When he took office, I recall thinking that his fantasy funeral has got to be the ones given for presidents in office. Everybody forced to make a huge production with fabulous ratings. He's been quoted as being unnerved by getting Covid and wondering if this would take him out. Clearly fake news because he's the bravest, leadingest, and hardest working man ever. Even so...

If he got as sick as we suspect and he believes he's on his way out, what better reality show death than in the White House followed by the leaders of the free world trailing his horse-drawn caisson (a word beyond his vocabulary, but something he could envision) bearing his coffin on the way to Arlington. I don't know how many actual leaders would show up, but they would be on the spot and not wanting to jeopardize the future relationship with the US.

A strong funeral commemorating the phenomal job everybody says he's done. And he has done so much with his incomparable work ethic. He's done more than any president ever even for the Negroes who don't deserve it. People will have tears streaming down their face like nobody's ever seen before.

All of his followers could crowd the path with no masks shaking hands and hugging Donald's staff before returning to local rallies to share their grief and hate for never-Trumpers. As a show of disdain for libs, they could all agree to only keep company with themselves for a month and not circulate among the rest of the populace. It would be so fitting for the cult.

Oh, how we would wish we could share our grief with them, but that's the way it goes.

This post reminds me of the poem "For want of  nail".  If Trump dies in office his tombstone should read "For want of a Mask"

I've definitely noticed this as well, and it's not just Trump fanatics. I know several nervous DEM guys that just assume Trump will win again no matter what kind of evidence you show them.

On the other hand (and not saying your family is like this), but the true die-hards are absolutely convinced that not only will Trump win, but he'll completely dominate and end up with more EV than 2016, possibly even win the PV.

It seems to basically boil down to "2016 polls were wrong, therefore the exact same thing will definitely happen this time. Trump gets 30K at his rallies while senile Joe hasn't left his nursing home in months!"

These are the same people who think every single news story is good for Trump/bad for Biden's chances. Also the same people who literally a week ago were predicting that Biden would come down with COVID to avoid having to debate.

So the are Fox News viewers.

they broke every fucking rule of this virus.

We need an edited graphic with plus signs or circles over the head of everyone who got it.  Lincoln Project or Biden campaign needs to get to work.

These people are clowns. Okay sesame street, can we spot the difference?

Risking life to transport President to hospital for medical care - necessary part of job.

Risking life to transport President around the block to wave at people - lol

    The precedent was already set...

Use police and National guard to stop violence and looting - check

Use police and National Guard to break up peaceful protest for politically motivated photo op in front of church - check

I think I saw this one driving around tonight.

  6. Just checked Fox News, Trump's surrogates are using these talking points:

    • The President is brave for taking risks and he took them along with the rest of the country because he wanted America to get back to work.
    • China is to blame for Trump getting the virus.

This is like the fourth quarter of the Big 12 CG against Colorado.  Yeah--we're not going to let up.  The game is not over.  We're still out there preventing Colorado from scoring.

But nobody out there should be thinking that Colorado has a chance to come back and win.

Biden is going to win this thing comfortably one month from tomorrow.  And the best part about it is that a fat man who is drowning in his own fluids isn't in any position to lead a civil war.  This has the very real potential to be an amazingly wonderful end to a horrid year.

Yeah, you're not talking about the one with Chris Simms are you?

Well, that article is talking about a mechanism to ignore the results of the election in states Biden wins. That would obviously be a huge problem. The twitter profile you quoted was discussing something different: if a state votes for Trump and Trump is incapacitated, then perhaps that state failed to make a choice at all. In that scenario, the state's legislature could appoint electors that would choose someone else. But, that doesn't help anything as the states that voted for Biden will still appoint electors that will vote for Biden.

The only way this because an issue worth worrying about is if Republicans argue that since Trump was incapacitated, it means no choice at all, even for Biden, could be made. Which, you know, I guess they could do. But it is a ridiculous position that would be laughed out of even the current Supreme Court with Barrett on it.

All 538 EC votes don't have to be cast.  If Biden has 270 then it doesn't matter who the remaining votes are for.

It's not that I think he's ever truthful.  He lies every time he opens his mouth.  And, honestly, who the fuck knows.  But lying about having a highly contagious virus a month before the election feels like too stupid a lie to put forward.  He can't have rallies.  Can't campaign.  Hell, unless everyone the entire administration on it, he's got a bunch of staff that will quarantine.  Maybe some congresspeople who should be campaigning need to quarantine.  Hell, his staff met with Amy Barrett this week.  Would she potentially quarantine after this news?  Senators who want to push her through?  His children who were also on that plane?

    This.

    1. It takes away his prime Narcissistic fuel, the campaign trail rallies.  Twitter is way down the list as a fuel source.

    2. Trump did not tweet the announcements for Hope Hick or he and Melania.  They were written by a staffer.  He probably did not want it announced in either case and is likely fuming that his staff took over.

Also, my patriotic upbringing had me sort of deify the president, making post-presidency prosecution a silly thing.  Trump's tarnishment of the title and making it clear that it is something that you can be if you are just some other dude makes it seem like prosecution isn't so far fetched.  I bet I'm not the only one that feels that way, and I bet public opinion for the general proposition of "is it okay to prosecute a former president" would be stronger for prosecution now (regardless of the person/woman/man/camera/tv) than at any time in our history.

If it all does come crumbling down, and he loses the election, gets indicted for something relatively major, financially ruined, I bet he ends up offing himself.

More than one narcissist has taken that route.

The President of the United States of America when asked by everyone to denounce white supremacists said, and I quote:

"Proud boys stand back, and stand by"

    That is 100% unobjectionable fact.

And I think the next sentence was just as or more important, "Proud Boys, stand back and stand by. But I’ll tell you what somebody’s got to do something about Antifa and the left because this is not a right wing problem this is a left wing."

This is Trump signaling Proud Boys to ignore the "stand back" part and be the somebody that will do something about it.

I watched that exchange and its not exactly what Santorum said. Santorum, who was critical of the President's "performance" last night said that Trump has never been willing to criticize any group that supports him regardless how vile that group is. Santorum might have used the word fair but he didn't call Trump's base, right wing extremists.

Santorum said Trump is not going to disavow his supporters regardless of who they are.  Implied in that statement is it is unreasonable to expect Trump to disavow Proud Boys, KKK, or neo-Nazis (I hate Illinois Nazis).  So Santorum was arguing for Trump standard on what is reasonable.  That Trump standard is the problem.
