Michigan's secondary is light years better than ours. They are also pressuring Penix, which we haven't at all.

the other way around IMO. i felt like we had way too much hype for our DTs heading into the game with husky

but michigan secondary is indeed better as well

penix is exactly who we thought he was. we needed to pressure him and our plan sucked

I'm acknowledging that Penix was always going to put up big numbers against us, but for most of the game he was way too comfortable.  We should have been able to put some hits on him and get him thinking about the rush.

Especially in the first half we went heavy with delayed blitzes which imo was a terrible gameplan against a QB like Penix. You aren't going to confuse him with delayed disguised blitzes, he's too good at recognition for that. Line up some pass rushers in A gaps and see if we can manage to get some immediate pressure in his face, did we do that much?

this is where I get a bit frustrated in CFB sometimes. Its not the pros. Sometimes outmatched teams will take the needed risks and make the needed adjustments to actually equalize the game a bit. I saw this with ASU (or Arizona) highlights against Washington. They ran reed boyd blitzes right up the A gap. both linebackers and it panicked penix. Not sure we did this once, maybe we did and I blocked it out of my memory, but I felt bit like you have to at some point toss out gambles, particularly at the very beginning of the game. Create disruption and second guessing.

This is partly why I think we won in Tuscaloosa. Sometimes I feel Saban just demands to play straightup. I get it, there is tons going on behind the scene as to why you do this, but still frustrates me when we do as you said - delayed blitzing - a bad plan to start, and then seemingly lose any ability to dictate any of our will on their offense. Who cares if you get burnt once. Get it over with and get your players playing like their ass is on fire.

  3. not great. i was like most of you with the game - penix was great. I don't think our secondary played as bad as people think (and their receivers are good, but IMO it was really all Penix that puts them over the top. And their Oline is excellent). they were just good and they deserved to win

But then we get his massive opp for redemption and can't even find a single good pass on 4 tries into the endzone. thats just heartbreaking for me. I still cannot fathom how you F it up that bad. I would have thought this is drilled in your 2 minute practice in some capacity, and/or scenario practice on tries from the 10 to 20 yard line.

I’m only really mad at the defensive game plan. Penix was going to get 300+ no matter what. We needed to play aggressive for 4 quarters and not expect a 4 man rush to get anywhere near the QB against an OL that gave up 11 sacks all year. Just an atrocious game plan that, when we ditched it because we had to be aggressive, unsurprisingly good things started happening.

i don’t know how PK could have coached this team through the UH, KSU and TCU games and still run that plan out there.

When we were passive this year we failed. We were mostly passive for 3 quarters tonight.

yep, was saying this ^ all night. and here we are. they are penix. must sell out to hit him.

  5. dude makes the best throws occasionally but he is just so inconsistent in certain situations. get him pressure up the middle and he loses focus and just struggles to get back.

i thought his runs were great tonight. they really seemed to have loosened him up a bit.

i was expecting much more on those last 4 plays. at least something close. not 0/4 and just totally lost. he was above his paygrade. hope he can recover and learn from it

Absurd we had a chance. Last series was terrible by Sarkisian. We got beat all game then had a chance for a miracle and I'm not sure what happened. First down on the last series is the most inexplicable play call since Greg Davis called for play action on 3rd and 30.

sark blew it both in prep and the last 4 tries. very clearly we had nothing there to work with. 4 throws and only one anywhere near where it was supposed to be. QB needed to pick it up and was just lost. dude has moments, love him, but he gets tecmo bowl lost somethings with happy feet and just doesn't seem to feel the game.

other QB was balls. their receivers are ok, but IMO not nearly as good as the throws they get. anyone other than penix and we win i think. huge gift with the injury to their RB. huge gift. and we shit the bed. i for sure thought we would have some crazy slants/crossing patterns in the middle of the field/goal line to end it, not a HB toss and whatever other stupidity we tossed out. still in total shock at those last 4 calls. just fucking shocking how bad that went. toss an INT man, fuck it, you have to actually throw INTO THE ENDZONE to score 🤬

I would like every post game question be about the swing pass play call.

or all 4 plays calls NOT in the endzone. The last ball wasn't catchable either, and kinda in the endzone, if you compare it to the other 3 nowhere near the EZ.

i am just in shock. handed a miracle and shit the bed
