Are you thinning your peach trees? I have spent the last week stripping like 75% of the fruit buds based on my internet research. Internet says peaches need to be like minimum of 6-8 inches apart to promote larger fruit growth.

Not yet but considering it.  I'm pretty sure I have too many.  I pruned it when the flowers were in bloom to remove some already but the set fruit is very dense and would probably break branches.

So you're saying that we should all thank the crappy football team for making us the assholes we are?  What happens if the team gets good again do we stop being assholes?

There is no causation nor correlation.

Started Keto in early January. Down 25 pounds so far. Almost back under 200. I really need to hold back on my liquor drinking, but drinkin sure is fun.

I've found it's not the liquor it's the mixer.

    Paloma instead of Margarita
Gin/Vodka and soda instead of tonic
Bourbon neat instead of Old Fashioned

Hope this crop makes it.  I've lost every peach the last couple years.  No damage found on the fruit yet.  I've been more aggressive with the orchard sprays this year.

I’ve got a Sony 65” tv hooked up to a Pioneer VSX 1020 hooked up to a pair of Polk Monitor 70 (bi-amped). I use those with AT&T U-verse; AppleTV; PS4 and a rarely used Panasonic Blu-ray player. I do stream Vudu and Netflix through the TV.

I haven’t run out of HDMI inputs. So that isn’t an issue. Is it worth upgrading the receiver? It isn’t WiFi enabled so I guess I’m missing on some functionality.

I don't have a way to run cables to rear speakers and even if I had rear speakers I don’t have shelves to put them on and not interested in wall mounting or running cables through the walls.

I am interested in adding a center speaker and maybe some small front speakers and maybe a wireless sub (I assume that exists).

The living room is near the back porch so I would be interested in setting up a set of wireless outdoor speakers in a second zone

suggestions for for a recover and speakers? Budget $1000.

I have the same or similar receiver and polk speakers.  I don't miss the wifi, I have a wired line.  Before I ran that I used a power line network adapter.  The thing I did miss are apps and native bluetooth.  I bought the bluetooth adapter and can stream pandora or spotify to it but it ties up the phone or other device and you have to stay in range.  I recently added a Chromecast and that would have resolved the bluetooth issue as well.

So if you think a Chromecast would work for what you need to access then that may be a cheaper solution.

Not a business major, I must admit. But how come you get to assume that being open an extra 52 days would keep sales static?

I can't be the only person who has ever driven by a chic fil a on a Sunday wishing they were open .....and subsequently not thought of them again even once during the routine of my week!

Again I didn't study business but it seems like chic fil a would increase revenue by more being open on Sundays..... How come a liquor store wouldn't?

Well you can eat a chic fil a every day and you don't usually save the leftover for the next day (perishable item plus elastic demand).  Most people don't go through a bottle a day (Lehmberg) and if they do they might buy multiple bottles and put one on the shelf (static demand and non-perishable good).  Being open an additional day will not increase sales 17% over the year but guessing maybe 5% which would be offset by the additional labor and other variable costs associated with the extra day.

For those business that can legislate days everyone is closed where there demand is fairly static they have a built in advantage for keeping their margins up.  Take away the day off and they can choose to stay closed but will then lose sales and be forced to open.

That picture with the tents is mine from a few years ago.  Just did another camp out on Friday night with 2 of my kids.  TIF 419 is starting to green up.  Here is a picture from today.

I'll let you know when it looks like the above picture again.

its close...5-6 feet maybe?  i have 20 +/- feet to the roof overhang.  drip line can be fairly wide.  can a mt laurel handle pruning?

I think a Redbud or Mountain Laurel would work.  Both can be grown upright, the mountain laurel can be a bush if you prefer.  Mountain Laurel is evergreen and fragrant.  Redbud goes bare in the winter.  Here are examples of both from my yard.  Redbud is about 25' and Mt Laurel is 30+.

I shoot for between 25 and 50 carbs per day when I’m really strict, but I don’t count that closely.

I did that for 4 months and dropped from 196 to 182.  Since then I eat occasional carbs but no simple sugar or potato,  usually more complex carbs, whole grain, etc.  I'm finding that my reduced calorie intake and eliminating sugar has kept me in the 182-184 range.

My big motivator was chronically high triglycerides and fear of going type 2 beetus.

What about non-classic cars, just home mechanic shit?   Should that have its own thread, or did you intend for all shop talk to be on that one?

I'm not the boss of that stuff and I don't get bent when people take thread tangents.  If you need help with a specific topic it might be good to go with a new thread so it gets seen.  I was just posting progress on my ride since it has been a journey to get it on the road again.

  11. I love making Old Fashioned at home.  It's the ritual, the anticipation, presentation and taste that bring it to an experience level instead of just an alcoholic beverage.  Put me in the traditional camp with good bourbon, sugar cube, Angostura bitters, orange zest, and proper garnish in a low ball.  No muddled fruit or simple syrup.

On a related note, with the traffic they get on Sundays, Costco would be making well above incremental sales. I imagine the same would hold true for the others like Target, Sam’s, and Walmat. And liquor is heavily taxed with that additional revenue going to the state. There’s no legitimate reason for prohibiting stores from selling liquor on Sundays. If they want to stay closed, so be it.

The only stores that would want sales 7 days a week are the ones that are already open 7 days a week.  The additional overhead of opening the stores the 7th day does not drive more sales, just makes the sales volume they already have spread out over 7 days instead of 6 so it cuts into margin.  The same is true for Car dealerships.  Opening another day a week does not sell more cars, just spreads the same number of sales out.

The big retailers like Walmart would want the 7 day sales because they are already open 7 days a week and the burden of roping or fencing off part of the store at certain times (I remember beer sales in Texas back in the 70-80s) would be a hassle.
