken us longer to score that late 1st half TD and they wouldn't have had to time to kick a FG after.  It would've helped us, morons.

Just re-watched the game a couple of weeks ago. I think it was the SC drive right after that where an interception call was missed that we came down with. Probably why SC doesn't bring it up much.

Oh - also because their team was retroactively stripped from even playing in that game.

I thought the line of OU -7.5 was a gross overreaction to last Saturday's games and meant to entice $ to come in on the Texas side. The line should be OU -4.5, which is in line with the winning margin of the last 3 games.

OU's schedule has been markedly easier to date. Best win is probably 1-3 Iowa State? Their 3 Power 5 wins are against 0-4 UCLA who is terrible, Iowa State, and Baylor. They haven't seen team speed and athleticism to what they will see from Texas on Saturday. I'd set the O/U on points by the winning team at 28 and the only way it gets significantly above that number is if there are a rash of turnovers to one side.

Speaking of turnovers, the team that does +2 or better will win the game. Here's the thing though. Neither team has created many (TX has the advantage here 7 to 5) nor have they given many up (OU has been better - 3 vs TX 5). Both are at +2 for the season which means that turnovers have not been a big part of the story. (Best in the country  KU at +12...and they still suck). I would not expect turnovers to be a big part of the story on Saturday either.

Special teams may be the decider. OU's has been about average, while TX has had a much higher beta. Punting may be the big story here. OU is average at about 40 net, but TX is near the bottom at 33 net. 7 yards of field position could be big in this game and the punting game has cost Texas points from field position in every game. Forget Kyler Murray. If Texas doesn't do better at this part of the game, it may end up being the biggest factor. The Texas staff should spend extra time this week on it because this is a big issue. Be helpful if Dicker the kicker doesnt shank a kick or 2 either. Can't lose 3 to 6 points from this.

Getting off the field on 3rd down will be key as well. OU's defense is 99th in this metric at 42.4%, Texas is better at 34.6%.On the flip side, OU converts at almost 55%, which is 7th in the country, while Texas is near the NCAA average at 41.3%, right there with the Domers and LS-Youuuuuuuuu. Sustaining drives will be key for Texas and OU's defense isn't particularly adept at stopping 3rd downs.

I expect a tight one score game if the teams play to what I expect. 50/50 on this one as to who wins.

I agree. It's a coin-flip. OU by a TD might happen - it might not. -7.5 is insane for this game with both teams ranked, I don't give a shit who is ranked what.

That’s why they are fake media. They take things way to personal. I’m not sure I’ve ever heard them say negative things about a current head aggy coach. They use all that up on Texas coaching staff. What was it that Billy used to call Charilie? I know it had racial undertones. Now he’s calling Herman “Coach KISS.” Seems like a professional member of the member.

I like that. Coach Kiss. Can we make it Coach Kiss My Ass?

Put another way,  they have 1 division win at home since JFF's departure six years ago.

In Mack Brown's last season that led him to RESIGN Texas won 3 B12 games at home not including the neutral site victory over OU.

But yeah - sounds like the SEC is working out great, aggy.

I’ll admit it in bitch mode. We struggle with running QBs and midget fuck can run. I’d love to see Johnson or jones lay the fucking lumber on him one time to make him second guess. Ring his bell make him dizzy wtf ever.  I think we can cover their wrs. But if Hager flies up field and midget takes off with his pussy ass base ball slides it’s a long day. Maybe Johnson says fuck it one time on the slide and bloodies his face like Maryland who knows. But I worry about running QBs   And that one douchebag WR

GJ too important to get sent off for a targeting. That's what freshmen are for.

Ha. Not according to Billy. He called TCU a really crappy team. It seemed like at one point he was about to say that TCU is worse than Arkansas, then said maybe not Arkansas. They actually talked about how Arkansas is playing really hard which counts for something. The funniest part of the interview was Billy claimed to know what’s going on inside the Texas program and that the players hate Herman and there is real problems inside the locker room. Give it a fucking rest Billy. The fact that your doing this whole media misinformation crap against your big brother is tiresome.

I don't give a fuck if the players like toppings on their ice cream sundaes or not as long as we keep winning games.

And you know what usually happens when you win games? Problems magically disappear in the locker room. Not that that is something aggy is familiar with.

Adidas man is making damn sure to bring Nike and Under Armour into this.

This is going to end up being huge if multibillion dollar companies start taking shots at each other. Which sucks - universities have much more to lose on this than Nike or Adidas does.
